IRON HORSE RESORT:

Location and Skiing Access: The Iron Horse is half way between the base of Mary Jane ski area and the Winter Park base area, on the Corridor Run. Access to the Corridor Run is direct from the 5th floor door at the end of the hall (south from condo c5053). Ski down the Corridor Run to the new gondola at the Winter Park base and ski in from the left side of the Mary Jane run. In the early Fall, Spring and Summer, the Corridor is usually a dry walking path, with easy access to the Winter Park base area restaurants, a Starbucks, and shops just 1/3 of a mile away, less than a ten-minute walk.

The Iron Horse has the only indoor-outdoor pool in Grand County. The exercise room (on Level 1) was completely renovated in 2022, including new exercise equipment. Steam rooms are located adjacent to the exercise room. There's also a game room, and a meeting area adjacent to the lobby. Massage treatments are available at the Iron Horse by appointment.

THE SKI AREA:

Winter Park offers three main peaks, with a total skiable area of 3,060 acres! 144 trails are available to skiers of all ability levels. Winter Park usually gets much more snow than most other ski areas in the state.

Over the last three years Winter Park was named the Best Ski Area in North America by USA Today.

WINTER PARK:

Winter Park has very comfortable, relaxed, authentic feel, and lots of improvements have been made overt the last several years. A wide variety of restaurants are available, ranging from the basics like McDonalds and Subway, to mid-scale bistros, grills, and brewpubs, to fine dining. Great barbecue, handcrafted pizzas, gourmet hot dogs, steaks, seafood, Mexican and Chinese foods can all be found in downtown Winter Park. A convenient, full-service grocery store is now available in downtown Winter Park, Fireside Market & Eatery.

Very cozy & convenient!
After an initial glitch in checking in (luckily, it was quickly rectified), we had a lovely stay at Marc’s studio condo. We did have to remove our roof box to park underground (very worth doing in a heavy snowstorm) due to a low celling in the garage, but the luggage carts and elevators made up for that! Just make sure to put the box somewhere it is allowed to be kept (we put it inside our vehicle). The convenience of this unit is superb; we even had lunch here one day. We’d love to return!

Adorable convenient studio
Marc is awesome. He responds right away. The studio was cozy and so convenient. You actually ski in and out from the 5th floor where the condo is. There is a full kitchen and so nice that they have spices. I also loved the Kuerig. There were plenty of pods but I brought my favorite too. I’m definitely coming back!

Convenient Ski-in/Ski-out
Great location with easy access to both Winter Park and Mary Jane runs. Convenient access to luggage carts and elevators made check-in and check-out seemless. Marc was very communicative, accessible and an overall great host. Highly recommend!

About the host

Hosted by Marc Miller

Host profile image
Owners are Marc & Laurie Miller, of Louisville, Colorado. We are active Coloradans who enjoy running, hiking, motorcycling, fly-fishing, golf, train trips, and trying new foods and restaurants. We will always have great recommendations for travelers visiting our condo based on our own experiences.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Iron Horse because it is the ultimate SKI-IN SKI-OUT property - but it is wonderful to visit year-round. We like Winter Park for its easy access - with no need to drive through the busy Interstate 70 tunnels - but also because the town is casual, comfortable, and laid-back. The scenery is spectacular and we always feel far-removed from metro Denver at Winter Park. When the high temps of Denver reach the 90s, Winter Park is usually 15 to 20 degrees cooler..

Our treetop, east-facing unit on the 5th floor is the ideal location - just a walk down the hall takes you directly to the Corridor ski run, for the best possible ski-in ski-out access, as well as a place to star a walk, run or hike in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Iron Horse is nestled in the Arapahoe Forest, but the Winter Park base area and all its amenities - including Starbucks and several nice dining choices - is just a short walk away.

What makes this property unique

Iron Horse visitors can relax completely, in pleasing surroundings - secluded from the busy Mary Jane and Winter Park base areas and the town of Winter Park. Peacefulness and relaxation are main benefits of the Iron Horse, but visitors can play hard and work out hard. What better way to reward a day on the slopes, a 20-mile bike ride, or a 5-mile high altitude run, than to have a spa treatment on-site, jump into the steam rooms or outdoor hot tubs? At the Iron Horse visitors can prepare a home-cooked meal in the compete, full-service kitchen in their condo. The 5th floor at the Iron Horse is absolutely perfect for skiers- but also anyone wishing to take advantage of the many outdoor activities readily available in the area.
