This beautifully appointed garden apartment is located on the ground floor of a 4 story brownstone in the heart of Harlem. The home offers modern comfort while retaining its historic charm. The brownstone is situated on a tree-lined quiet street with friendly neighbors and many conveniences nearby. Only steps away, you'll find some of Harlem's most trendy restaurants. Also close by are grocery stores, museums, parks, the metro (4 blocks), the Apollo theater, and more.
You will enjoy a tastefully decorated 1 bedroom apartment with all of the comforts of home. The large bedroom includes a queen size bed with luxury mattress and Talalay latex mattress topper. Linens and pillows are provided. The window has a black out blind and linen curtains in case you want to sleep in. There is a nice seating area for two as well. A window AC is provided during the warm months, and there is also a ceiling fan to keep you cool.
The open living, dining, and kitchen area is inviting and colorful. The comfy sofa opens to a queen size bed if there are more than two staying. A HDTV with Direct TV (includes HBO) can be enjoyed after a long day touring the city. There is also a high speed internet Wi-fi.
The well-equipped kitchen includes good quality cookware, a variety of spices, condiments and utensils, in case you feel like cooking. There is a 5 burner gas stove, dishwasher, large refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven. Whole bean coffee is provided, as well as a variety of teas with electric kettle.
We also provide bicycles for your enjoyment. NYC has many bike lanes, and cycling is a great way to get around the city. It is only a 5 minute bike ride from the garden apartment to the top of Central Park. You can also ride to the Hudson River in about 10 minutes and use the bike path to visit The Intrepid, Chelsea Piers, Battery Park, South Street Seaport, Brooklyn Bridge, etc.. If you don't want to use our bikes, NYC has a biking program called Citibikes. There are bike stations in many parts of the city, so if you get tired of walking, you can hop on a bike to get you where you need to go. Weather permitting, biking around the city is tons of fun!
We had a great holiday, Jen and Pat were the perfect hosts - discreet, yet immediately available when needed.
They provided all the essentials (plus some delicious coffee beans). We borrowed the bikes and went for a ride along the Hudson and through Central Park.
The neighbourhood was friendly and interesting with some great restaurants nearby. The subway was easy for an express trip downtown.
We would recommend this place to anyone and would love to return.
Thank you Jen and Pat.
Excellent ! Owners are very responsive, and hospitable! Everything in perfect working order. Plenty of linens, towels, etc
All appliances new and up scale.
Will request return stay for certain.
This was the perfect apartement for our two-weeks-summerstay in New York City! Jen and Pat are great hosts, very welcoming and helpful, answered every question we had and gave us great tips on restaurants, sightseeing points and especial places of interests. The apartement was absolutely wonderful, very tastefully furnished, everything was in high quality, we didn't miss anything. What was really unique: the beautiful garden with vines and trees, a squirrel visited us, we could hear the birds singing every morning and in the dawn there were even firefles, which flew around. This garden was our oasis, coming back from our city-tours we looked forward to relaxing in it. The apartement is well located, there are two subwaystations in a range of a 3 to 5 minutes walk. We also recommend to take the buses. One bus leads on the 5th Ave. along the east side of the Central Park directly to the Guggenheim Museum and The Metropolitain Museum of Art and further on to the Center of Midtown. In walking distance of the apartement you find a lot of restaurants of every taste. Another great plus: There were 4 bicycles available! We often explored the environment by bike – you reach Central Park in 5 minutes. We hope we can return and live in this apartement again! Thank you, Jen and Pat!
We have stayed in many apartments in different countries and this is amongst the very best. The attention to detail practicalities of design and range of equipment are first class. Everything is of the highest quality including bed linen, towels, cooker, fridge, dishwasher, washer, dryer, etc. The bed is superb leading to a good nights sleep.
The bathroom has plenty of hanging points and shelf space and the shower is easy to control with plenty of hot water and space to turn around. The bathroom can be accessed from both the living area and the bedroom.
Jen and Pat are great happy to help if you need it but not intrusive in any way. They spent time explaining the use of the equipment in the apartment provided coffee, butter, oils, teas, spices, herbs and iced water. As well as all the bits needed to use the equipment provided.
There are a wide range of shops, takeaways and restaurants within easy walking distance. The bistro on the corner was a welcome stopping of point for a cold beer and a snack during their happy hour, and the Astor cafe 5 mins away for coffee and breakfast.
The nearest subway station on 135 and Lenox is under 10 mins walk and the southern tip of Manhattan can be reached with one easy change in 30-40 mins.
We would highly recommend this apartment and wish Jen & Pat all the best for the future.
We where met by Pat our host who gave us the rundown on the apartment when we arrived and we then settled in to our nine days in Harlem . The area is funky and historic (old and tired ) but is slowly undergoing redevelopment . Everyone was friendly and it appeared quite safe as we bused and trained every day and night. . In particular Jen was fantastic in the way she answered my emails giving us a sense of having a friend nearby.
The apartment was neat and clean and everything was as advertised . I'd stay there again ..
