LIVING ON A HOUSEBOAT
Experience a unique way of life, the freedom of your own apartment, privacy and independence, the typical Amsterdam charm of living on the water. Fall asleep at night to the gentle rocking of the boat, wake up the next morning to the sound of ducks and swans swimming past.
The boat is perfectly located on a small canal right between the old city centre and trendy neighbourhood ‘De Pijp’ in Amsterdam. Just around the corner from the boat is the river Amstel, the river the city took its name from.
Recently the houseboat was completely renovated and modernised. It measures a total of 70 m2, has an elegant modern design, luxurious with some antique touches. It has large windows all around, it is a very bright place, like a bungalow on the water. It has a spacious living room with a fully fitted kitchen, two double bedrooms with queen sized (box spring) beds and a private sink/shower each. And maybe best of all, right on the water there’s a nice outside terrace from which to enjoy the ships passing by or watch the sunset over the water. The boat is ideally located for sunshine all day long, from a balcony breakfast to a sunset dinner.
Modern kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven/microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine. Central heating in all rooms. Flatscreen TV, DVD player, soundsystem, wifi/highspeed internet. Two Bathrooms with private shower/sink, hairdryer. Separate toilet. Safety deposit box. Washing machine and dryer. Towels and linen (Egyptian cotton) provided.
This boat is located on the edge of the canal ring area, the 17th century historical center of Amsterdam (UNESCO World Heritage Listing). This is the area into which you can endlessly wander, discovering historical gabled houses and beautiful hidden courtyards. Cutting all the way through the canal ring is the Utrechtsestraat, a cozy and classy shopping street with great boutiques and a number of excellent bars and restaurants.
To the south the boat edges on ‘De Pijp’, formerly a 19th century working class area but with a recent influx of students and artists this area is often nicknamed the Dutch Quartier Latin with endless shopping, numerous bars and dozens of great restaurants. Cutting right through this area is the Albert Cuyp Market, Amsterdam’s largest open-air food market.
Public transportation is just a few steps away and takes you in a few minutes to the Museum area (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum) or across all canals all the way to Central Station.

I stayed here with two friends. It was great. The location is perfect because it’s on a quieter part of the canal. It was very clean and the caretaker, Caroline, is very responsive and nice. Beds are very comfortable. We really had a great time and it was a great experience.
Spring in Amsterdam
Our stay on the Houseboat was fantastic. The houseboat itself is a great size, let''s you spread out much better than a hotel room. Also, the deck was great for enjoying the sunshine and having a drink. The location is perfect, everything seemed to be a relatively short walk, yet at night you're far enough away from the action so that it's not loud.
We'd definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.
Fabulous place to stay!
Carolien greeted us and explained everything we needed to know. Location was fabulous, boat was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend and will try to stay again if I return to Amsterdam.
Try something different, go for a houseboat
Just for a change, and we were after all going to Amsterdam, we decided to book a houseboat as opposed to the traditional hotel room.
What a lovely change it was too. We were met by Carolien who gave us a good run through of the boat, where to go locally for food and for entertainment. The boat's location is perfect to allow you to get everywhere. As for the boat itself, it was a great experience. A perfect little veranda allows you to wave at the "tourists" passing by if you so wish (I did) and overall the boat was lovely and warm. In fact, it was far better than many of my friends flats.
Give it a go....you won't be disappointed.
Outstanding accommodation! Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Amsterdam!
The houseboat was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Great location just off The Amstel. Check in was easy and received great information about the area from caretaker. We loved our visit!!
Amazing New Year's vacation spot!
We really enjoyed our stay on the houseboat for four night's over the New Year's Eve/New Year's Day holiday. We are a family of three so having two bedrooms and two showers really helped. We enjoyed the privacy of a single home. Very convenient to grocery stores, restaurants, public transportation. Loved having a clothes washer and dryer in the houseboat. Beds were very comfortable, all the amenities we needed were there, everything was explained to us when we checked in! Would definitely stay here again!
