Hemos pasado unos días estupendos en New York.
The flat is located in Astoria, Queens within an appartment block. The neighbourhood is very nice with many shops and restaurants nearby. Connection to the metro is close by and it lasts roughly 20 min to reach time square. That is is the good part of the flat. The flat itself is very basic. The equipment in the kitchen is pretty limited. To open a wine bottle we had to buy a bottle opener. Overall, the flat was not really clean, espcecially the kitchen was pretty sticky with grease on the stove. The furniture were in a bad spape - the chairs in the little dining room were really shaky. Two of them were not usable without risking to breakdown. The madtasses were directly placed on the metall-framed beds which made the sleeping pretty uncomfortable. Overall, this flat could be nice if the landlord would invest a little bit into this flat. The flat has WIFI, which worked well
I've expected more. A nice neighborhood and location. Is not so far from subway station.
The accommodation is old and isn't look like with the photos shown on website. The place wasn't so clean.
The worst issue are the mattresses, so deformed and uncomfortable.
David met us when we arrived in NYC and told us there was a broken pipe and therefore we were not able to stay at the 21-27 apartment, so this is a review for David's 21-06 unit which he did have available for us. The unit we stayed in was pretty spacious with beautiful hardwood floors, two adequate size bedrooms and closet space. It was, however, very, very basic and worn. Walls were pretty much bare and there was only one vinyl couch in the living room- no other place to sit except on the dining table chairs. Hot water varied from scalding to none (but this may be because it is a very old building, not an individual apartment issue.) I would rate cleanliness at about a 2.5. The toilet did not re-fill without extra handle jiggling. There was no where to hang a towel in the bathroom since the rack handle was broken off the wall. We needed to keep the windows open as a way to control the temperature in the apartment. Beds were okay for sleep but towels were very worn. The location was good. We were close to restaurants and shops and not far from the subway. It was inexpensive as a weekend rental but we would probably look for a different rental next time we are in NYC.
For a $60 cleaning fee my 92 year old mother could have done a better job. There were crumbs left on the stove. The front of the refrigerator had stains. The walls needed a serious coat of fresh paint. The lighting although bright enough is ugly. The bed mattress was like lying on 4 inches of hay. The one star is due to the fact that we never saw a cockroach. Other than that we had a great time in the city. Spend a few bucks more for a nicer place.
Thank you David.
We had a great stay. Nice flat, very nice neighborhood.
We hope we can stay there every year same time.
