About Taz and Jay

We are private owners and have several condos at the Casa Del Mar. All the condos at the Casa Del Mar are privately owned. We prefer to take care of our own condos rather than let another company do it for us. We live nearby on the island if you need us for anything.

Why Taz and Jay chose Galveston Island

Our Lighthouse condo is one of several condos we have at the Casa Del Mar complex. The Casa Del Mar has 276 privately owned units. Casa Del Mar is located at the corner of 61st and Seawall Blvd right across the street from the Gulf of Mexico. Each condo has a great view of the Gulf of Mexico. This beach area is the sandy part of the beach and you can swim in the Gulf water.

Our Lighthouse condo offers a view of the Gulf of Mexico from your own private balcony patio and is near the front of the complex. Plus add the bonus of 2 sparkling pools. (One heated year round) and a picnic BBQ area if you want to grill dinner. Walking distance to several great restaurants too.

The condo was exactly as described in the write up. It contains nice accommodations for sleeping along with a nice kitchen for use during your stay. The property was very well maintained and clean for our arrival. The WII and games were nice to have for entertainment while preparing meals, waiting for all to get ready to leave for the days adventures or simply to enjoy and unwind. The location is perfectly situated right across the road from the beach/ocean and within walking distance of many stores and shops including reasonably priced groceries and other necessities. The parking pass at the condo saved a lot of headache and money in trying to find somewhere to park to 'go to the beach'. The beach was so closely located that you could find a place on the beach and members of our group could return to the condo to start meals, get food, or other items. In addition, there is quick access to the road to get to other locations along either Seawall boulevard, or going on out to the Ferry to go to Bolivar Peninsula for excursion of other beaches and areas (and we got to see dolphins on the ferry ride); or back to the main land for other activities. Had a few minor questions upon arrival and Taz and Jay were very kind in answering them and also provided links to me in advance for finding activities upon arrival. We are very pleased with our choice of condos to stay and will plan to use this location again and their service when we go elsewhere.

Nice and comfy Condo close to beach!

We wanted a quick and cheap get away weekend and this was perfect! The condo was on the smaller size (per my hubby's thoughts- I LOVED it!), but it was so comfy and home-like feel. My boys loved the bunk beds and the balcony! This preggo mommy loved the small rocking chair!! It was perfect location in town and a quick walk across the street to the beach. The pools were also fun!! It was very easy to reserve and keep in touch with owners. We didn't have any problems at all! We weren't smart enough to figure out how to work the Wii, but there was one there! :) Loved that trash was easy to take right out to the hall when it was full as well. They have a nice selection of dishes to cook and eat with, which was nice as well. We will definitely be back to visit!

We had a great time!

The condo was a little tight for 6 people and the kitchen was VERY small. The hot tub wasn’t heated so that was disappointing but overall we loved the condo and the location. I would recommend it to a family of 2-4. thanks for having us.

Cute beachfront condo in bustling area

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the lighthouse condo. It is just across a busy street from the beach and so you can easily walk over, and parking at the condo is usually no trouble. It is also close to all the tourist spots like the the pleasure pier and lots of restaurants and such. We were there for a conference that happened to be scheduled the same weekend as a massive biker rally (no offense bikers!) and so the noise from the streets and parking lot never ended and was unbelievably loud at all hours (also most shops in the historic area simply closed for the weekend, which was unfortunate). I think on a normal weekend, you'd probably still hear street noise through the balcony doors--this is in a close-to-the-action, busy area, not a quiet beach area. The view out the balcony is mostly of an Exxon and a McDonald's, but you can see the water from the corner of the balcony. There was alot of construction on the condos during our stay so one pool was closed, but they had heated the other and it was very nice, but is also a bit close to the parking lot. The condo itself is small but well kept with lighthouse-themed decor throughout, which is charming, and the owners have clearly worked hard at updating with wood-look tile, etc. to keep it looking fresh. They have also organized well to fit all the essentials into a small space. The condo was cleaned before our arrival with linens provided and beds made, but was probably in need of an end-of-season refresh (tub resurfacing) and deep clean (would not have passed my grandmother's white glove test on baseboards, blinds, doorframes). In the master bedroom, only one side of the bed is accessible; the other side is up against the wall, so that person has to crawl over the other, or out the end if wanting to get up at night. Also the very bright light from the condo's hallway shines in to the bedroom all night, despite 3 layers of blinds/curtains, so its not a dark room to sleep in. The key code to lock the door is convenient when you are out, but there is no deadbolt to lock at night when you are in, which I would have liked. As others have mentioned, the trash is indeed conveniently located in the condo hallway--but this means the condo hallway always smells like trash. Still, I'd recommend the condo overall as a great deal that has all the necessities if you're looking for a place right at the beach and want to be in a busy, bustling area, close to all the action.

Location was the best.

Our stay was just great. Everything was very comfortable. The staff at the front desk was very helpful. Also Taz was great about helping with the lock on the door.
