About the property

Log home on a ridgeline... facing Pikes Peak and surrounding ridges and valleys

Our high-altitude cabin (about 10,200 feet) is a log home atop a ridge with panoramic views of Pikes Peak and surrounding ridges and valleys. This spectacular view is enjoyed from the interior front wall of vaulted windows as well as from the wraparound deck. The setting is romantic. The property overlooks National Forest to the east (flanks of Pikes Peak) as well as buffer tracts for CC&V Gold Mine and private tracts. Ideal for honeymoons, as an artist-retreat or just a place to rest or recreate, the decor is freshly updated with wood and slate floors, stainless steel appliances, lighting, an island with a wine cooler, and granite counters with romance in mind. The Living room is beamed with tongue and groove ceiling. Accommodations are for up to 6 people with a king bedroom and two queens. It has two bathrooms. A 5-person Hot Tub sits on the deck where the views can be enjoyed. Our Wood Stove will keep you toasty on those chilly Colorado nights. A large 60" HD satellite-fed television with Blu-ray player, surround-sound system with Bluetooth receiver, and WIFI are available (please, no video-streaming such as Youtube or Netflix). It is an easy 10 minute drive to Cripple Creek... a 25 minute drive to Divide's restaurants, etc., and a beautiful 50 minute drive to Manitou Springs and western Colorado Springs. The cabin is Dog-Friendly and has dog pen (we recommend it's use since coyotes are in the neighborhood). Please, no cats.

There are hiking/riding trails surrounding the cabin... please stay on the trails... but be aware of wildlife such as coyotes, deer, elk, fox (no hunting is allowed) and local cows. The Crags trail along with Pancake Rocks, Dome Rock and Mueller State Park trail systems are all very close.

Winter Road Conditions: We live in a Winter Wonderland! The caveat is if daily excursions, touring and shopping are in your plans, it is highly recommended a 4x4 or AWD (with good tires/chains) be used to access the cabin with snow or melting snow/mud on the road. If you still want to book the cabin without AWD, please do - nearby transportation for up and down our ridge is available at cost... just ask.

Special Occasions Gift Baskets can be arranged upon request. Please let us know what the occasion is and we can provide specialty items for the occasion (i.e. honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, etc.). We would love to make this a memorable stay for your special celebration.

Contact me directly for pricing for weddings (we are a wedding venue), events, parties, corporate or group functions as these are managed under a different contract with varying fees.

And, please, no smoking in the cabin. Please remove cigarette butts, etc.

Please be accurate with your number of guests... as we purchase our water supply or manually deliver it (the 3 wells do not work) for each guest. So please keep this in mind by taking short showers, not leaving the water running, etc.

Also, we have moved out check-out time to 10 am rather than 11 am. Thank you for understanding.

If you are going to be in the area and would like to visit the property prior to booking you are welcome to come by but please make an appointment I can show you around and to avoid disturbing any current guests. Also, I will need to get you directions.

Let me know what questions you may have. God bless!

About Matt Turner

An Atlanta native, I moved to Colorado in 2012. I have been a real estate appraiser since 1987... with a tinkering in the remodeling business and ministry.

Matt Turner purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Matt Turner chose South Central Colorado

I knew this was the place for which I had been looking when I saw the 'bow'... the front glass wall which is protrudes, is vaulted and beamed. Afterwards, I realized the property had somewhat of a view. Friends and I have been remodeling the property in steps since the purchase and still have several things to do.

What makes this cabin unique

One of our guests termed it a "Stunning" view. Spa (hot tub) overlooking the SW summit of Pikes Peak (7 miles away... you can see the Cog Train as it nears the summit), Almagre, Sheep, Sentinel Point, Trachyte, Cow mountain, adjoining ridges and neighborhood valleys. No other neighborhood dwellings are in sight (only a few RV's).

Awesome house with an amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week. The house was perfect. Amazing view of a small valley and the mountain range beyond it.

Owner was very responsive to communications.

This was a perfect spot to stay for us. Whitewater rafting, zip line, Pike's peak, cave of the winds and Garden of the Gods were all easy drives from here.

Loved it.

This a fantastic property; close to town, but out of the way.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property and will absolutely stay here again. The views couldn't be beat. The main living area is phenomenal and the bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and well put together. The owner is easy to deal with. The enormous deck is so nice that one of our dogs didn't want to leave her spot in the sun, lol. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome stay!! Loved the views and sunrises.....

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as advertised and pictured. It was very clean and open. We loved the view and enjoyed watching the sunrise and seeing the winter birds come by and eat out of the feeder. How relaxing....went into the town of Cripple Creek to gamble had a lot of fun! I would highly recommend this place and would come back again! We had a fun time as it snowed and we were just missing a trip maybe in the fall!

Our family of 4 stayed here for a week and enjoyed every minute of our vacation. The house is beautiful and the setting is spectacular! The house is a convenient home base for many fun day trips.

The owner was very good to work with and very responsive to our needs during the week. We would recommend this rental without a doubt.

Spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

This is a well maintained, comfortable home with a breathtaking view. You can see for miles, whether you're inside the house, sitting on the deck, or in the hot tub. The gas stove is great, and the beds are comfortable. It's really close to great hiking and Cripple Creek gaming. We felt like we had a peaceful and relaxing getaway while hanging out on the deck since there are no other houses nearby. We would definitely come back to this rental!

At certain times (not running in winter) one can see the Cog Railway as it summits the peak (from the right side of the ridge running to the upper left). The summit is roughly 7 miles away.
