About the property

Log home on a ridgeline... facing Pikes Peak and surrounding ridges and valleys

Our high-altitude cabin (about 10,200 feet) is a log home atop a ridge with panoramic views of Pikes Peak and surrounding ridges and valleys. This spectacular view is enjoyed from the interior front wall of vaulted windows as well as from the wraparound deck. The setting is romantic. The property overlooks National Forest to the east (flanks of Pikes Peak) as well as buffer tracts for CC&V Gold Mine and private tracts. The decor is freshly updated with wood and slate floors, stainless steel appliances, lighting, an island with a wine cooler, and granite counters with romance in mind. The Living room is beamed with tongue and groove ceiling. Accommodations are for up to 6 people with a king bedroom and two queens. It has two bathrooms. A 5-person Hot Tub sits on the deck where the views can be enjoyed. Our Wood Stove will keep you toasty on those chilly Colorado nights. A large 60" HD satellite-fed television with BluRay DVD player, surround-sound system with Bluetooth receiver, and Free WIFI are available (please, no video-streaming such as Youtube or Netflix or Video phone calls). Another BluRay player is in the King bedroom for that TV (bring movies). We do have cards and various board games... a large fire pit for bonfires and skewers for making smores, cooking hot dogs, etc.

It is an easy 10 minute drive to Cripple Creek... a 25 minute drive to Divide's restaurants, etc., and a beautiful 50 minute drive to Manitou Springs and western Colorado Springs. The cabin is Dog-Friendly (additional fee required... dogs not permitted without paid fee) and has dog pen (we recommend it's use since coyotes are in the neighborhood). Damages will be billed. No other animals permitted.

There are hiking/riding trails surrounding the cabin... please stay on the trails... but be aware of wildlife such as coyotes, deer, elk, fox (no hunting is allowed) and local cows. The Crags trail along with Pancake Rocks, Dome Rock and Mueller State Park trail systems are all minutes away.

Winter Road Conditions: We live in a Winter Wonderland! The caveat of this is if daily excursions, touring and shopping are in your plans, it is mandatory that a 4x4 or AWD (with good tires/chains) be used to access the cabin with snow or melting snow/mud on the road due to the steepness. If you still want to book the cabin in winter months without AWD-4x4, please ask me. A neighbor is willing to help move the family up and down our ridge at cost... just ask.

Special Occasions Gift Baskets can be arranged upon request. Please let us know what the occasion is and we can provide specialty items for the occasion (i.e. honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, etc.). We would love to make this a memorable stay for your special celebration.

We are not Weed friendly as a recent guest broke our rules about smoking inside... thus, no weed is allowed, ever. Further cleaning charges and damage charges may be made if this is broken. And, no cigarette smoking in the cabin. An ashtray is outside. Please remove cigarette butts, etc. upon checkout. No one wants to see them dumped in our yard... as one guest did (names available upon request).

Please be accurate with your number of guests... as we purchase our water supply or manually deliver it for each guest group (the 3 wells here do not work). So please keep this in mind by taking short showers, not leaving the water running, and please do not do laundry.

Also, we have moved out check-out time to 10 am rather than 11 am because of the amount of work done. Thank you for understanding.

If you are going to be in the area and would like to visit the property prior to booking you are welcome to come by but please make an appointment I can show you around and to avoid disturbing any current guests. Also, I will need to get you directions (GPS units do not normally work navigating to the cabin).

We do not allow weddings or special events, parties, etc., here without our Event Contract. We do bookings for both events and lodging... so please contact us as we booking those typically months in advance:

Why Matt Turner chose Cripple Creek

I knew this was the place for which I had been looking when I saw the 'bow'... the front glass wall which is protrudes, is vaulted and beamed. Afterwards, I realized the property had somewhat of a view. Friends and I have been remodeling the property in steps since the purchase and still have several things to do.

What makes this cabin unique

One of our guests termed it a "Stunning" view. Spa (hot tub) overlooking the SW summit of Pikes Peak (7 miles away... you can see the Cog Train as it nears the summit), Almagre, Sheep, Sentinel Point, Trachyte, Cow mountain, adjoining ridges and neighborhood valleys. No other neighborhood cabins are in sight (only a few RV's, some with generators) though a neighbor has expressed the desire to build a nearby cabin (thus, we have removed most references to the Cabin and property as being extremely private, just in case they begin to built).

Our Guest Guide will be on the Island (unless moved). It is a blue binder. It is a requirement that guests agree to abide by the instructions therein to avoid damaging the cabin, fixtures and equipment. By booking, agreement to abide by these instructions are Accepted and Binding. We wish we did not have to state this but, otherwise, damages may occur and charges to your credit card and/or other remedies, including legal action, may be sought. Damages, missing items, etc., have happened and should be reimbursed by the Guest. Please supervise your family, children and teenagers. Check-in time is 4 pm... our new check-out time is 10 am, please. At 10,200+ feet in elevation (per Garmin GPS), the home looks up at the SW side of Pikes Peak summit. At certain times (not running in winter) one can see the Cog Railway as it summits the peak (from the right side of the ridge running to the upper left). The summit is roughly 7 miles away.

We loved our stay here! The views from the cabin were amazing. It was nice to be close to town but far enough away to feel like we were really on vacation.

Came from Iowa to celebrate 25 anniversary. 5 stars all the way. Extremely clean, beautiful decor and complete seclusion. Scenery words cant describe. Perfect view of Pike's Peek. Literally the peek! Just an fyi..elevation is extremely high. Be prepared. Heart pt here. Call to doc for meds. Once in me was way better. So just be prepared and maybe have something available before hand. Owner was helpful, friendly and prompt with communication. Takes pride in his home and it shows. Top notch everything! Well worth the money and would def recommend.

Enjoyed our stay & especially the fantastic mountain views! By far this house has the best views ever. Loved watching the hummingbirds & relaxing on the deck. Peace & quiet abound.

Beautiful view of the mountains. The sunrise was awesome. Place was clean and well equipped. It has three bedrooms with 2 queen and one king bed. Full kitchen with dishwasher.

Cripple Creek is a 10 min drive from the cabin. Cripple Creek is famous for it's Casino environment as well as several fine restaurants, a herd of donkeys wandering around and the huge CC&V Gold Mine. The cabin is not far from National Forest, State parks and preserves. We are roughly 1 hour from Colorado Springs Airport and about 2 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport.

We have changed our formal check-out time to 10 am, please... in spite what the website is showing (not editable).
For us as owners to avoid loss... and as part of our rental agreement... the guest understands and agrees that they will abide by the Guest Guide (blue binder) to avoid damages to the cabin, fixtures, equipment, etc. and not remove items of any sort. These will be charged to the guest. Please clean up any accidents, spills, or pet accidents, etc., as soon as possible. Of course we request that pets be kept off beds and furniture and please remove pet poo prior to checkout.

Also, the cabin is rather high in elevation.. above 10,000 feet. Please take precautions and check with your doctor prior to booking the cabin if you have respiratory issues such as COPD, asthma, heart-health issues, etc.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
