We were elementary teachers, raised in Queens, NYC and moved from Centerport, Long Island to VT in 1976 with four children, a cat and a dog! Now retired, we enjoy winter travel and meeting new families here during our beautiful spring, summer and fall. Our rural farming village is within easy access to the historic and cultural events of the extended community.
Linda & Bruno Studer purchased this cottage in 1979
White Birch Lodge is the only business on Echo Lake that accommodates families and provides the amenities listed. Located right by the inlet from Seymour Lake, it has been know for superior spring and fall fishing since the 1930s. Local visitors enjoy walking and biking on the dirt road surrounding our pristine lake. Fall foliage provides spectacular views of the beautiful mountains.
For those who enjoy having a choice between the quiet beauty of a rural setting, the activities of a lakefront home-away-from-home, and the historic cultural events available locally, White Birch Lodge is a perfect vacation site.
We have had two great weeks at White Birch Lodge and will return again this summer. The cabins are cozy with every important convenience. No TV was hard the first year but we were better at it the second year. The gentle road is great for walking the dogs. It's very quiet, and the lake has little motor boat traffic. Great place to relax and enjoy the stunning views.
Bruno and Linda make their guests feel like family. If you want a retreat far from noise and hustle and bustle, this is the place. You can kayak on placid waters or read a book under a shade tree during the day. By night, you can sit around a fire and make s'mores while you listen to the loons calling on the lake. In a word, PEACEFUL.
My girlfriend and I have been to White Birch Lodge 3 times in the last five years. It's a fairly basic, rustic type of camp. Just the way we like it. Our host's, the Studers, are very accommodating and always making little improvements around the property. Fishing, swimming, hiking, just a nice quiet restful, well maintained vacation spot. Area restaurant's are a bit of a ride but that's the price of solitude.
After 30 years together I surprised my girlfriend with a Handfasting (Pagan wedding ceremony) on the porch of our cabin. We had a wonderful stay.
VT as it used to be! Perfect for a relaxing experience or as active as you wish. One of the most pristine lakes in VT. Perfect for family reunions.
