Frankfort House Rental Photos and Description

The Castle house; on the corner of Park and M 22 across from St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Castle house offers four bedrooms upstairs and a first floor bedroom. With a bath on each level this home can accommodate up to 12 people. There's queen beds in every bedroom as well as a double bunk in the larger upstairs bedroom. The entire house is been newly refinished and refurbished and is waiting for your family and friends. In addition to the more than hundred years of history, the house comes with gas grill, plenty of offstreet parking, a nearly an acre of lawn, a back patio and a front porch. The house comes with all appliances, cooking equipment, washer and dryer, two full baths, towels and linen changed at least weekly.

Best of all its just a 10 minute walk to the beach! Choose a leisurely route through town and enjoy all the shopping and amenities Frankfort has to offer or take the shortcut to the steep stairs down directly to the undisturbed beaches which stretch miles to the north of the busy harbor.

Good House for Family Stay

  • 4 of 5

The house was wonderful! Clean! Very easy to walk down town to all the shops and restaurant. The walk to the beach was fairly easy as well. There was a Catholic church right across the street which made our Sunday morning less rushed. We went across the street to the park to play on the playground. We enjoyed our stay. Our son got married at the Crystal Lake Golf Club so it was close to where we needed to be.

The only improvement we would suggest is to have normal pillows available for use. The pillows provided were waterproof and flat and the plastic covering made us sweat profusely. Other than that our stay was great!

Unique House - Nice Family Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a great time at the Castle House. The house is very unique. With 5 bedrooms, the size was just right for our family (we had 9 people). The location was also nice. There were several times when we chose to walk downtown instead of drive, and it only takes about 10 minutes to get there. The house looks like it was remodeled in the last few years. The living room was decorated nicely and the floors looked good. As other reviewers mentioned, the upstairs particularly has a lower ceiling, so the taller members of our family showered in the downstairs bathroom. A few games were included, so we were able to use those for game nights. There were even some boogie boards and a beach umbrella available at the house. Frankfort is a really cute little town with nice shops, restaurants, and a beautiful beach. I know some people have complained about the road traffic, but that really didn’t bother us. There is also a large porch out front and a firepit in the back. I would recommend the house for a family getaway.

Comfortable stay

  • 3 of 5

The Castle House worked well for our extended family vacation with five separate families, though the house lacked in small ways to make it a five star stay. For example, it would have been helpful to have hooks in the bedrooms or bathrooms to hang towels and clothing. There was one air conditioning unit (which was appreciated!), but not many fans to circulate the cool air into the bedrooms. The house was picked up, swept and dusted upon arrival, but could have used a deep clean (particularly under furniture, corners of rooms, windows, etc.). The downstairs was comfy for our stay, though the bedrooms lacked character. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would recommend this property if you are looking for a basic rental.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the very helpful review! I will be adding fans in all the rooms and extra hooks in strategic locations. I have notified the housekeeper of your concerns about deep cleaning, it will be taken care of during the next break we have in guest stays. I have been planning to add more photos to liven up the upstairs bedrooms, I guess I better get those hung! I appreciate your comments and will do my best to make it a five star place ready for your next stay. Best! Charles

Good location

  • 3 of 5

The house is cool and historic but not completely practical if you're taller. The upstairs has very very low ceilings. The house is very clean and decently updated. Main Street is less than a minute drive. Lake Michigan is a two minute drive down Main Street or a 10-15 minute walk down the cliff. There is a different house right in the backyard that someone else lives in which was kind of awkward and not as private as the pictures make it look. I'll also say that we had 6 adults and 6 kids and we were pretty much on top of each other the entire week. I wouldn't think more than 10 people could stay at this house. Overall we enjoyed our vacation.

Nicely remodeled and very comfortable. Easy location to everything in area.

We had a great six days with our two adult children and their families of which one was visiting from out-of-state. The children loved the beach (with real sand) as their water experience is mostly with pools. We visited sleeping bear sand dunes, went putt putt golfing, took walks, visited daily the dairy maid (ice cream) and swimming. The Castle was home base allowing us to grill dinner and eat without always eating out. Relaxation in evening allowed children time to settle down with TV, board games and visiting. All in all a great week. Would consider returning.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable stay for 4 adults and 2 kids with extra space to spare. The house seems recently renovated. Everything is accurate on rental description. Road noise can be a bit distracting as it is located right on M-22, but otherwise a great convenient location.
