About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

18th Century hideaway with 21st Century amenities, this remarkable converted stone Oratorio (former private chapel built in 1737) is built around a courtyard with small pool, waterfall and lush tropical plantings. Our art filled home overlooks the city and mountains but is located in the Historic Center of San Miguel on a street with very little traffic. The home comes complete with household help, wi-fi, cable television, Vonage phone, all house water purification, cotton sheets and towels, great reading lights and magic everywhere. We have a fully equipped eat in kitchen. We are a home not just another rental. Perfect as a hideaway and retreat as well as for family gatherings or special celebrations- we've hosted weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and even a couple of Bar Mitzvah's. Over the last 25 years our guests have said that our home is comfortable, magical and unique. No one ever wants to leave!

Lovely property; excellent stay.

  • 5 of 5

This is an incredibly beautiful property. Oozes charm everywhere yet had everything modern we would want. We were well taken care of by Maria and Beto. Do note that the property is situated on a very steep slope on a cobblestone street that we nicknamed Heart Attack Hill.

Lovely, well-maintained & enchanting

  • 5 of 5

This restored colonial house (originally an oratorio) is both true to its original setting and comfortable. It is beautiful. The staff - Maria & Beto - are lovely. The owner has thoughtfully & generously provisioned the house, and has left very helpful information about the house and about San Miguel. The house is in the historical center of this World Heritage town, but it is located on a steep cobblestone street, far enough from the zócalo to provide good exercise for an otherwise indolent holiday. Restaurants within walking distance range from casual bars/cafes to ultra up-scale; just wandering the streets, house, churches, parks & shops can fill a holiday. Within San Miguel, you can go local or tourist. All-in-all, only the highest recommendation.

Magical San Miguel

  • 5 of 5

Richard's house in San Miguel de Allende is everything we hoped for and more. It was a beautiful and lovely space within walking district to everything in San Miguel. Everything was clean and Maria kept it that way everyday. Richard was very responsive and provided great tips. We miss it already.
