Hancock Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 full bath plus loft! Sleeps 6+

Centrally located between Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point. This log cabin is waterfront with kayak's & canoe available. Gorgeous meadow and bay views. Located in the center of Hancock village just 35 minutes from Bar Harbor. Having been born and raised here I know you wont find a more peaceful and relaxing log cabin around.

Resturants: Going on vacation is all about eating what you want, when you want it. If you like a little upscale dining, the Cottage is within walking distance of Chipper's restaurant. Chippers is a locally owned restaurant with the owner himself cooking your meal every evening. If you are looking for something a little less upscale, 7 miles away in the town of Ellsworth is the best fried seafood, burgers and ice cream around. Jordan's Snack Bar is also locally owned for over 25 years. One highlight of the week is their Cruise-In car shows on Wednesday nights. Jimmy Jordan entertains with live music and on average of 25 antique automobiles. Come check it out, you wont regret it! If Maine Lobster is what you are looking for, Lobster Pot Restaurant in Ellsworth is where you want to head. This restaurant is overlooking the Union River with outdoor seating available. The Lobster Pot has a large menu for everyone, including the children. Don't miss out on their homemade Blueberry Pie!

Somethings you don't want to miss out on:

Biking or walking the Carriage trails in Bar Harbor.

Tidal falls-Down east Maine's very own reversing falls with nearby Frenchman's Bay, outdoor barbecue and live music.

Seacoast Fun Park where the children can splash down the slides into the pool, play mini-golf, or speed off on the go-cart track.

If antiquing is a hobby of yours, you will have many around town or just 7 miles away in the town of Ellsworth.

Merchant's log cabin was recently completely this past year. Come be one of our first guest to experience it's beauty.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin in beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. It's clear that the owners put a lot of care and attention into the details to give it a high-end, comfortable and very "Maine" feeling, down to the light switch plates. The kitchen is more than adequate, the beds are comfortable and the rain shower head is great! Acadia is an easy 40ish minutes away. The weather wasn't ideal so we didn't get to use the kayaks (cool and rainy) but it looked like a beautiful spot to get out on the water. I bet the fireplace is great in the winter, too!

A couple of notes:

The cabin is located on US 1 which means that it's easy to get to places but you will hear road traffic. It wasn't overly loud and wasn't a deal breaker for us but if you're looking for a cabin tucked away in the woods where you only hear wildlife this might not be for you.

The water is well and had a very strong iron odor and taste so you should consider bringing bottled water.

Great family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time relaxing at the house and enjoying activities in Acadia. We had a beautiful view of the water and had some adventures in the kayaks! Hancock is an easy drive to Acadia Park and Schoodic Point where we went hiking and biking. The house is carefully taken care of and well equipped with everything we needed. We really enjoyed our time staying at Merchant's cabin!

Merchant's Cabin is only 35 minutes from the most beautiful tourist location in the whole state of Maine, Bar Harbor(activity ideas to come below). Merchant's Cabin sits on 3 acres of colorful and tranquil land, with the sight of the beautiful ocean in your back yard. Wake up and enjoy your coffee on the front deck or stay up late and enjoy the cool, but comfortable, Maine nights. About 15 miles away you will find part of Acadia National Park, Schoodic Mountain. Schoodic Mountain is a great hike for beginners or experienced hikers. Once at the top you will find a great view of Downeast Maine and the private beach below, Donnells Pond. After hiking down, take a dip in the cool stream fed pond. You won't believe how clear and refreshing it is.
