Overview

Charleston Area House Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, sleeps 12

Beautifully decorated and built in 2008 - our home features a large family room that allows everyone to be together - a dining table that seats 8 and a large granite island with bar stools. The kitchen has stainless appliances and granite counter tops - it is designed for those in the family who love to eat while they watch those who love to cook!

The first floor features an open floor plan of the family room, kitchen, and dining area, with a half-bath off the entry, a bedroom with a king bed with it's own bath plus a Queen Sleep Sofa. The family room opens to the outside through 2 sets of sliding glass doors onto the porch/deck which has a gas grill, patio table for 6, and 5 wonderful rocking chairs!

The second floor has 4 bedrooms each with its own private bath. The master suite has a king bed, the 2nd bedroom a king bed, the 3rd bedroom a queen bed, and the 4th bedroom a king bed.

The family room has a Blu-ray player and 55' TV with WiFi connectivity, Netflix, Amazon or other streaming media accounts you have on your laptop can be wirelessly connected to the television to watch your favorite movies! Also every bedroom has a TV/DVD player.

The Beach is less than a 6 minute quick and easy walk and we are providing a large wagon (30'x48') you can use to pull all your towels, sand-buckets, and toddlers!

After the Beach, come home to a cool, tranquil backyard with pool and hot tub! The outdoor enclosed shower and landscaped yard are completely fenced in. There is a kids picnic table and water/play table. The swimming pool is heated with no additional fee April through October (heat turned off November through March).

We want to encourage families to enjoy our home as our 3 daughters and son-in-laws have 10 children (ages 9 - 1) and because of all our grandchildren we know what will make your vacation easier: 2 Pac-N-Plays with sheets and 2 high chair seats that strap onto a dining chair.

Thank you for considering our Beach home for your upcoming vacation!

We hope to hear from you...

About Ann Weathersby

Being semi-retired has allowed us more time with our 10 grandchildren, ages 9 - 1. Our three daughters and son-in-laws all live 15 minutes from our home in Tennessee, so it is always filled with happy chaos! Isle of Palms is 6 hours from our home in East Tennessee and with interstate all the way, is an easy drive from the Smoky Mountains to the beautiful Isle of Palms.

Why Ann Weathersby chose Charleston Area

The house is 2 blocks (6-7 minute walk) to the beach and away from heavy traffic and the "off the road beach parking for the public". After a few hours at the beach, you can still enjoy the weather and water with the heated pool and hot tub. The Isle of Palms Rec Center is 2 blocks away, with facilities for tennis, basketball, baseball, soccer, cardio room, gym and a municipal size playground for the kids. The floor plan for the house, with open kitchen and family room, seems to bring everyone together in the great room , and from the reviews and our own experience , being together with family and friends is the most important part of the vacation.

What makes this house unique

One of the great things about Isle of Palms, besides the beautiful beach, is the 20 minute drive to Charleston. With its historic district, horse and buggy rides, shops, art and history museums, warm pralines and fabulous restaurants, time spent in Charleston adds a new dimension to a vacation on the beach. Anyone who has visited Charleston will always tell you the food is unbelievable and will quickly recommend their favorite restaurant.

Here are a few national ratings and awards for some of the restaurants in Charleston.

Pure luxury for our BIG family! Comfortable & Well Appointed!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family does a week together every other year. Ten of us in all...including 4 kids 10 and under. This lovely home was the perfect spot for our time together!

The house is beautiful...and furnished in comfortable luxury. All five rooms had private baths, large comfortable beds, and flat-screen TVs. Strong wifi signal even by the pool. The large living space is open-concept kitchen, dining and living room. Whether cooking in the kitchen, watching the game on TV, or putting together a puzzle on the dining room table...we were all together!

The chef's kitchen was large and well-appointed. High-end appliances including a large gas range. Unlike many vacation rentals, pots & pans...dishes...flatware...all in abundance...and it all matched :-)! The four stools at the island allowed the spectators in our family to enjoy the cooks working away! Webber Gas grill was VERY handy.

And the back yard pool and spa? Perfect for the kiddos after a long day on the beach. Adults could sip an island beverage on the porch and still supervise the young'uns from the comfort of our rocking chairs.

It is a really quick walk to the beach. Lots of 'extras' like bikes and beach wagons (for which we were extremely grateful!!).

There are a few areas of the house off limits (the elevator, garage, and mysterious 3rd floor). But you truly don't miss access to those spots. We had an issue with the upstairs AC one evening, but the repair company was there within a few hours and had it fixed in no time.

I just cannot say enough good things! Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Family Beach Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This home is spacious and well equipped; our family of 7 adults and 2 under 4's had plenty of room and all we needed to enjoy our Isle of Palms trip. While its a bit of a walk to the beach, the wagons provided and the bikes that are at the house make it a snap, even with little ones. The park a couple of blocks down the street from the house is terrific too for the kids. The pool area with hot tub is just great - a beautiful pool and plenty of pool toys on site. As is typical on Isle of Palms, this home is close to several other homes, but it was very quiet and the yard is totally fenced. We found it to be accurately advertised and portrayed; very clean and comfortable. We'd recommend it to any family group visiting Isle of Palms. We especially loved Acme Lowcountry Seafood Restaurant!

Not worth the cost

  • 1 of 5

The kitchen is impressive with the island and the living area is comfortable. However, the bathrooms were very small and showers were less than impressive. For this type of investment, we expected more. The website shows the view from the balcony and we got there and were told that we were locked out and not allowed to go to the balcony where we thought we could see the ocean. Also, the photos showed the park/playground as if it was next door and it was blocks away from the house. Same with the ocean, we thought we had an ocean view and were closer. So. for the investment we made, and the photos we were sent, our expectations were much higher than reality. The outside around pool was not cleaned. The outside of the house was dirty and spider webs everywhere. There were used band aids on the pool surround as well as used hair ties and other disgusting things that were not cleaned up before we arrrived.

We were disappointed to say the least.

Owner's Response: My husband and I purchased our vacation home in Isle of Palms, with our three daughters and their husbands almost 5 years ago. It has truly been a blessing and an absolute joy to go to the beach with our daughters, son-in-laws and our 10 grandchildren, ages 1 to 9. We all have enjoyed every aspect of owning a beach home and have worked extremely hard to bring our renters the same enjoyment we have experienced. I was extremely disappointed and saddened to receive a one star review, when all our other reviews have given us the highest 5 star rating. I am sorry Lynn felt compelled to write such a review, but the Home Away/VRBO site has ben set up for renters to be able to express their feelings and opinions. However, there are some statements in her review that are not accurate and need to be addressed....... Our website and the additional pictures we sent, DO NOT have any views from the top balcony of our home. The balcony, that is referred to, is on the fourth floor, which is the attic. The attic contains the heating and cooling systems, and other equipment, and access to the attic is locked. Nowhere in our description do we say you can see the ocean from our home. Her statement about the park and playground need some clarification also. Our caption under the picture of the park states "just down the street" and it is, just down the street. The realty is, our home is located one house from the corner of Hartnett and 26th Avenue and the Isle of Palms Park and Recreation Area starts at the corner of Hartnett and 27th Avenue, just slightly over one block away. Look at our pictures and read all the other reviews, to see what our other renters have written about our home. Regardless, I am sorry that Lynn was disappointed, as we want all of our renters to have the same wonderful vacations we have experienced with our family.

Fantastic Family Friendly Rental

  • 5 of 5

First let me start off by saying that I usually never write reviews but I felt like I needed to make an exception for this one. From the beginning the owners of this place and the manager Ann were so extremely helpful. We had some scheduling conflicts as we were a large party and they went out of their way to accommodate our requests. When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the house looked exactly like it did in the pictures (which I have found most often not to be the case). The rooms were very nicely sized and the fact that each room had a bathroom was amazing. We were 4 couples with four kids under the age of 1 and we couldn't have asked for a better house (which came with 2 pack and plays and 2 high chairs). The pool in the backyard was great and the beach was only a five minute walk. We couldn't have asked for a better rental and would highly recommend this place to others.

Great family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

My family visited here a week ago and I can't say enough on how wonderful the property was. It was a great family vacation with a lot of laughs and adventures to the beach, downtown Charleston, Sullivan's Island (great places to eat) and Mt. Pleasant. The home was very spacious and the pool and jacuzzi were awesome! We will definitely come back for another vacation here.
