Welcome to Lilli’s House! Home sleeps up to 6 adults.
**For more details about specials for this home, see the Sanctuary Vacation Rentals website or call our office directly.
Lilli's House has been a favorite vacation rental destination for many families since 2003. We are delighted to offer this charming home as a new addition to the Sanctuary Vacation Rentals portfolio. The same family still owns the home and it will continue to have their warmth and involvement in addition to the Sanctuary touch. Go directly to the SVR website to read many 5-star reviews that once appeared on the Owners' Homeaway/VRBO listing (unfortunately, with the recent management transfer, Homeaway was unable to move the reviews over to the new listing. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals is dedicated to keeping the same level of service as before).
A Carmel home that was a renowned gathering place for local notables in the 1960s and ‘70s is still a wonderful place to get together with family and friends, with a patio that’s perfect for conversation and entertaining, and comfortable rooms that lend themselves to complete relaxation.
Located in a quiet Carmel Woods neighborhood, the 2400 square feet, 3-bedroom, 2 bath residence is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, yet still close enough to walk to Carmel-by-the-Sea’s restaurants, galleries and boutiques. The remodeled single-story home is just 10 minutes away from golfing and dining at Pebble Beach, or 10 minutes from the Victorian homes and butterfly groves of Pacific Grove. It’s a 15-minute drive to Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row and a half hour from Big Sur.
The house was built in 1950 by a well-known local clothing designer and her husband, and in past decades, it was a popular happy hour spot for politicians, artists, writers and celebrities. Still owned by the family, the 2,400-square-foot home continues to offer comfort and style, beginning with the fenced front patio framed with moss-covered coastal live oaks, azaleas and ferns, ideal for drinks, dinner or just lounging.
Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows give expansive views of the patio garden. A unique triangular gas-burning Carmel stone fireplace opens up to both living room and entry areas. Radiant heating throughout most of the house keeps it cozy even on foggy days, and upholstered sofas and chairs in the living room and family rooms are welcome places to curl up with a book or enjoy a glass of wine.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary wine and cheese, passes to the renowned Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.
Newly updated appliances in the kitchen are complemented by hand-painted tiles created by a local artist, and the adjacent dining room includes a tiled bar area and a custom-made oak table with seating for 8. Hardwood floors join the kitchen and dining room, and a washer and dryer are available off the kitchen.
The living room includes a large built-in bookcase with a wide variety of reading material available. A family room just off the living room includes a foosball table as well as a 47-inch HDTV with DVD player.
The master bedroom includes has a sleigh queen bed and views of the private patio, a 40" HDTV and an interior door leads to a tiled bathroom with glass shower, pedestal sink and adjustable mirror, as well as a separate half bath with toilet and sink.
Down the hallway is a second bedroom with twin beds, a bathroom with a shower, and a third bedroom with a sleigh queen bed and a private door leading out to the front patio. All bedrooms have new luxury bedding.

It was like living in an atrium. Walls of windows, super cozy, quiet, and peaceful, with modern amenities, updated kitchen and bathroom and beautiful courtyard with indoor outdoor feel. Quiet and serene, yet close to town. Perfect. Loved working with Sanctuary Vacation Rentals. They really took care of us for a few months while we looked for a long term home.
