About Alexandra/Stefan (Owner)

Brought up in the hotel and restaurant business and over 52 years of vacation rental experience we understand what our guests are looking for.

Why Alexandra/Stefan (Owner) chose Northwest Colorado

Because we care very much that our guests really have a wonderful time when they come to stay with us.The property is one of only 11 properties that is actually at river level. We think that our animals, the 62 ducks, frogs, daily visits from "Big Boy" the heron, the horse who thinks he is a dog and plays with a live bear (see youtube) and our dogs make it a fun place to stay as well.

What makes this apartment unique

On the 40 mile stretch of the Roaring Fork, this home is right on the river's edge. This is one of the few properties where the bike path and irrigation ditch are NOT between the home and the river.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is my third stay here. I come here to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, Hong Kong to be precise. I usually leave as fit as fiddle after my wonderful bike rides up and down the valley, the wonderful clean air and all round healthy life style. I sleep so well in that oh so comfortable bed. Listening to the River at night lulls me to sleep. My children come with me sometimes and discover something new each time I come. Can't wait to come back!

Beatiful property, great hosts

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful with plenty of space and everything we needed. Our dogs were able to run off-leash and they got to meet a horse! It was great to have the river nearby and the owners were very friendly.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. We were so comfortable in the bed, the heated blankets were a nice touch!!The patio table by the river was perfect to relax and be close to nature. We loved walking the trails, we fell in love with the bridge. Stefan and Alexandra were super sweet and we can't wait to come back!!

A peaceful place in too cold an environment. Maybe one of these days we can enjoy it on a 70 degree sunny day.

Peaceful and content

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at The Island and enjoyed every minute of it. We couldn't have asked for a better host and hostess then Stefan and Alexandra, not to mention Wahsabi and the pups! The home itself has everything you could possibly need, and if it doesn't, Alexandra will provide it. If we stayed in, there were 2 big screen TVs with Direct TV and very good internet service, plus the electric fireplace heaters in the living room and the bedroom. The bed and pillows were so comfy, it was hard to get out of bed in the morning. Fluffy white robes and slippers were also provided as well as plenty of hangers for your clothes. We have always stayed in Carbondale and walked most places we went. I thought that since we were off the beaten path on the river that it would be too far. Nope....even better....a few different routes into Carbondale proper and we enjoyed walking everywhere. Being on the river was a special treat....we spent a lot of time just sitting outside or walking the property. We ate at all of our favorites, Mings, White House Pizza, The Village Smithy.....Alexandra recommended Pan and Fork at River Valley Ranch and we had a delicious birthday dinner there. Besides all of our walking around Carbondale, we drove to Aspen Grottos, Snowmass and Maroon Bells and hiked there too. Over all I would say that it was one of our favorite experiences staying in Carbondale and plan on coming back again. You definitely will be pleased with your choice! It was truly a relaxing vacation.

Beautiful, tranquil, romantic

  • 5 of 5

This is a sweet spot on the Roaring Fork river...nostalgic for me because I was born here, but lovely for ANYONE to be able to listen to the running river from bed or hot tub. The house has every little comfort you could desire, is spotlessly clean, and tricked out with modern appliances. A troup of ducks and Wasabi the horse added charm. Our hostess was very welcoming, made sure we had our privacy while we were there, and went above and beyond to bring a forgotten article of clothing to us at breakfast the morning we checked out! Highly recommend AND would 100% go back.

On the River!!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay during Indian Summer weather - perfect!!

Alexandra and Stefan were great hosts and the property was clean and well maintained. We have a dog, so it was nice that he had some playmates while we stayed here - the horse being the best buddy :)

You had complete privacy at the property and yet you were less than 5 minutes from Carbondale Main Street.

There was a pedestrian bridge across the river just a stone's throw away ... so you could explore on both sides of the Roaring Fork.

The only slight issue we had was that we thought we would be staying in the house (exterior pics) that is portrayed in the picture album - instead, you stay in the bungalow that is next to the house. It's ok, because the bungalow was in top notch condition ... but we were just a tad bit disappointed. Overall, it was a great stay!!
