Stunning Island Retreat for the Whole Family in Honey Harbour

Bedrooms 4
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10 or 8 if adults only)

Welcome to Mermaid Island, where sun-soaked days on your private beach are followed by beautiful sunsets nestled in your Muskoka chair. This haven offers views that inspired the Group of Seven and other artists for over a century. Explore the 3-acre property, with it's lush forest and rocky terrain perfect for mini-adventurers. You may even stumble upon some wild blueberries! On windy days, head to the back of the island, where the comfort of a secluded bay awaits with another large deck and dock.

Huge decks maximize the opportunity for outdoor living. A large deck extends across the entire front of the cottage. The lower deck boasts an eight person hot tub with stunning views. A large dock can accommodate more than five boats, with deep swimming water off the end.

Inside, you will find white washed pine walls and ceilings and reclaimed barn wood floor boards that create a rustic aesthetic. The furnishings and amenities offer all of the comforts you would expect in a luxury rental.

Large, sliding doors not only offer incredible vistas of the bay, but allow the glorious breeze to flow through the cottage. The large open-concept main living area incorporates living, dining, and kitchen. Snuggle up in the chair-and-a-half in front of the large, stone fireplace in the living room. A television with playstation 2 is located in the living room as well. There is ample seating for twelve at the harvest table in the dining room. The kitchen is a masterpiece, with stunning Soapstone countertops, stainless-steel appliances, and a comfortable island. It is fully equipped, with every cooking utensil you would need to prepare Thanksgiving Dinner. Adjacent to the main living area is a separate room with a high-definition LCD television with Wi-Fi enabled surround sound blue ray player and NetFlix subscription.

Four comfortable bedrooms will accommodate your family and friends. All bedrooms have ceiling fans. The Master has a king sized bed, crib, and ensuite bathroom. The three remaining bedrooms share a bathroom. The first has a bunk bed system with a double on the bottom, a twin on top and a twin trundle. The second has two twin beds. The third has a queen bed. Blankets and pillows are provided. Please bring your own linens and towels. Both bathrooms have showers only (no bath tubs).

Transportation to this boat-access property is easier than you may think. If you do not have a boat, there are boat rentals available nearby. As well, the marinas in Honey Harbour offer boat taxi services or the number for a private boat taxi can be arranged.

About The Owner

My wife introduced me to cottaging early on in our relationship and I was hooked. The relaxation that comes with the serenity of being on a lake just doesn't happen in the city. Now that I am a dad with three young boys, relaxation has been replaced by play, and I'm loving every minute of it! I know the memories we will build for our boys at this special place will last a life time.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2011

Why The Owner chose Honey Harbour

My wife and I bought this cottage in Honey Harbour for its stunning scenery, amazing boating, and family friendly atmosphere. The added bonus is that you get that quintessential Muskoka feel in less then 2 hours from Toronto! You can't beat that.

What makes this cottage unique

We love that we have to take the boat everywhere we go. It's a mindset that we have embraced and thoroughly enjoy. Every time we get in the boat it is an adventure!

Spent our "mini moon" with my beautiful wife and I at this wonderful cottage for three nights. Pictures do not do it justice! Clean, contemporary and comfortable with everything you need for a great time. We rented a jet boat from our friends at muskoka power sports and it was great. Don't hesitate... This is the cottage you want to book!

Heaven on earth

This was our 2nd time at this beautiful property. There is nothing that isn't perfect here. We have our entire extended family with us, 10 people age range from 8-63yrs old. All of us are comfortable and happy. The amenities are first class. If I had to sum it up, it's cottage living in style. You have two parts of the island to enjoy. You have kayaking, fire pits, swimming, hot tub, biggest deck with a view that can only be described as heaven. Our family plans on staying here year after year, as long as Carla will have us. Carla has made it easy to ensure our families are happy and taken care of.

Stunning Honey Harbour Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have spent two summers visiting this special place. It has become an annual holiday/reunion with two families (4 adults & 4 children, ages 2 - 7). Every description of this property is accurate. The Honey Harbour / Georgian Bay area is beautiful. The property is stunning. And, most of all, the owners are first rate! They continue to go out of their way to make you feel as if the property is your own. This results in comfort and welcome wherever you go. The superb accomodations, idyllic setting and unmatched services provide for a lifetime of memories. We hope you are able to experience this.

One note: we would recommend having your own boat for the week. There is an abundance of places to see and things to do in town, on Beausoleil Island and in the 30,000 Islands.

Charming Georgian Bay Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cottage for 10 days in July-2012 with our two kids, with visits from my sister's four kids (all under the age of eight) and parents. The cottage is spectacular if you're seeking a get-away from the city, without completely foregoing certain necessary amenities (ie. WiFi, Netflix, etc.). The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout, reminiscent of one of Sarah Richardson's makeovers. It successfully blends rustic with modern, all within a cozy "feeling of home" environment. For kids who like to explore, there is much to do on the island! There are paths going in several different directions from the main cottage, leading down to a white sand beach, swamp (good to see frogs) and two separate docks. At nighttime, with the kids nestled into their beds, we enjoyed Sauvignon blanc in the jaccuzzi, while taking in the magnificent sunset and watching the stars slowly appear in the clear dark sky. For two days we rented a boat from the nearby marina and toured the lovely shoreline of Honey Harbour, marveling at the picturesque cottages from yesteryear.

Overall, I can't say enough about this perfect cottage. It has been upgraded with the utmost care and is a place to which you would be proud to invite royalty for a classy feast or unhealthy cheeseburger. We look forward to kicking back and enjoying our time once again this upcoming summer! Five stars all the way!!!
