Located deep in the mountains on Lake Sutherland this cabin is right next to Olympic National Park and some of the best hiking in the world! This is truly a jewel for hikers because it is so close to picturesque old growth forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking mountain vistas. The cabin is equipped with WiFi, a fully-equipped kitchen, and cozy comforts like gourmet coffee and a fireplace to roast marshmallows. Unwind after a long day of exploration in a loft with a comfortable queen-sized bed. Sleeps 6 with couch bed!
It's right next to some of the best hiking in the world! This Lake Cabin puts the Olympics at your doorstep. Only minutes from the Olympic National Park. It has a very rustic feel with a traditional northwest wood fireplace and rocking chair. The cabin also has modern comforts such as WIFI, and a 70inch Flat screen TV.
HighSpeed WIFI, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!! A few minutes only from Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls and Storm King trail head.
power was out when my party showed up at the location, trying to turn on one of the battery powered lights in the loft (mind you its pitch black) the glass vase that housed the light was broken, then was charged 200 dollars for the pier one 15 dollar vase,
usually when i rent a hotel or another house you think the power being on would be a no brainer. sorry i don't have built in night vision. Then both vrbo and the owner decided to both tell me both different things about who was going to refund my deposit, don't believe either party when they say 5-7 days refund on deposit, total bullshit.
but with all that said the cabin is honestly very beautiful and would say its worth it if the power works
What a nice stay complete with bubbling creeks along the road, sunlight streaming through the moss laden cypress trees, & birds diving for fish in Lake Sutherland. The very clean rustic cabin had thoughtful touches including nice towels, a good heater to warm you up, and basic kitchen necessities. We ventured to Hurricane Ridge to catch in the spectacular views and hike, enjoyed local fish in nearby Port Angeles, and relaxed with a good book in the cabin. Very relaxing!
100% loved this cabin. Mike was a great host, called us before we got there to make sure we had everything we needed. Finding and entering the cabin was simple and easy. The location is absolutely gorgeous. For two Mid-westerners, we were basically in awe the entire stay. The cabin is simple and quaint, yet does not feel crowded or cramped. My fiance and I had plenty of room. I would assume 4 adults would be the max if you're really worried about space. The view is astounding, the sunrise through the mountains is heavenly, the lake is a 30-second walk from the cabin door and at 8:30am the water was like bathwater (late August). Overall, we had everything we needed. Stove, coffee maker, silverware/cutlery, Brita water filter, small fridge and freezer shelf (don't plan on packing a weeks worth of frozen food in there though, just a forewarning). The shower provided warm water on demand (always a huge plus after hiking all day), plenty of towels, and clean (my fiance wants me to re-iterate that. It was rustic but clean, which was a big sigh of relief for her, lol). There was a TV with a DVD player in the bedroom and WiFi, if needed. Honestly, if you're out there you shouldn't be on these devices anyway, that defeats the purpose of visiting a National Park region. But hey, if it's raining, I guess that's a nice bonus. Getting to the beach areas (Rialto, La Push, Ruby) is about 90-120 minutes (Ruby might be a bit further, but not too much). Getting to the gate at Hurricane Ridge is about 60 minutes if you know the backroad road route. Traffic after the gate is always bad, so adjust about another 40 minutes to get to the top. Hoh Rain Forest is about 2 and half hours give or take. Honestly, this cabin location is perfect in respect to some of the best locations the park has to offer. Not to mention you can just hit the trailhead near the cabin which is about 7 minutes away. If you're looking for a location as a central spot for your hiking/boating/fishing adventures, look no further. Will be back without a doubt. A+++ Mike! You have an amazing cabin!
There aren't a lot of amenities to this cabin, but it had what we needed for sure. Table with 4 chairs, working kitchen, 2 queen beds. It was nice and tidy, and had plenty of towels. Our favorite part was access to the dock and diving board. The view of the lake was nice too. I wish we would have had more time to access the hiking and lake, but we were there for a wedding. If there was one con, it was probably the ladder to the loft bed. it was 2 couples, so one set of us had to go up. the round dowels were a little hard with bare-feet! we learned to put on at least flip-flops when traveling the ladder. Overall a very pleasant stay.
Mike's cabin is the perfect place to enjoy some fine hiking, gorgeous scenery, and fun on the lake. From this spot you can easily explore Hurricane Ridge, the Elwha river area, and Port Angeles. Driving west, all of Olympic Park and the Hoh Forest can be accessed within a couple hours drive.
Mikes cabin is just awesome! There are no other words to use. The views of the lake and mountains are all around you and the place is perfectly equipped for cooking and resting after a day of adventuring. Mike is also a very gracious host. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, and that we were enjoying our stay. He provided us with a wealth of helpful information on local hikes, dining, and excursions. I can't recommend this place highly enough. My family had a fantastic time. Thanks, Mike!!
We stayed at this cabin over the 4th of July. It's very bare bones, e.g. only a mini-fridge, has a sliding door with a 5 foot drop off to the outside -- be careful if you have kids!
The real problem, though, is the owner who will not return the security deposit despite the fact that we did not do anything wrong. The roof caught fire on the 4th either from a firework in the area (there were a lot) or a faulty fireplace, neither of which was our responsibility. Fortunately for everyone, my son saw the fire and kept the place from burning to the ground. We had paid for the insurance the owner required which covered half of his costs even though the fire was not a result of our actions. He refuses to return our security deposit and after over a month of trying to resolve this amicably, we have filed a complaint with HomeAway, who agrees that we are due to have our money returned.
The cabin is very old and needs maintenance and he is keeping money we are entitled to in order to offset his maintenance responsibilities. Instead of being grateful that we saved his cabin from burning down, he is shirking his responsibility as an owner. We were the victims of very bad luck and what could have been a life-threatening situation -- our kids slept right under that roof in the loft -- and we are being forced to pay extra; how unfair! I have never complained about anyone on HomeAway or eBay or any site; this is a first. I'm shocked that somehow the owner feels entitled to our money. This scary and infuriating event ruined our vacation. So no, I wouldn't ever consider staying there again.
