2 bed, 1 bath cabin high in the mountains surrounded by nature and wildlife
This log-and-stone style cabin is located high in the Blue Ridge mountains at around 3,000 feet elevation. It is in the same area as the Shenandoah National Forest and this property borders the park land. You will not find a more private or mountainous cabin to stay at than this one. You will not see another human being for a half mile in any direction, but you'll see plenty of deer, bear and wildlife! Inside the cabin, you'll find spacious living areas, comfortable bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen and large HD televisions.
When you look up "remote getaway" in the dictionary, there's a picture of this cabin! :-) Come to rest, relax, have fun and take pleasure in nature's finest wonders. Leave business, nagging email and your hectic work schedule behind for something quiet, peaceful and relaxing!
We've recently worked on filling out the beautiful outdoor area beside the cabin with a large campfire pit, firewood (stacked and ready for you, look at pics) and hot tub. This yard area has beautiful views of nature.
This cabin is located "up Tanner's Ridge" as the locals say. In the pictures, you'll see two pictures showing the beautiful overlooks and mountains that you see as you drive to and from the cabin. You'll want to stop and get your own pictures on the drive.

**PLEASE NOTE for January - March bookings:** During these winter months, we strongly advise that a four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle is required. While there are plenty of dry weekends during those months where a regular vehicle would be fine, you cannot know that in advance. Please take this warning seriously for those months. The rest of the year, regular 2wd vehicles are fine.

AMAZING CABIN AND VIEWS
Very cozy cabin in the mountains, AMAZING views, very nice clean warm hottub for cold nights. Loved the gas fireplace in the cabin it was always warm inside. Will definitely have to come in the summer time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Thanks for the kind words, Christian!
Exellent pet-friendly cabin in the woods
Excellent cabin that is remote and private. It is definately off of the paved road...about ten minutes on a dirt/gravel road from where the pavement ends to the front door. I would not expect the road to be an issue for most vehicles most of the year, but if going in the winter months a truck/SUV would be ideal. All that travel is worth it though, if you are looking for a private location, in a well stocked cabin. Plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc. Take your groceries with you...there is no such thing a "quick trip" to the store. The fire pit is nice, and although I did not use it the hot tub seemed clean and working.
Just a couple of cons: It does have a park style grill, which is not bad, but could be better with a Webber style charcoal grill. I also had not considered trash disposal - the cabin is in the middle of the woods - you can pay an extra cash fee per bag for thier disposal or follow the directions to the county landfill station with the directions in the cabin.
Overall exellent cabin, and I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for an isolated getaway.
Great time in the mountains
After 30 years of people telling me how scenic Skyline Drive was in VA, I decided it was time to get it off my bucket list. I stayed at Paul & Emily's place for nights. My time was very peaceful when at the cabin. They had plenty to keep us occupied if needed and the neighbors were non-existent. Their were stink bugs to deal with but quickly learned how to do so by the next morning. The place was clean & well maintained. However, the first night, I had a minor issue with the hot tub and Paul had his crew there first thing in the morning to rectify the problem. it was great from that point on. He & Emily were very cordial and quick to reply to any questions or needs. Though he didn't have to, nor was I expecting it, he even gave me a nice deduction for having to deal with the problem.
I would definitely rent 1 of their 16 properties from them again.
Oh, by the way... I am a northern boy who is used to driving in more than 6" to over a foot of snow in a 2 wheel drive without issue. When I read about needing a 4 wheel drive, I discounted much of it due to the lack of experience for southern drivers. That is not the case here. The roads are very steep and WILL require much more traction when introducing snow & ice.
High Ridge Cabin
We really enjoyed our stay at the High Ridge cabin. The cabin itself, as well as all of the accommodations were just right for a weekend away. The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and all the tools needed to make meals (I made all of our meals there and wasn’t lacking in the tools needed-even has a blender and slow cooker). Plenty of towels, hair dryer etc...
Upon arrival the cabin was already warm and ready for us. Loved using the hot tub and looking up at the stars. If you bring kids, there’s a room with bunk beds and extra bed so that’s perfect. The management was quick to answer any questions I had during the stay and very helpful.
There were some stink bugs but it wasn’t really a problem and it’s in the woods so there’s bound to be bugs.
Main negative was the drive. They did encourage us to have four-wheel drive for a winter stay if the conditions were wet/icy. The road right up to the cabin is incredibly steep. The roads are well-maintained gravel (which is easier in wet conditions) so that was not a problem. Just know that it is very steep (we never went out after dark).
Wonderful secluded, peaceful cabin. The town nearby has a nice cafe that we ate at, used bookstore and cute theater so there’s stuff to do if you venture out. Had a great time!
Cabin in the woods
I had the pleasure of staying at this cozy cabin for a peaceful and relaxing getaway from the big city. This little hideaway was the perfect place to do just that. The elegent rental has a full kitchen, fireplace, hot shower, TV, internet, a plethora of DVD moves, and a hot tub! I posted pbotos on facebook and instagram and all my friends were envious. The town of Luray is nearby and offers several dining choices. One place we enjoyed was the Gathering Grounds. The town has a walking trail next the stream that runs through it. We are already making plans of a return trip.
James, thanks for the kind words. Hope to see you soon, and tell those envious friends to come too!! :-)
Great cabin, very remote with all that's needed to relax and enjoy nature. We will be back
Ron, thanks for the kind words. You were great to work with and we hope to see you again!
