Unique house in a unique place

  • 5 of 5

Our family (including two kids, 14 and 11) enjoyed our first time at Seabrook Island. We had perfect April weather (sunny mid-70s, no humidity). and divided our time between the beach, pool, and visits to Charleston.

The house was very comfortable, with a modern kitchen, and countless decks and views. Being from the city, we liked stargazing from the roof deck, or just relaxing on the hammock on the screened-in porch.

Biking around Seabrook is an amazing experience - flat, smooth roads, relatively few cars (and slow-moving at that), and bikers everywhere. It's the best way to see and get around. Also recommend going on a kayak tour in/around Seabrook, and a historical walking tour of Charleston.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home is very well decorated with panoramic views of the golf course and marsh. The location is great---you can easily bike or walk to the beach! All rooms are spacious and everything is updated--The private location of the home allows for relaxation and privacy. Glenn is terrific to work with and the welcome bottle of wine was greatly appreciated! A spectacular, lovely vacation home!

Family Vacation

Family Vacation

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

WOW! Where to start. We get to go on a family vacation about every 4-6 years. This year we were celebrating our daughter's high school graduation and our son's college graduation. We have always stayed at hotels or state parks so this was our very first experience renting a home and I was very nervous. Everything went smoothly from making the reservation to payment to arrival to check out. As mentioned in previous reviews the home is VERY well stocked with paper products, toiletries, beach towels, laundry supplies, extra linens. A lovely note and bottle of wine welcomed us. It was fun to watch the kids (18 and 22) run through the house checking it out and picking their rooms. I'm going to miss the shower in the master bedroom and the view! My husband said the house was so big he felt as if he needed a key card every time he left the bedroom.

We visited Seabrook 7/2-7/9 so we were there for Independence day celebrations. Getting through the security gate was slow because a lot of families were arriving. Security did route us over to the office where we could get our parking pass and amenity cards. For some reason the office was confused about our amenity cards. Glenn was very quick to respond and clear up the confusion. Harris Teeter is the grocery store in Fresh Fields Village which is not far but was packed as if they were expecting a hurricane. We did find a Food Lion 10 ish miles away which was extremely clean, economical, wide aisles and NOT packed. Seabrook puts on an impressive fireworks display. There was live music, food and cash bar set up on the driving range. Very family friendly atmosphere, plenty of elbow room and a spectacular view of the fireworks. All the pictures showed the beach deserted. I thought they moved the people out of the way to get those photos. Even with so many families there for the holiday weekend you still had 50-100 yards between you and the next person. After the weekend it cleared out and was like having your own private beach. I will miss ending my day watching the sun set and starting it with the sunrise over the ocean. We rented bikes from Seaside Cycles without issue. The bikes were there when we arrived and were well serviced. Don't ride after dark. No lights on bikes. We did not see any mosquitoes on Seabrook. Very large spider, who we named Regina, was in the tree outside the house. She kept her distance and so did we ;) Would stay in this home and at Seabrook again!!

Beautiful, spacious home with great updates

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. We absolutely loved the views, and appreciated all the extra "touches" that Glenn made (bottle of wine and welcome note, plenty of board games, extra toddler toys for our daughter to play with, bikes, beach cart, chairs etc). You can tell that Glenn has put a LOT of hard work and effort into updating this house and making it immaculate. The only "downside" was that, I think because its an older homer and situated within a lot of trees, we did experience a bit of a "critter" problem (mostly ants, and one bat in the interior hallway from the cart port to the laundry room). Again, this might be hard to avoid given the house's natural setting. Overall, we would happily stay here again.

Owner's Response: I'm from Columbus as well, and while I've never had ants in my home in Ohio, they do periodically show up at different times on the island, which is why everyone's homes, including mine, are sprayed quarterly for ants, spiders, etc. If necessary additional treatments from the exterminator can be provided on very short notice if I'm alerted to a need, although this only occurred once during the 6 years I've owned the home. I don't know if these ants were tempted by crumbs, but they do show up quickly at times when food is left out, but even then spray and traps are available under the kitchen sink to resolve that if it occurs. The bat is something new, and to be clear was not in the house, but in a stairway under the home. I'll see if he's there next week and if so will try to encourage him/her to sleep elsewhere .
