The coolest upscale rental in Marfa by far. This gorgeous home was built by 'Garza Design + Build' from the ground up. It was incredibly thought out to be magical and open. The natural light floods in the orange casement windows making it airy and bright. The vaulted steel and pecan ceilings make this home spacious and inspirational. Perfect for a personal retreat or a get away with friends and family. This property is enclosed by an 8 foot adobe wall creating a private, secluded compound. Enjoy the built-in outdoor bbq, xeriscape landscaping, indoor wood burning fireplace, central air conditioning and heat, sleep in loft, huge deep soaking tub and rain shower, tankless water heater. The kitchen has state of the art appliances including all of the dishes and utensils you need. It also has a new washer/dryer, large 15 foot in home theater dvd projector system for movie nights and a portable Bose ipod dock. It has a large antique dining table for intimate dinner parties. It’s family friendly (not childproofed), pets are allowed with deposit. All premium towels and linens are provided as well as down comforters. Store your items in the walk in closet. It sleeps 4-6 (can include queen size blow up mattress for additional people and couch bed sleeps one). It’s conveniently located in town on the main thoroughfare. A perfect landing for film or photography crews as well. Come have an incredible experience in Marfa where sweet dreams await you. Lounge on the screened in porch, outside in the peaceful garden or inside this beautiful home. Make it your own.

Highly recommend for your stay in marfa! Beautiful and comfortable.
We stayed with our two teenage boys on our first visit to Marfa. La Mistica was the perfect place to stay. Very Marfa. The property and accommodations were perfect for us. The boys loved the loft bed at the top of the wall stairs. Our favorite part about our stay was the big screen projector. We watched the documentary we found in the armoire, Cosmic Voyage, which got us excited about our visit to see the Marfa lights. We didn't want to leave. We would definitely stay there again!
Loved our stay at La Mistica! It looks exactly as it does in the photos. The space is filled with natural light so not a good option for those who want to close the curtains and sleep late. Perfect for one couple or a close knit family as the one bathroom and open floor plan doesn't provide much privacy. Great location close to town so you are five minutes (by car) from everything. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Marfa.
We loved our three days in Marfa at this bright, modern, airy house, easy to find, and the owner made it super simple to get in once we arrived. We came to see the Perseids meteor shower and the backyard was a great vantage point the first night. Unfortunately we got rain after that, but the screened porch was the perfect place to watch the storms come and go, eat meals, or just gaze at the lovely xeriscaped backyard. Clean, thoughtfully appointed, fun artwork perfectly scaled to the space, nice crisp linens, three options for sleeping - soft, medium, and firm. The ladder to the loft took a *little* getting used to---could be an issue for older travelers or anyone with an injury or other limitation. Rain showerhead wasn't the strongest water pressure, and does splash a bit so be aware of that before you step in.
It's 25 mins to the Prada store, well situated for excursions to Ft. Davis, the McDonald Observatory, and Balmorhea. Right next door to a pho restaurant (Marpho, get it?), a two minute walk from a Mexican food restaurant. Close to El Cheapo liquor but their inventory is NOT cheapo, so I'd recommend bring your own if you want wine, beer or cocktails.
Other things to note - if you're sharing space with people you don't know well, there's not a ton of privacy, but for two people or a family of four, was just right, especially as what you give up in having a bunch of rooms with doors, you gain back with the light and high ceilings, clerestory windows letting in plenty of sun. It is on Marfa's main street, so there's night traffic with 18-wheelers, and you can hear the train, but that is pretty much the case from Marathon to Valentine and beyond. Thanks so much; we hope to be back!
Everything we were looking for in a rental -- the back yard was perfect for star gazing, and the serene, stylish interiors we're perfect for kicking back and relaxing.
This was our second stay at La Mistica and it was great. The space is open, light and very comfortable. We stayed both times with our 18 year old son who loves the loft. The owner/manager is easy to deal with and very nice.
As mentioned in a previous review, the bathtub/shower is a bit kluge, but did not deter us from coming back, and we plan to do so again.
