Junk

Where should I start? The fact that we only slept 2 hrs as my kids were freaking out from the dirty sheets and the spiders and the bugs. So we came in and we saw the front door looks old and dirty. I was like okay this is an old house. We opened the door and the old dusty smell hit u like a train. Then u see the dust everywhere ( I did ask for extra dust cleaning as we are allergic and I was told they clean very well but they can't grantee no dust at all) I am not sure they even dust or clean the floor at all.

The bathrooms were dirty and the shower downstairs doesn't work. So now it's 8:17am and no one is able to take a shower. The shower upstairs is dirty with hair on the wall of the shower. And the water doesn't come out right. We found used towel behind one of the bedrooms door. There is no AC there are small fans that make no difference. It's very very hot.

To leave the windows open that's mean u r taking a risk of having more bugs coming in through the broken screen. Or someone comes in as the windows are right there close to the dirty stairs where I've seen shady people in there. Oh yeah, the stairs to go the bedrooms and the bathroom downstairs ( the basement) is another story it's not safe at all and u could easily hurt ur self-going down if you are not careful. The washing machine smells horrible. The dryer is very loud and it makes shaking sounds that make u fear it will fall down. And after one hour and a half, my clothes are still wet.

The pictures u see posted by them is way better cleaner version from the real life. I took tons of pictures of the dirt and old broken flat they are renting out.

Parking is another issue. Don't even think about finding a place to park as if u don't have a permit to park on the street u will take a ticket. Oh yeah, a simple permit they can get and include in the rent is something they don't even offer. So don't plan on finding free parking as there is no free parking until after 11 until 9:00am What else. Oh yeah the beds are not comfy and I would rather sleep on the floor than the beds but the floors are dirty and there are bugs.

Overall. This place needs to be fixed big time. For the amount of money, they are making renting out this place they should be able to fix it very well. This flat is not worth to even pay $50 per night.

I did complain to FaltBook about it and they refunded the cleaning payment to me. i think they should refund the whole thing to me as none of us slept or was able to relax.

Eclectic YES. Meaning Old and Not Clean ? I remember now.

  • 2 of 5

We were a large group of 9. 5 bedrooms. Great for College Kids looking for a not out of this world expense. As older folks in our 50's, we found the place in need of a deep clean and a little less than. Arrival, we were locked out. Flatbook came to the rescue 30 minute wait, another 30 min wait till an owners rep showed up and gained us entry. Owner rep was pleasant, Flatbook bought us a 6 of Molson. Nice. Front door and stairs were filthy. We needed to buy a shower curtain for upstairs bathroom right away. We bought a coffee maker that made a POT of coffee versus the one cup Keurig Maker which we ran out of those little pods not through the first morning round of coffee. Left the curtain and coffee maker. ENJOY ! LOL. Flatbook people were very nice throughout reservation process. Offered to bring more coffee pods (LOL) and reimburse us for the Shower curtain. We passed. Was an inconvenience. We went for Jazz Fest. A little out of the way for the festivities. We knew that booking. Oh Well, Lots of things to do and eat in this "up the hill section of Montreal". We still love the city but won't be back to this place. Place has potential. One of the downstairs beds was on the floor, frame but on the floor. TOO OLD FOR THAT ! I always suggest an OWNER STAY IN THEIR RENTAL AT LEAST ONCE EVERY SIX MONTHS to see how the place runs. They may have no idea of the condition.

Map

Nearest Airport
20.1 Kilometres
Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport

Near anything you could possibly want in Le Plateau; this is a prime location putting you between several of the hottest boulevards in the city: St Laurent, St Denis, St Catherine street. St Laurent, nicknamed ‘the main’, is home to a fabulous nightlife, wonderful restaurants (including Montreal’s famous Schwartz’s), cool clothing stores with local and international designers a like. A couple streets to the east is St Denis, with its own range of bars and clubs, eateries, fashion and all-around-neat-stuff stores. If you’re up for a bit of a walk, part of Ste Catherine around Place-des-Arts turns into a pedestrian-only walkway to play host to various festivals like just for laughs and Francopholie.

The Mont Royal Park is also a couple blocks away. On Sundays, the park becomes a lively, exciting place where people from all around the city congregate to drink beer, wine and enjoy the outdoors.

About Montreal:

Few cities can match Montreal’s eclectic charm. Where else can you overhear a conversation move fluidly between French and English all while enjoying haute cuisine in the shadow of a mountain with a giant lightup cross on top? And that’s just an average day. After long winters, Montrealers greet the summer with abandon, spilling into the parks with picnics or outside to enjoy a world-famous festival or a 5 à 7 (Montreal’s version of happy hour) on one of the city’s many terrasses.

Did you know?

- Frederick Law Olmsted – the architect behind New York City’s Central Park – also designed Mount Royal.

- No building in Montreal can be taller than the cross on the Mount Royal.

- The very first hockey game in the world was played in Montreal on March 3rd, 1875 at Victoria rink. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it ended in a fight.

- There are more than 350 km of bike paths in Montreal.

- With 4 universities, 12 CEGEPs and 7 other degreeawarding institutions within an 8km radius, Montreal has the highest concentration of postsecondary students of all major cities in North America (Boston is a close second).
