Hi, I'm Beth Kanaga. As the property manager for Blue Sky Barn, I'm delighted you're considering this exceptional and comfortably elegant country estate! Originally from Monmouth County, NJ, I moved to Hudson in 2008. A few years later, I realized a long-held dream when I launched Bushnell Guest House, a bed and breakfast set in a historic mansion. It's now my privilege and pleasure to help a friend (and former B&B guest) achieve his own vision for Blue Sky Barn!
This property has it all: easy access from the Taconic Parkway, close proximity to Hudson, and the perfect home base for sightseeing, recreational activities and destinations like Bard College, Tanglewood and Woodstock. The photos, while lovely, don't fully convey the warmth and elegance of this unique house and grounds. Come experience them for yourself and make lasting memories with family and friends.
Why split up your group at scattered inns and hotels when you can all stay together here? Save and have fun by cooking meals together in the charming brick kitchen. Enjoy each others' company in the many cozy gathering spaces. Drink in the sunshine with your coffee each morning, and savor pre-dinner cocktails in the lush garden. In this haven from life's hectic pace, you'll sleep more soundly, laugh more often and be truly present with loved ones.
We filled this house with fun for a long weekend near a wedding. One of our party described it well - it's like a tree house for adults. A/C in the bedrooms was essential and worked well, and there were fans to accommodate those areas without A/C. Good showers and space for everything. Beth was very helpful and made it convenient for many people arriving at various times. The house has many different levels - steps up to the dining room, down to kitchen, etc., making this home ideal for adults and teens, not persons with disabilities. The washer did not fill with cold water, so we filled with buckets of cold water, and had to manually forward the cycle. Otherwise - we had a good experience here.
If you need quiet and privacy, even in a group setting, this is the place for you. There's a quiet nook that goes with every bedroom! Lots of old quiet, mysterious qualities. We loved it.
We had an amazing stay at Blue Sky Barn!! The farmhouse is filled with historic character (as you can see in the pictures), yet well maintained and up to date. We spent the first day there oohing and aahing over every architectural detail, and the description is quite accurate. The home is far more spacious than we expected, and the layout is truly ideal for group get-togethers as it comfortably accommodates entertaining larger groups while affording each couple privacy as the sleeping quarters are spread out through the farmhouse. There are spacious, well-tended grounds that are great for children to run around; our daughter loved playing on a wooden swing set and picking herbs from the garden for her omelets. The town of Hudson was a short drive away with great restaurants and cute shopping, and this is a great place to stay whether you are looking to explore Hudson and the valley or whether you just want a fantastic getaway.
I spent a weekend here and it was great. The house is beautiful and has a ton of character since it is an old barn that's been redone. The grounds are lovely and there's even a little pond. It's the perfect getaway from the city.
