Location, location, location..Built in1929 and still retains much of it's old charm and is just a great house to bring family and freinds. Traditionally we spend Thanksgiving with family and now grandchildren. We both love going to Catalina to relax and enjoy all the things the Island has to offer and because of it's great location, we can walk everywhere.
'Location!', It's only a block from the town and walking distance to any and all you want to see and do. The house was built in 1929 and is cozy with new and old features that gives it the feel of Old Catalina. One really unique feature that everyone loves is the big sliding window in the sun room. It's a great place to relax as the sun sets and have your favorite drink of choice.
This place is spacious and close to town. We were able to walk to the beach every night and enjoy the town. There was lots of condiments in the refridgerator which came in handy when we BBQ. We enjoyed the chairs and the beach. Clarence was great and let us stay until our boat left which was very helpful. Thanks for the great stay! We would definitely recommend this place.
The location of the Big Blue House is great. About half a block to the main street in Avalon, close to Mini Golf, Grocery Store, golf cart rentals for touring the island, and restaurants. The house is perfect for family gatherings with a great dining table, a big kitchen, a nice setup for BBQ, and lots of beds. It is on a busy street, but we enjoyed watching all the people. We had a great time.
Had a great week with family at this house. We have stayed in may places over the years in Catalina and this is by far the best location yet. My grandmother is 90 and it is very easy for her to walk around from this location. Streets are flat and you are close to EVERYTHING! Big enough table to have family dinners everynight. It's a magical island and great for kids. House is stocked with evert Hong you need to make a great vacation . Can't wait to go back in July!
Can you allow pets??? We haven't stayed here yet, and we would love to, we just need to be able to bring our 2 dogs. They are very small dogs, and very well trained too. Is there some way that you could allow it?? We would love to stay here some time in June/July.

We just had a big, week long family reunion here and it was perfect.
The listing description and photos do not do this house justice. For a big group, there are many areas to gather. We were able to fit 13 people around the table (tight, but definitely doable) and, as meals were going to be a big focus, this was great. The living room includes three couches, two of which have lazy boy type adjustments on both ends. The sunroom at the very front has a big sliding window, allowing you to feel like you are in an open air porch. The kitchen is large, has a large table and almost every piece of equipment you could possibly need, including utensils, plates and wine glasses galore. This is one of those houses were the owner/manager, leaves the condiments and other things from the last guest - a real plus.
The house was very clean when we got there and is very well maintained. The only thing not working was the blender.
There are four bedrooms upstairs which easily sleep ten. It should be noted that you have to walk through the room with the double/single to get to the room with two singles. While there is only one full bath upstairs, two rooms have sinks which makes this much easier to use. The bedding is clean and adequate. More and better towels would be appreciated, though.
There are nice TV's in the downstairs living room and three bedrooms, which allows people to do different things (we are not ALL football fans).
The property was easy to book and Mr. Hunt very helpful. We asked for a late check out, which was given without a second thought and much appreciated.
A couple of drawbacks which should be noted and cannot be changed. There is no outside space at all, as the house takes up the whole lot. There is a significant amount of noise from golf carts in the front of the house, as there is a 4 way intersection there.
Other big plusses is how close you are to Little Vons (1 block) and Big Vons (4 blocks), the beach and everything else. We saved a fortune on food by eating at home pretty much every day.
I would highly recommend this property and will book it again next time we have a family reunion.
