I have a nice bedroom in a cute and cozy Albany house. The bedroom is right across from the front door and has a door to the shared bathroom so it feels semi private. Comes with tv, internet, kitchen privileges, shared bathroom, laundry. There are usually two other people and a long term housemate. The house is mostly quiet and serene and makes a great retreat. Close to bart and a couple miles from the campus.

It's a bed to sleep in, but not comfortable and a bit weird
The title of this listing is not wrong - it is a cozy room in a cute Albany house. But I would not recommend staying here.
Mostly I was put off by the shared bathroom arrangement. The listing description does say it is a shared bathroom, and I have shared bathrooms with other travelers in the past, but in this context "shared bathroom" means the owner lives here and has his stuff everywhere (which kind of smells weird?) and although the surfaces themselves were all clean and probably sanitary, it just kind of felt like visiting an older uncle or something who hasn't really prepared to have company. I actually went over to someone else's house to shower the next day because I wasn't comfortable here.
Also, he keeps the thermostat very low - I was freezing all night long. I found the thermostat in the morning but by that point the damage had been done.
Finally, my only interaction with the property owner was an unpleasant one where I turned on the light in the kitchen (I had to wake up early the morning of my departure) and he grumpily told me to use a different light. It was a bright light and I am happy to accommodate other people but A) there was no other light and B) if that's an issue, the owner should really put a sign by the light switches and provide a clear alternative light source that won't bother him so much.
I was pretty put off by this stay - I really should have just slept on a futon at a friend's place or even a cheap motel room or something. I prefer to have a private bedroom when I travel but in this case it wasn't worth the added cost.
Most people are aware that this is a room that is being rented by the owner of the house and therefore there will be personal stuff in the bathroom. There are three people living in the house and so Its not a neutral space and I think thats pretty clearly stated in the description. The thermostat is turned off at night because I don't like warm air coming through the vents when I sleep but there are more quilts and blankets in the closet and perhaps i should have put an extra one out.
Also in 7 years of doing vacation rental nobody has ever tuned on the kitchen light early in the morning so i never thought of it as an issue but its definitely something to note for the next guest.
I cannot emphasize moire that if there is a question or a problem please contact me at your earliest convenience and I will try my best to make you happy. It is my intention that guests have a positive experience in my house.
Confetable stay and good environment
The room is clean and cozy. Onew is friendly. There are many restrants near this place. The safway is most convinent to buy food and daily comodity in reasonable price. A bus station of 18 line is very near and every 15 munites bus comes.
