We loved the place! Perfect for our group. It is amazingly well equipped
for a rental. Wished we had known about the new grill but next time we'll
plan on it. We tried really hard to think of how the place could be
improved/what was missing. Only came up with a couple things - Kleenex
and window washing - pretty good for 5 critics! You have done a great
job. We loved the decks and the view & spent alot of time just sitting
around chatting. Weather was iffy but OK. Parking was a bit challenging
but we survived. No other issues. We certainly would rent it again if we
were coming to the area. Thanks so much for your cooperation. It was
really pleasant to be able to check in/out early. We stayed every minute
The house was very cute and the views of Tomales Bay were INCREDIBLE! Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, and there were even some spices in the pantry, which came in handy. There were 4 people in our group, and the space was more than adequate for all of us. We did share the beds, but they were plenty big and very comfortable. It was really nice having the 1/2 bath in the downstairs bedroom (1 bathroom for 4 girls can be quite a challenge!). The neighborhood is cute and very quiet, which is nice.
On one of the days we drove to the Tomales Point trailhead and did the hike out to the point and back (11 miles round-trip). We saw all kinds of wildlife including big groups of elk, deer, lots of different birds, and even a small garter snake. The next day we drove to the opposite end of the peninsula and visited the old lighthouse. It's not much of a hike, but be ready to do some stair climbing-----308 to be exact! Not so bad going down, but a little bit harder coming back up. If you're in shape, it's no big deal. If you're not, it's going to take a little longer to climb back up.
This house is in a great location for hiking and watersports. There isn't really much around in the way of shopping or restaurants unless you drive into Point Reyes Station (about 15 minutes up the road). However, there is a little market closer, in Inverness Park. You wouldn't want to do any big shopping there, but it's sufficient for items you might run out of like milk, beer, wine, chips, etc. They even have a great little deli where they make fresh sandwiches.
My only regret is the we couldn't stay longer. This house feels like a real home (comfy, a little quirky) and with a stunning view of the bay. Perfect for two couples - My wife and I stayed here with our daughter and her boyfriend. They took the downstairs bedroom; we took the upstairs - We used the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor grill to cook in every night, and at lunchtime we bought sandwiches down the road. We could only stay three days but it was one of the best vacations I've had in a long time.
A light filled gathering place for visiting with family, reading, or watching the Giants on TV. This home was outstanding (and we've rented many in Inverness). Great privacy for two couples or other small family group combinations, with separate floor accommodations. The home is immaculate, and charming with plenty of comfortable seating. We will be back!
MY spouse and I stayed with two children (ages 7 and 4). The house is absolutely lovely and the deck overlooking Tomales Bay is one of the most charming things about it. At the time we stayed (late August), there were apples on the tree outside and we found quite a few edible ones (delicious)! There's a school with an accessible playground about a three minute walk from the property (perfect for children who are too little to spend a full day hiking but who still need to get out of the house and play), and the cutest town library you've ever seen, about ten minute (4-year old's pace) walk down the hill in Inverness village. For people unfamiliar with the area, there are some great restaurants in Point Reyes Station (e.g., Cafe Reyes, Station House Cafe), and one in Inverness (Saltwater). The Inverness Park Market down the road a piece has great sandwiches and groceries. The only negative comment we'd have about this property is that it does not have laundry facilities available to guests, so please pack accordingly! Other than that, we could not have asked for a more charming and peaceful place, and hope we can make it back some day!
Great house, great location. Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing weekend hiking, reading, and eating with our 3 kids (12-19). A little trouble with one of the toilets :) We'll be back. Highly recommend!
We loved our stay here and would definitely return. We were three adults and two kids and one dog. The house is a picturesque example of simple Inverness design. The updates made to the home, such as new windows and some kitchen upgrades, were clearly well done and well integrated with the original features. The oak tree and view of the water that characterize the view from the entire living area were better in person than in the photos. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the mattress on the pull out sofa bed. Also, we tried but didn't succeed in getting the satellite TV to work; however it was very clear who to call if we had any questions and we never did because we didn't really mind not having TV. The wifi worked great.
