We are calling it our Alaska cabin. Its quiet, cozy, great views, and a 5 minute drive to Eagle River for groceries or a great cup of coffee at Jitters (our local spot). There is great hiking and views-for-miles just minutes up the road from our house to the top of Skyline Dr. at Mt. Baldy (alaskahikesearch.com/hikes/mt-baldy/#.VR3ZjmbglcQ). Or just sit on the deck with an evening glass of wine and look out across at Hiland Mountain or on a clear day north to see Denali. Eagle River is a great spot for day trips north to Palmer, Hatcher's Pass, Big Lake, or south to Anchorage, Artic Valley, Alyeska, and the Kenai Peninsula.
Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and is set up with 3 king beds, a great open floor plan, and easy flat driveway for any car, or even parking an RV.
I moved to Alaska in 1969, lived, worked and raised 4 kids there in Eagle River for 30 years. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii now with my 2 horses and I enjoy getting back to Eagle River to see friends and family as often as I can. This Alaska home has been a dream for us (the kids and grandkids) for several years and we finally found the perfect home in a great location.
Kelly OConnor purchased this house in 2014
Our family of 6 grew up just down the road in the 70s and 80s and while the kids (and their grandkids) have moved to different parts of the 'lower 48', we have been wanting a place to come back to you and keep ourselves connected to Alaska, so we have finally found this family home. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.
What a wonderful experience we had at this beautiful house!
The views of the snow, trees and mountains were spectacular!!! The bedrooms were large and comfy. The beds were so comfortable and had nice sheets on them. The washer/dryer came in handy as well! The den is set up for a perfect place for family cooking and eating. There was plenty of room for all. The gas logs added a cozy family feeling. The owners were kind and helpful. Entry and obtaining keys was easy. The house was easy to maintain a warm temperature throughout the house. The owner answered all questions quickly. They left some yummy doughnuts, which the grands particularly enjoyed!!!
I would highly recommend this awesome house to all. We traveled from NC to visit our Eagle River family which include our daughter, her husband, and their 3 children. Stella (6 years old) cried when she realized it was our last day of our time there!!!
Can't wait to return!!!!

We stayed there as a group of 7 and simply loved the house and the location. Its about 30 minutes from Anchorage, which is close enough if you want to visit a bar, but far enough where you can still get the "Alaska" experience. The house came equipped with basically everything you need including pots and pans, laundry, hair dryer, games etc. It was also set up in a very clever way with the living area upstairs and the bedrooms being located downstairs for more privacy. We simply loved the stunning view from diningroom/living room and the large deck. We highly recommend going for a hike on Mt. Baldy. The trail starts just up the road the house is located at. Overall this was a great place to stay, whether you just wanted to relax and enjoy the scenery, go on a mountain adventure or party in the bars in the city.
We loved the house and the view. This was a very nice quite location and it accommodated our large group of 9 perfectly. We had 2 small children in the group an having the bedrooms down stairs was great. The parents were able to take them down stairs to rest while everyone else stayed up. The house was clean and homey. It was our first vacation rental and it made us love them. It was great to feel like you were coming come after a days outing instead of feeling out of place in a hotel room. They were even kind enough to let us have a potluck barbecue with the rest of the group that traveled with us, 18 people over for dinner. The deck was perfect for this giving us no worries about the inside getting dirty for extra people visiting. It was awesome to be able to get all of us together for a family style barbecue after our moms memorial. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel this would not be the case, the appliance were dated, but who cares they worked and were clean. If you are looking for a great home that is clean, maintained and with comfy beds for all you will find it here. We loved having 3 king beds and 3 bathrooms.
We were a group of three siblings (& spouses) in Eagle River for a family wedding. The great room and 3 bedrooms suited our needs perfectly. The home was clean, well-maintained and very comfortable. Views to the west were outstanding. Though most of our time was spent in and around Eagle River and Anchorage, we did manage to enjoy an easy hike at Eklutha Lake and the Knik River area. We could not have been more pleased with this VRBO accommodation and would highly recommend it to others.
Nice home with great views of the mountains. The home was plenty big for the 6 adults that stayed. While there, we experienced water pressure issues in the master bath shower, kitchen faucet & 1/2 bath faucet which meant 6 adults sharing 1 shower which was a bit inconvenient. The family was very apologetic & although they were not able to fix the issue while we were there they were quick to respond when we let them know of the issues. Apart from that the home was comfortable & conveniently located to all the day trips we took.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Eagle River house! It felt like a home away from home, and was a nice retreat after our daily adventures around Alaska. The views from the house were incredible! We loved rocking on the deck, and making meals in the kitchen. On our last day there was a mama moose and baby moose in the driveway, which was exciting to see! Kelly made things super simple, and was very accommodating for our group. The house felt plenty big for our group of 10.
