The Getaway Chalet is a wonderful secluded property for a large group. Picturesque views surround this chalet and bunkhouse. Lots of sleeping, camp style in bunk beds, for up to 13 friends or family (15 for overflow). Two buildings, a chalet and a bunkhouse provide accommodation for a small group (or just two) or a large group. Bunkhouse sits empty if you prefer the cozy romance of the chalet only.
Cook up a delicious meal on the outdoor grill, or warm yourself up in the hot tub, while gazing up at the stars. Relax in the warm living room in the plush seating area, with large windows providing views of the charming wooded area. Beautiful wood accents light up this lively space. The kitchen is roomy enough for family cooking fun! The chalet also provides a work area next to a cozy fire place.
The master bedroom is lofted, and includes a TV. An adjoining upstairs deck gives a scenic view of the lush surrounding woods.
The bunker provides a spacious game and activities room, complete with large seating area, foosball, as well as two adjoining children's rooms with bunk beds and two bathrooms.
No matter the season, the Getaway lodge is a perfect spot to indulge in all this mountain area has to offer.
There are so many problems with this place it is difficult to know where to begin.
When we first pulled up to the place we thought it was abandoned. The grass had not been cut, and the deck around the back of the house is warped with broken and rotted wood. It looks like if someone walked on it it would immediately fall down. A number of the houses in the neighborhood looked the same way.
The front of the house shown in the pictures faces away from the street to busy Hwy 410, thus you hear a lot of road noise at night. We entered the bunk room first and immediately noticed the demolished wet bar. It looks like someone took a sledgehammer to it and left all the debris there. There are electrical wires hanging from the ceiling and the carpet was damp by the door.
Respecting the chalet, we entered the front door to find a decent looking kitchen, dining and living room. However it was quickly overshadowed by the gas station like bathroom in the main house and the numerous spiders and cobwebs. The master bedroom is on the upper level and there were also exposed electrical wires going to a light that had no junction box. Additionally, some of the light switches in the unit are in odd locations. I am not sure if there is an electrical code that wasn't dismissed by the "electrician" who did work there.
The only plus about this place is its proximity to the Sunrise entrance at Mt Rainier, otherwise the place should be condemned.
The house and furnishings were nice, if rustic. The dishes in the kitchen were dirty and there were very limited supplies for cooking, it was a strange assortment of kitchen utensils (4 pizza cutters but no cookie sheets or anything to bake in the oven with). The second night the toilet in the bunk house started acting up to the point where we stopped using it. The next morning it was fine. The bunk house also smelled very strongly of carpet cleaner and the carpet was wet and remained wet the entire weekend. The smell was so potent and abrasive that 2 of us ended up not being able to use it the second night and slept on the couches in the main house. The lack of firewood was also a surprise as there were pictures of a full wood rack on the website.
The living room and loft in main house were very nice. The elk in the yard and hot tubing was delightful.
This place was awesome. Perfect ski trip getaway. It slept everyone really comfortably and the hot tub was AMAZING after a hard day of shredding Crystal.
My friends and I were comfy in this cute little house for two nights. Had fun in the hot tub and playing foosball when we weren't hitting the slopes at Crystal Mountain Resort. Would definitely recommend this place for a trip up to the mountain!
The house was fine, but not worth the president's day rate. Not a bunk house, but a converted garage that is pretty dank. Beds and bathrooms were clean, but the kitchen drawers and cabinets were crumb filled and dirty and the knives, pans, etc should all be replaced. No instructions on how to use the TVs, so no way to watch. All in all were had a good time, but were not impressed.
We had a great time staying at the Getaway cabin. Perfect for us parents staying in the main house and the younger generation in the bunk house (the foosball table invited to nail biting tournaments!) and the hot tub in between. Everything needed was there (maybe a bit more fire wood would have been good), the well equipped kitchen helped us enjoying big dinners and cozy time after the best skiing in a long time (the knee deep fresh powder snow every morning was amazing!)
Thank you and we hope to come again!
