The house was exactly what we were looking for and the owners were very accommodating.
Our team of 10 adults stayed at Eagle Haven for a staff retreat and it was a great experience! The property is beautiful and the home was spacious and comfortable for both group meetings and individual downtime. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals. Unfortunately, it rained pretty much the entire time we were there, but we were still able to appreciate and enjoy our beautiful surroundings. We were also thankful that Owen was easily accessible at all times. We would definitely recommend and return to Eagle Haven!
Overall this is a very nice home with extraordinary outdoor space including a pool, dock and large yard well suited for yard sports. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need to cook for a large group. We spent the weekend swimming, snacking, playing croquet and pool. The owner welcomed us and provided lots of useful information on local places to eat and adventure which was very kind and appreciated.
There were a few downsides to note -- the foosball table and the fire pit were both broken which was disappointing. The owner is very upfront about the need to provide your own toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags. However I found it odd that a few of the bathrooms either had no hand soap/hand towels, and others the hand soap was basically empty. To me that is a hygiene issue that should be addressed. Lastly check out is 10 am, which is early but that's fine as it was part of the agreement we signed. However, we found it a little odd/pushy that the owner was walking around the grounds of the home at 930 am while we were the in the midst of cleaning and packing.
Those few things aside, it was a wonderful weekend at a beautiful home.
Owen was diligent about contacting us prior to the stay, and was waiting at the property when we arrived. He spent a few minutes going through the rules and regulations associated with the house and grounds, and was kind enough to provide some flexibility on check-out time, for which we were thankful.
The house itself is well appointed and large, even for our group (12 adults). There were multiple large spaces for meetings and gatherings, accompanied by smaller spaces for breakout sessions. Everyone enjoyed the pool, which was very clean thanks to the automated skimming and cleaning system. We even had our last session of the day, poolside.
The kitchen was spacious and equipped enough to cook five meals for 12 adults, and the exterior grill was clean and all tanks were filled. The driveway and grounds accommodated our 4 vehicles easily. There were no neighbors to speak of (save for a loan dog that wandered through and the nightly visitation of the window-clinging tree frog). Quietude was certainly easy to come by.
A rock solid place for a gathering of professionals for a retreat or conference.
We had a great experience at Eagle Haven. The house is gorgeous and very well kept. The owners are kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen is very well equipt. We had a little trouble with A/C and they had it fixed immediately. The house has so much space, there was plenty of room everyone to be doing what they want. The pool table and ping pong table kept the kids entertained when it was too hot to be outside. There is a nice selection movies provided by the owners as well. The dock provided endless hours of fishing and fun. We rented a boat and a jet ski for 5 days of our stay. For those who didn't fish, the pool was a lovely place to cool down and have some fun. Really couldn't have asked for more, except for maybe a nice brick firepit for evenings outside.
My extended family and I just stayed at this property and the experience was wonderful. We had a group of 15 with ages from 13-79, and all enjoyed this location. It was a very hot week, but all loved the pool which was good sized and well designed - even the fencing around it allowed for an unobstructed view of the water and gorgeous surroundings. The house and property were well maintained and very clean. Beds were comfortable (the bunks would be a little small for adults, but were fine for kids); towels and sheets were of good quality. The kitchen was also very well equipped, and there was plenty of room for dining. Honestly the house was larger than we envisioned by looking at the pictures, with plenty of private spots to get away when with a large group. We were lucky that the weather was great, but in the evening the kids enjoyed the pool table, ping pong table, and foos ball. The owners also had a good stock of movies which were appreciated. We privately arranged for a rental boat which we were able to dock right at the property for added fun. The location is a little remote - about 10 minutes from Cambridge, but not inconvenient for dining out or getting supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed the local seafood in town and also traveled to St. Michaels for a meal out. We would definitely consider returning to this location. The owners were very responsive and accommodating, and we would highly recommend this property.
Don't forget to visit Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, referred to as the "Everglades of the North," and called one of the "Last Great Places" by the Nature Conservancy.
