We live just 10 minutes away and have enjoyed Quarryville as our home since 1976. Being able to enjoy the country atmosphere yet being close to Lancaster and other cities has given us what we think is the best of both worlds. We raised 4 children and now enjoy several grandchildren.
Judy Brown purchased this house in 2014
The relaxing atmosphere, the beautiful landscaping, and being surrounded by Amish.
Easy to get to and easy access to shopping, restaurants, attractions and airports.
Three generations visited The Gate House over a long weekend away. We enjoyed the delicious bread that awaited us. The house was spacious, clean and comfortable. Judy had excellent communication with us prior to our stay. Having the pack and play, high chair and baby gates made our packing less burdensome. The bonus room is not pictured but has air-hockey, movies and games that we enjoyed one rainy evening. This was a super location with a pretty drive through the country for our excursions to Sight and Sound and the Strasburg Railroad. We definitely would recommend this to others!
We have a large family ( six kids) which often makes it hard to find a place to stay. We had lots of room and a lovely view from the sun porch. The decor was inviting and homey. We really did not want to leave. We highly recommend a stay here.
We missed not having small tv in living room that we expected. Heaters made loud popping noises when they came on and shut off. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed watching the birds from inside. Look forward to coming in springtime or summer. Great location for visiting Hershey, Strasburg, and Lancaster with many stops in between. Maps and books were helpful. Quarryville Family Restaurant very close and great food. Serve breakfast all day. Wonderful place to go for relaxation. The bread was enjoyed by all. Would love to have had more channels on TV. Leaving with football dt's and wishing we could have watched more movie channels. Overall, great place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay at the Gate House. It was comfy and cozy and the kitchen felt like home. I especially liked how thorough Judy was in explaining instructions and the ins and outs of the house, all found in a well thought out binder. The weekend went off without a hitch. I would recommend this very clean and beautifully decorated house with lovely and peaceful surroundings to anyone looking for a home away from home experience.
Our first reaction when we pulled into the driveway was wow! Then we went into the house and I have no words to describe it. We went for a nice relaxing girls weekend and we got it. I highly suggest this place. It would be great for all seasons. We look forward to planning our next getaway.
Enjoyed staying in the countryside versus in town. Gave us the opportunity to see the beautiful Amish farms as we drove on many different country roads as we went into Lancaster, Hershey, and Gettysburg. The house was as described but the pictures didn't do it justice and was very clean and well stocked. What you don't see is the awesome downstairs game room. Judy had a very detailed information book with local grocery stores, restaurants and attractions. And of course.....the loaf of fresh Amish bread waiting for us when we arrived. Enjoyed seeing "Samson" at the Sight & Sound theater and taking a tour of the Amish farmlands at the Plain & Fancy Farm and eating at the Good and Plenty Restaurant. Unless you are a person who eats a "lot" at a buffet, I would stay clear of the buffets.....rather pricey. Of the 3 we ate at...you could also order off the menu. This was our first trip from Oklahoma to Pennsylvania and staying at the Gatehouse made it an enjoyable trip.
