Our primary residence is in NYC. We are a family with 3 generations of musicians and sports enthusiasts. For this reason, the Berkshires has been a perfect place to make our second home. With both the quiet to create, and proximity to the surrounding towns overflowing with music, theater, dance and art, it has given us everything we dreamed of.
Liz purchased this House in 1979
Why Liz chose Blandford
This beautiful home has provided a wonderful, pastoral retreat. We cherish the fruit trees and the garden, the quiet and the country life, while luxuriating in the many comforts our home has to offer.
What makes this House unique
We are make our home available and hope to share this special place with folks who are looking for some magic. This is not a sterile vacation rental. This is a home that has it's own story to tell. For musicians, amateur and professional - the home includes a Mason Hamlin baby grand piano.

Returning traveler for a reason
We started with a trip during the winter to visit a friend. We had such a great time we had to try during the summer. Perfect secluded spot for a fire in the winter and perfect yet again for poolside seclusion for the summer. Great spots for dining in local towns and great scenery in Western Mass. This house sits on a huge piece of property next to a golf course that is perfect for an activity with your buddies or family. Liz has always been super friendly and accommodating for us. She knew we were arriving late when everything would be closed and had us a few breakfast items to hold us over in the morning. I imaging the fall when the leaves are changing would really be a site to see. Guess I’ll start planing my next trip!
Thanks Chris and co. You're great guests and welcome anytime!
(Fall is indeed beautiful in the Berkshires)
Wonderful 4 days - very family friendly
Liz is a fabulous and generous host; she went above and beyond to accommodate our last minute scheduling problem that almost messed up our three generation family gathering . She also encouraged us to use whatever food was in the kitchen - and there was lots of it. The house is set on beautiful grounds with lots of open space and tall trees in the front and on the sides. The day temperature was 90 and above so we and the grand kids spent most of the time in the pool, which is totally private, enclosed on two sides by 25 foot hedges. The house reflects many years of family living with lots and lots of stuff (toys; piano and drum set; balls, bats, frisbees, etc.; books and dvds; multiple sets in the kitchen of dishes, spices, etc.), as well as the wear of age and use.
Thanks so much to the whole Meier clan!
Great space with a terrific pool!
The house is very comfortable, sleeps a lot of guests, and has a wonderful yard and pool. The fireplace is also a real treat on cool nights and there was plenty of firewood. There's a musical vibe to the space with a functional drum set and nice piano in a large communal space / living room. Liz is a pleasure to work with and I would definitely go back for another stay.
Thanks Andrew. You and your friends were awesome guests. We'd welcome you back anytime!
Beautiful interior with plenty of land and amazing pool.
I had a great time in this home along with some family and friends. Very comfortable and cozy rooms along with a relaxing living room with a fireplace. Pool was great for everyone and we were able to play a lot of sports and games.
A Retreat That's a Real Treat
Whether you're a couple who's seeking a serene getaway or a family in need of a perfectly laid-out vacation home, this is the house for you. Extremely well-appointed, you'll find no shortage of activities -- swimming in the pristine pool or relaxing with a good book or playing the piano or firing up the bbq grill. The owner provides a helpful email prior to arrival, containing suggestions for local fare, and there's an equally useful binder to read on the kitchen table as well. Beds are comfortable, towels are fluffy, location is wonderfully peaceful. A+.
We enjoyed our stay. Liz made us feel welcome and all was set up when we arrived. Pool was beautiful. We especially enjoyed the secret garden area (we thought it was adorable), the blackberries that were growing, and all the lawn space to play bocce and cornhole. Some of the group went golfing to The Ranch (15-20 min) and said it was a great course. The house did have a musty smell, but we got used to it. I paid for the cleaning fee, but I noticed spider webs in the living/dining area. The kitchenware (bowls, pans) were kind of old, so I didn't feel comfortable using them. Those are the only reasons for not giving 5 stars, otherwise we had an amazing relaxing weekend.
Blandford is surrounded by great cultural destinations. To the west we have music at Tanglewood, dance at Jacobs Pillow, and the fabulous theaters in Stockbridge and Williamstown. An hour to the north is Mass MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) with it's extraordinary exhibits and concerts. To the east is the Pioneer Valley with the charming and funky towns of Northampton and Amherst. Fine dining or down home cooking is all around. OR - you can sit quietly by the pool at our beautiful home and listen to the birds.
