Set on a lush hilltop in the foothills outside Lucca, Casa Luciana is one of the most family-friendly villas in the area. Its expansive outdoor spaces have plenty of room for dining and lounging, plus a fenced-in pool. If youre coming during the low season and your party is small, you can rent out part of the house.
Though Casa Luciana is traditional on the outside, its equipped for fun and relaxation. The outdoor wood oven and grill are next to a covered veranda with outdoor dining area, and plenty of lounge chairs surround the inground pool. Stone patios are lush with flowering potted plants, and theres a ping-pong table in a shady corner of the manicured garden. Inside, give yourself the spa treatment in the sauna and steam bath.
The villas interiors are bright and open, with white walls and brick accents set off by cheerful printed fabrics and wood paneling. In the living room, settle into a plump striped armchair around the fireplace. The cozy dining area features a banquette, and the kitchen has a dishwasher to make cleanup a snap.
Rest assured: each of Casa Lucianas six bedrooms has air conditioning. There are four bedrooms with double beds, and two bedrooms with two twin beds each. The bedrooms all have shared bathrooms (but dont worry, there are five in the house), and high ceilings and pretty painted furniture make each bedroom airy and lovely.
The villa is just minutes away from the village of Lappato, which is about 10 miles northeast of the city of Lucca and its architectural charms. Bring your beach towel, as the resorts of Versilia are about 25 miles away. Take a drive to Pisa or Florence, or, if youre looking for something off the beaten path, ask the villas owners for a suggestion.

SWIMMING POOLS - Swimming pools are not open all year. If your rental period is outside the period May 30th to October 3rd, please check with us that the pool can be opened. Swimming pools are not enclosed with fences and there are no lifeguards. Clients use of the swimming pool is at their own risk.
HEATING - Heating is available at an additional charge of 50 Euro per day and must be paid directly on the spot to the owner or his/her representative before departing. Please note that heating in Italy, when not subject to restrictions by the local Government, is more expensive compared to other countries. If you look for a property in low season, make sure to ask for an estimate of the heating cost. You may be asked a supplementary deposit for heating expenses.
WATER AND ELECTRICITY - Please note that most of the properties that we offer are not the typical purpose-built Mediterranean holiday villas. Most are converted farmhouses or former manor houses, full of character and history. Water shortages do occur; please use it sparingly during the summer months. At the same time, Italy is probably one of the few countries in the world where the government has introduced a system of electricity limitators to contain the national consumption. This means you must be careful when using more than one appliance at once because the limitator will shut the electricity off.
INTERNET CONNECTION - Many of our properties have an internet connection. From our experience, when a connection is interrupted due to technical reasons beyond our control, it is unfortunately very difficult, despite our efforts, to receive immediate assistance from some of the internet providers operating in Italy. We therefore strongly suggest that those who need to access their emails should bring their own BlackBerry, or a similar portable device. Please note that in any case we cannot accept responsibility for lack of these services.
LOW SLUNG CARS - VANS MINIBUSES - Most of our houses are located in the countryside. Some of them can be accessed only by unsealed roads and driveways. We therefore advise people intending to take a sports or low-slung car on holiday, to check with us first whether the access to the property allows for such a car. We advise against the use of vans and minibuses. Please always check with us, at the time of booking, if you are planning to use this type of vehicle when staying at one of our properties.

This was one week of two we spent in Italy. The location, amenities, and service were perfect for 2 families (9 people total)
I have absolutely nothing negative to say. My friends/family and I loved the villa and enjoyed everything about it. Location to lovely towns in Tuscany was perfect, the owner was delightful and very helpful and all of us had a really great holiday. The owner is a bit of a "techie" with all sorts of audio equipment, remote controls for stuff, etc., some of which was hard to figure out. However, the owner showed up every other day or so to clean the swimming pool and was ablel to answer any questions we had about stuff. All in all, a great place which I would highly recommend to friends.
The villa itself is great. The gardens, swimming pool and al fresco dining make you want to spend all the time outside. Inside it has all the amenities, and rooms are clean and spacious. It is very convinient location: close to Lucca, Viarregio and Florence, and at the same time the area is very quiet and there are a lot of small hill towns thatare perfect for a quick visit or dinner. Local wines produced at the villa are excellent.
