I am a fashion designer with my own label and lines, designing for luxury boutiques and catalogs. I am a workaholic and I travel extensively for my work. I am also a single mom and spend as much time as possible with my son who is my life. I love living in Topanga/Malibu in the mountains with the ocean so close by. There is a very creative energy at the house and all my new work is created there. I get inspired by the colors of nature and the incredible sunsets.
I hope that you get the peace, quiet and the healing from my special piece of the mountain.
Azmina Kanji purchased this house in 1986
This particular area of Topanga has always attracted me. Before I even bought the house, I used to come with my dog and sit on the elephant rock on the property. The property was never put on the market. I approached the owner who had it built for himself and after a few months, he decided to sell the property directly to me without going through any realtor. The property was bought as is.
The energy around the property, the views, the mountains and all the wild life is enough to sustain me forever.
My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights, two of which we were joined by my parents, my sister and brother in law. The property is absolutely incredible and has tons of history. The view is breathtaking, and pictures don't even come close to doing it justice. The deck is HUGE with lush plants and tons of great patio furniture to relax and take in the view. There is a big, new gas grill on the deck, and there simply isn't a better place than the Saddle Peak Buddha house to grill up some steaks / fish with a glass of wine or beer at sunset. The interior of the house feels big given the high ceilings, and it has lots of relaxing decor with the Buddha theme running throughout the house. There are 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, which held the 6 of us very comfortably. There is a giant, flat screen, HD tv in the living room and fast wireless internet throughout the property. My AT&T cell phone had 4/5 bars of service everywhere on the property. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a great meal, and we loved the goodies (fruit, bread, chocolate, etc.) that Azmina left for us upon arrival. I had one quick question during my stay, and Azmina was available via text/ phone call to answer my question within a moment's notice (and of course the answer was clearly in the guest binder, which I admittedly should have read thru). Groceries are 15-20 minutes away, and endless miles of trails are within minutes of the house. We treasured the time that we got to spend here, and can't wait to return again in the future. Thanks for having us, Azmina!
Wow! Amazing views from this property and better than the photos show. Great to watch the weather and see the fog roll in or dissipate on the mountains. On the many clear days we had, you could even see the surf of the ocean from the deck. The property has some history to it and is located in an area with exclusive homes. I can honestly say that looking over the mountains, rock formations, and seeing the beauty of the area, it was the best medicine for relaxation. The pool also helped! We were a family of five with teenagers and were comfortably housed. Azmina was there to greet us on arrival and had stocked the fridge with essentials for breakfast and fruits locally sourced. A manager is available at a next-door property below. Had no issues and loved it so much we would love to return if we visit the area again.
We had a wonderful stay here. Azmina and her son were very welcoming and hospitable and made us a beautiful lunch when we arrived unexpectedly early! We spent many hours on the fabulous, spacious deck and pool area. Views are magnificent, setting is tranquil. We were very happy with our time at this property.
There is no public transit in Topanga/Malibu area so you will need a car. Of course, there is a choice of Uber or a local taxi service.
Hiking trails and endless views are all within walking distance of the property. Scenic bike rides and drives are unavoidable in our neighborhood.
Driving distances are as follows:
The Beach: 10 Minutes
Topanga City Center: 10 Minutes

There are six parking spaces at the house and a lot of parking spaces up and down the street. The area is too secluded to worry about parking tickets!
Topanga is known as a bohemian enclave attracting artists, musicians, filmmakers, and others.
