Best kept secret in Fredericksburg!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Ansiley House! The house was very clean, had all the amenities we needed and close to Main Street (we parked the car and walked everywhere). Upon arrival, there were fresh flowers on the table and bottled water in the fridge. The house is a great romantic weekend getaway! The owners dinner recommendation for The Nest was perfect! We will definitely stay here again.

I wish I would have known that there were not any basic toiletries provided, i.e. shampoo & conditioner; however this was not a big deal because HEB (local grocery store) was just a couple of blocks away. The only recommendation I would have is to provide a couple of additional sleeping pillows and it would have been nice if the small yard & porch area were a little more manicured. The Spring season in TX is short and we like to spend as much time outside as we can; having pollen cleaned up a bit on the porch furniture and the grass trimmed would have been the been the finishing touch.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely description of your stay. It is wonderful for viewers to read. Thank you. I provide all necessities, except Shampoo & conditioner , because they can cause chemical reactions. We have a natural look popular in Fredericksburg for living, however you visited when the mower & weed eater both were being repaired. That part was not the norm.

Great Place, Killer Location, No Internet

  • 4 of 5

This is a wonderful and historic little cottage, with a nice front porch and a serene, well manicured courtyard set back from the street. The location is ideal, only a block from Main, on historic San Antonio Street which has some beautiful churches and interesting original architecture. The bed and furnishings are comfortable. The bathroom and kitchen are simple but more than adequate for a short visit and the host provided some water which was a nice touch.

Really the only issue I had was that although the listing indicated that WiFi Internet was available and included, there was a handwritten note in the cottage from the owners saying Wifi was not available and the host confirmed this in person after I arrived. This may not be a big deal to some who come to Fredericksburg for a relaxing getaway but I was visiting mid-week, had a lot of online work to do and chose the property in part because it said they had Internet WiFi so it was very important to me.

Other than the Internet issue, this place is a 5 Star property. If being connected is not important to you then by all means, stay here!

Owner's Response: It's so important to know about "Data" access to the internet. It is so much better than wifi. All computers & cell phones have "Data" use settings. I have to have internet also and live here. Data is amazing. I encourage everyone to try this wonderful "Data" solution to the ever inconsistent wifi problem in the the world. Thank you for the other lovely words in this.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Ainsley House was a cozy, peaceful respite for our anniversary getaway. We enjoyed the porch and the beautifully appointed decor. It was convenient to downtown so we were able to walk to shopping and attractions. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The good, The better, The best

  • 4 of 5

The good was the fact the house was quite and set back off the side street and was equipped with most of the basics you need for a two night stay. I will have to say the TV didn't work for us but not a major negative because who goes to Fredericksburg for the weekend to watch TV. The better part was the cost for our stay was equal or even maybe a tad less than a hotel/motel. We didn't have to lug our stuff through lobbies and elevators and nobody hollering or running up and down the hallway. The best part was the fact that we were able to access the Main Street for shopping and dining just by simply walking to and from. No driving in circles looking for parking. In the end we give this place a 4 star rating because overall no place can be perfect. Suggestions (not complaints ) include leaving a little more regular sugar for coffee, leave a few bottle water in fridge, not sure about the frozen cake in the freezer LOL. Great overall experience and we will definitely suggest it to our friends. We hope you have great success with this little hidden getaway. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy it. The Becks
