A watercolor artist for over 35 years, I have become a gardening fanatic since the purchase of this simple Villas, New Jersey property in 2010. Also an animal lover and owner of a spoiled Lhasa Apso named Chloe', I have made special accommodations to invite hummingbirds and butterflies into my garden to feed and thrive. I was drawn to this quaint town after embarking on a body of artwork called "Streets of Cape May" where entire streets of the historic town are illustrated in vibrant panorama watercolors. Wanting to start a large garden as an added palette to my creative portfolio I searched outside of Cape May and found the perfect location for all I needed to express. Wanting to share these surroundings with other art and garden enthusiasts (other than my family) I have opened up my home's private apartment to those who thirst for all of the special beauty this area has to offer.
Lisa purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why Lisa chose Villas
I fell in love with Cape May on my first visit and was compelled to dedicate my artistic career to capturing it's glorious streets in watercolor panorama paintings. I also yearned to start a significant garden, having outgrown my postage stamp size yard in Philadelphia. How perfect was my find when I ventured north and happened upon a town called "Villas" where the reasonably priced cottages offered the land that I was in search of. Just a bonus, of course, that the bay beaches were just two blocks away allowing my little dog, Chloe' the ability to satisfy her own desires.
What makes this Apartment unique
Not just your average rental, this dwelling sits inside gorgeous BayRose Garden, with three seasons of floral beauty. Additionally, the owner is available for private tours or just feel free to roam the gardens on your own. If you are an avid or beginning gardener be sure to ask for the plant tag book for specific plant information and enjoy the BayRose Garden diary that has been left in your suite for personal garden stories and information. Not only do you get to enjoy the colorful garden display, but the cottage walls are decorated with the original “Streets of Cape May” panorama series to enjoy and even purchase to take home with you. (please see the entire series at: www.streetsofcapemay.com ) The owner is on the premises and available to you 24/7 with local information, garden tours and personalized dog-sitting services. Not just walking and feeding, but if you dog needs extra attention, more time will be spent than just the average sitter. So if you want to spend a night at the casinos in Atlantic City, rest assured, your best friend will be well cared for with overnight company. ***Pet care rates vary depending on specific services.

Close enough to Cape May attractions and beaches to be convenient but far enough away to not be surrounded by tourist traps. Owner Lisa going above and beyond to make sure your stay is a success. We'll be back!
Excellent guests that experienced all Cape May has to offer. I especially appreciated their enthusiasm over the Streets of Cape May artwork.
You don't know me but trust in me when I say PERFECT.

Sweet Pea's owner makes sure you have all your need - from soup to nuts. #KINDNESS Side patio. Bar-be-Que. All comforts of home. Summertime gardens make for a lovely view each day. Everything is easy to get to- don't let that make you deter from your own private paradise getaway.
Wonderful, restful retreat
A cozy, comfortable, and immaculately clean cottage -- perfect for a week's stay. Such a gorgeous garden, too. We loved grilling out each evening on the private patio. The owner, Lisa, is truly hospitable and friendly, close-by if you need her, but very respectful of guests' privacy. We enjoyed being a short walk from the bay beaches and only about a 15 minute drive to the heart of Cape May. We look forward to returning!
Perfect guests with a darling dog. I was thrilled that they enjoyed the new barbecue patio just installed this season. Left The Sweet Pea in perfectly clean condition. I hope to see them again soon.
A Perfect Getaway Weekend Cottage
The Sweet Pea Cottage was just perfect for my husband and I and our little dog. It is immaculate, well equipped and tastefully decorated. It is located down the block from the dog friendly bay beach in a quiet neighborhood. The owner, Lisa, is an artist, animal lover and gardener. She offers dog walking/sitting services which we took advantage of when we went to Atlantic City for a concert Saturday night. I truly enjoyed our stay, especially chatting with Lisa about gardening and getting a tour of her garden with its unusual and beautiful plantings. A lovely place - I highly recommend it.
Beatrix, my new best friend, loved her walk and especially her treats afterward. I was so glad that this couple entrusted me with their adorable seven month old Welsh Corgie. The three of them had a fine time at Sweet Pea Cottage.
"It's Better on the Bay!" That's what I tell people who ask why they should choose to stay in Villas, NJ when wanting to tour historic Cape May.
Simply put, if you are traveling with your dog the expansive bay beaches, only two blocks away, are available for mile long walks with your best friend (and significant other) every day of the year. The quiet fall months are especially enjoyable with warmer weather than you might expect.
For an added doggie-treat take your four-legged friend for a meal at Harpoon Henry's where pups of every shape and size are allowed to languish under the tables as "the people they own" enjoy a casual meal while watching the sunset. (click on links and video for website)
Additionally, offering all of the amenities of any small town such as restaurants, bars, parks, laundromats, grocery stores, gardens and much more. Just driving around the neighborhood offers a feast of small home gardens where proud property owners are eager to talk about their plants.
Historic Cape May is a 15 minute drive for beach activities, dining, festivals, art shows, dinner theater, water sports, whale and dolphin watching, wine tasting, trolley tours, walking tours, bike riding, sight seeing, golf, mini golf, batting cages and almost anything else your imagination will allow.
The Wildwood Boardwalk is a short drive away as well with a water park and all kinds of activities not to mention local restaurant fare and classic seashore treats like salt water taffy.
If seafood is on your mind you won't have to venture any further from your rental suite than a few blocks to get the best take-out seafood in Cape May County. "Fish and Fancy" has some of the tastiest local seafood at the most reasonable prices you can find anywhere. So don't bother to drive into Cape May for a great meal; Fish and Fancy is proud to call Villas, NJ home. (click on links and video for website)
If bird watching is your thing Cape May Point is the biggest migration point in the world, hosting thousands of visitors a year from the professional participants in the World Series of Birding to the beginner with their first pair of binoculars.
Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC), the organization that helped to secure the town of Cape May's place as a historic landmark, is host to many summertime events. Take a tour of their website to make sure you are here for your favorite activities. (click on links and video for website)
In closing, I just can't say enough about my favorite place in the world, so come and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
