I am an interior designer. I have completed high end residential, hospitality, restaurants and bar design and and have been active in the design/development of new urban infill multi housing.
I have lived in this neighborhood since 1982. I have renovated many homes and historic buildings. I am so pleased that my effort has contributed to the re birth of OKC's urban core.
I have 4 dogs and 3 cats. All have found their way to my home and stayed.
My home is a duplex. I live upstairs with the carriage house in the back.
I welcome individuals who are kind and respectful to all people.
Michale Stapleton purchased this studio in 1995
The neighborhood located Downtown is over 100 years old and one of the most beautiful in Oklahoma.
The studio is located on the edge of the neighborhood. If you want to be near the activity but not in it , this is your place. The studio has a wonderful ambience feels like you are in a cabin in the woods. The woods in this case are 100 year old trees and very interesting assortment of turn of the century architecture. Your view from the windows of the studio is upon a beautiful belle epoque limestone museum.
This little studio was a labor of love for several years. It was a total wreck and required everything to be replaced and renovated. I do this for a living but when it is your own place you put it behind everyone else. When I completed it I thought I would use it for my design studio but all my design samples overwhelmed it.
So when we bought a small iconic mid century office building I moved the design clutter out.
Near everything Midtown, Auto Alley, Downtown, Uptown, Plaza District, Arts District, Film Row, Deep Deuce, Bricktown. You won't need a car. Uber is very affordable and I have two cruiser bikes.
We loved the decorations and the atmosphere of the studio house. The bed was comfortable and the information about Oklahoma City provided by the owner was very helpful for us to enjoy our visit. The owner was also available to assist us with questions we had about the property. We had a lovely breakfast at the Viceroy located in the Ambassador Hotel which the owner had recommended. We also visited the National Oklahoma Bombing Memorial which was respectful and worth the time we spent to visit the outdoor portion and the museum. I would also recommend going back at night when it is lit up. We also enjoyed the National Cowboy and Western Museum while there. We will definitely stay here again whenever we return to OKC!
I had a great experience during my two week stay. This seemed to be a good location and the carriage house was very well taken care of - Thanks Michale!
Loved this cozy, eclectic studio located in a gorgeous neighborhood. There were probably 100 interior design books and I could have moved in for a couple weeks to enjoy them all. Host was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants, etc. Excellent stay!
The studio apartment was very quaint and cozy. We picked it because it was close to the wedding venue that we were attending. The neighborhood was beautiful- big, old, and well-kept homes. Michale was very hospitable! My only compaint was the bed was a bit too soft so woke up both mornings with a kink in my neck. Otherwise, everything was very comfortable.
Michale greeted us warmly and gave us a quick tour of her studio apartment with suggestions for dining establishments nearby and fun things to do. The studio apartment was tastefully decorated, warm and cozy. The kitchen was filled with essential amenities for dining in if you wish, and the bathroom had upscale fixtures and big fluffy Turkish towels which we really enjoyed. The apartment is located near the revitalized downtown and is in an old wealthy neighborhood with many amazing mansions in the area. We highly recommend this studio apartment for a nice getaway.
I am so glad to have found Michale and Marva's Carriage House Studio on Home Away. I moved to OKC for a short term work assignment and the studio was just what I needed for a comfortable, effortless move, and a nice introduction to the city. The place was cozy, beautifully decorated and functional. The location of the studio is in the heart of Downtown and close to the most popular and trendy places in OKC. The neighborhood, Heritage Hills, is a quiet and walkable area. Michale and Marva are absolutely wonderful people. I am definitely going to contact them for my next stay in OKC. I highly recommend this studio!
