Best kept secret in Fredericksburg!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Ansiley House! The house was very clean, had all the amenities we needed and close to Main Street (we parked the car and walked everywhere). Upon arrival, there were fresh flowers on the table and bottled water in the fridge. The house is a great romantic weekend getaway! The owners dinner recommendation for The Nest was perfect! We will definitely stay here again.

I wish I would have known that there were not any basic toiletries provided, i.e. shampoo & conditioner; however this was not a big deal because HEB (local grocery store) was just a couple of blocks away. The only recommendation I would have is to provide a couple of additional sleeping pillows and it would have been nice if the small yard & porch area were a little more manicured. The Spring season in TX is short and we like to spend as much time outside as we can; having pollen cleaned up a bit on the porch furniture and the grass trimmed would have been the been the finishing touch.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely description of your stay. It is wonderful for viewers to read. Thank you. I provide all necessities, except Shampoo & conditioner , because they can cause chemical reactions. We have a natural look popular in Fredericksburg for living, however you visited when the mower & weed eater both were being repaired. That part was not the norm.

The property was lovely. Very clean.

We felt the living area could use more comfortable furniture. It was good that we are small people and could fit in love seat. The other chair uncomfortable. The toilet in bathroom needs fixing so that it would flush better. Bedroom too bright in afternoon. Ceiling fan in bedroom needs work.

Great home but cold water

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and love the character of the home and its location. However, we had to boil water to supplement a bath and could not complete a single shower with hot water. Definitely, need to upsize the water heater capacity.

Quaint and Charming

  • 4 of 5

We stayed Sunday thru Thursday. Town is probably quieter then. Tiny house is tucked way back on the lot so nice and secluded and private. The tiny green projection lights on the ivy wall were a nice touch. Everything was as advertised except for one thing. We enjoyed the proximity to Main Street. We walked everywhere we went!!

The one thing was no WiFi. I am sure this situation is frustrating for Shannon as well. We had to use our own data on our phone plan and that does not help with computers or IPads. We would have liked to have watched our Netflix shows in the evenings. But we are in our sixties and not totally dependent on connectivity so we just did without. The library is across the street. It has WiFi so we did our necessary things from there.

We had a really nice stay. Thank you, Shannon, for the luxurious towels.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I pay Time Warner for wifi and the intention is to create a problem for my business. Data is wonderful. All computers, phones, etc. have Data connections. Try it. You will love it.

This adorable house was just steps from Main Street making it an ideal spot! Restaurants and tasting rooms were just around the corner. The house had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend getaway and the owner responded quickly to all questions.

It’s inexpensive for a reason.....buyer beware....

  • 2 of 5

I booked this property because it appeared to be a quaint and cozy cottage very close to downtown Fredericksburg. The reviews were good and the price was low, however I understand why the price is low now. This property is very very old. It has cracks so big you can see daylight through them, the doors are rotting and falling apart, the furniture is tiny and uncomfortable, and we experienced a pest problem. At 1 am the first night, a roach fell from the ceiling, hit my cheek and ran down my neck. I screamed, waking up my husband. We knocked it out of the bed and killed it. I didn’t sleep anymore. I could hear scurries all night. Our bedroom had an exterior door that had holes in it letting bugs and drafts in as well. I emailed the owner the next morning letting her know we were checking out early due to the roach problem and she wrote back “I apologize if that actually happened, however it is no basis for a refund. I have a "60 days prior to arrival date" only, refund policy. Thank you. Shannon” So bacially she called me a liar and refused a refund. We left early anyway, got a hotel and enjoyed the rest of our vacation roach free. And believe me, I do understand with a house that old and doors literally falling apart due to rotting, coupled with ivy covering the entire front yard, there will be roaches. They love ivy. The House was extremely clean inside, but until the owner fixes and seals the doors, there’s no keeping pests out. And her refusal to refund one night, not both, just one, is unreasonable. My husband keeps laughing about the whole incident and calling me a spoiled princess, but if you like modern amenities, like adult sized furniture and pest control, book a hotel, not an old cottage. I took some photos as well but I don’t see where I can attach them....
