About Heather Guidi

I came to Bocas 20 years ago from British Columbia, Canada.

Heather Guidi purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Heather Guidi chose Bocas del Toro

We are conveniently 3 miles and $3 short taxi ride to the town center. We didn't want to live too close to the action of town and chose to build just outside of town on a hill across the street from the beach. This property has mature tropical gardens and all of birds, butterflies, insects, and monkeys that go along . This is known as a "canopy highway" as we are on the main travel route of the monkeys and many birds that inhabit the undisturbed jungle around the property.

What makes this cottage unique

We are so close to town yet can enjoy the "canopy highway" which is the term used to describe a main travel route of the monkeys and many birds that inhabit the undisturbed jungle around the property.

Notes:
From the hammock, there is a birds eye view into the trees. One can gaze out into the foliage watching for monkeys, and the many birds and insects that visit. Monkeys are heard, just out of sight, making lots of noise. A big male is howling and causing a scene. Some smaller monkey chatter, probably babies. The ocean waves are always in the background and the hypnotic drone of insects lulls one into a state of irresistible relaxation. Other frequent visitors include the Montezuma Oropendola. These are large black birds, with long bright yellow tail feathers. Their outrageous calls make them very entertaining and hard to miss. The Oropendola travel in groups of 7 or 10, cackling wildly as they feed on nuts from tree to tree. I have seen their nesting tree near by, where they have around 20 pendulous nests.
