Sunny, cozy apartment

  • 5 of 5

We thorough enjoyed our stay at Becky and Kevin's apartment, which was sunny and cozy even though we were visiting during a cold snap. It was so nice of Becky and Kevin to let us stay with them while visiting nearby relatives at Christmastime. There was plenty of room for the four of us, the beds were comfortable, and it was wonderful to have nice, leisurely breakfasts in the kitchen.

2nd Time

  • 5 of 5

2nd time = two days longer and double the fun. Thank you Becky and Kevin for such an enjoyable stay. We really enjoyed ourselves and any problems were fixed right away. Who would have thought that batteries in the remote would work the TV? Certainly not us. Hee Hee but Kevin to the rescue. Was so nice to meet Kevin this trip.

Again thank you very much for opening your home to visitors such as us. The ability to help cook for Thanksgiving was definitely a treat, even though I had to read up on Convections Ovens. All went well and the side dish of corn soufflé and the dessert of Cranberry Apple Crisp were delicious.

I will keep you informed when I come back to the area. This house is literally down the road from my father's place along with the Botanical Gardens. Went to see the Christmas light show and enjoyed that as well.

I am wishing you a slightly late Merry Christmas and wishing all the health, happiness, peace and joy you can get for 2018.

Thanks Again. :) :)

Beautiful accommodations; great location

  • 5 of 5

The Poff Mahal is a beautiful apartment with a full kitchen, two bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, a beautiful porch, and a private entrance. It is very quiet, yet centrally located in Boothbay, Maine, making it easy to get to many areas along the coast. Highly recommend this apartment and all its amenities.

Very clean and modern. Nice amenities

  • 4 of 5

Convenient to town; good location.

A bit strange communicating with the owners who were responsive and cordial--but only communicated by text and a couple phone calls in the beginning.

We stayed 4 nights; it would have been nice to put faces to the owners. We never saw them despite a friendly overture by myself on the second morning. I mean they live in the attached house and use the garage beneath the rental...but they were like ninjas. (Maybe they've had guests who were overly needy in the past and now keep a wide berth...I don't know.. it was a tad disheartening as we are warm and respectful people...oh well)

I guess they are busy and private people. They never bothered us but still it was a bit odd; I'd liken it to checking into a hotel and never seeing the staff the entire time. I know it's not a bed and breakfast... but like I said...odd.

It is what it is. Not trying to be negative; just relaying our experience.

Beautiful house; nice decor. First class construction.

There was a house manual on how to use appliances, procedures.

Probably would give five stars if not for feeling like we rented from ghosts...

Alas. It is a beautiful property; this was our experience.

I DO recommend this rental unreservedly.

Owner's Response: Erik, Thank you for staying with us and for your unreserved recommendation! We appreciate that so much. We did try to catch you a couple times when we were home. We try hard to be quiet coming and going on weekdays as we head out for work and school. We also knew you had little ones with you and we didn't want to disturb their sleep with a knock on the door after bedtime. We love meeting our guests, but we also try very hard to respect their privacy and vacation time. I guess this time we just didn't make the connections we usually do. If you visit the area again please stay with us and we will make sure to meet you face to face. So glad you enjoyed your stay!

Tucked away, cozy charming apartment

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Poffman. It was private, neat, clean and very cozy. The apartment was everything we needed for us and our 2 year old son. Great porch area and backyard. Off the beaten path but still very close to lots of activities- not far from the Harbour, the Railway Village, various yummy lobster shacks and there is a terrific playground 2 minutes away. Quick jaunt to Botanical Gardens, which is a must see for any age- my husband and I thourghly enjoyed it and our son did not want to leave the kids area! Our stay was short and we wish we could've stayed at this cozy spot longer. When we come back to the area, we will want reserve again.

Wonderful place to explore the coast of Maine

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved staying at Becky and Kevin's place. It's a beautiful spot just a short trip from downtown Boothbay Harbor and the surrounding areas. Becky was quick to respond to questions and we will definitely consider this spot the next time we are in the area again. Don't hesitate to book as this is a terrific two bed, two bath home for a great price!

About Becky

Kevin and I have lived in the beautiful, Boothbay Region since 1993. We love it's quaint New England fishing village appeal as well as it's close knit community that welcomes thousands of visitors every summer. We are currently the caretakers of our parent's retirement home. Mom and Dad are currently living in Virginia Beach. When the time is right they will move here to be closer to family. We live in the bigger home in the front, mom and dad's house is behind us over the garage.

Becky purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Becky chose Boothbay

We love our quiet little neighborhood just yards from the coast. We can't see the water from our home, but a short walk or drive brings us all the beauty of coastal living. The height of this home will allow you to have a bird's eye view of the the tree tops. Watch birds and squirrels scamper about on the branches of our many oaks and maples.

What makes this apartment unique

The home is located on a dead-end ocean inlet. The ocean is a short distance away a 7 or 8 minute walk.

Downtown Boothbay Harbor is less than 5 miles away.

An Irving station and the big grocery store is located less than 3 miles.

Traffic is minimal. Within 2 miles there is a beautiful town playground.

Owl hoots, crickets and croaking frogs disturb the quiet of evenings and nights in our surrounding forest.

The Boothbay Region has been a destination for travelers for over a century. The unique character of our rocky seacoast makes it a pleasure to enjoy from both land and sea. The Boothbay Region is found at the end of a peninsula in the Midcoast area of Maine. It is a picturesque area with rich maritime heritage. The region boasts several festivals which celebrate this heritage. The architecture of the region reflects the charm of a New England fishing village with white, clapboard homes, specialty shops, galleries, boat yards and marinas. You won't want to miss our beautiful Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, amazing whale watches and harbor tours. If you love to golf you need to play a round or two on our state of the art greens at Boothbay Harbor Country Club.
