|Minimum Stay||2 - 5 nights|
Whether you are looking for a Vacation Cabin to unwind at the end of an active day outdoors, or you just want Peaceful Privacy and Relaxation, "Paddlers Retreat" is ideally located between Bryson City, the Tsali, and the N.O.C!
Inside the cabin you will find a well appointed kitchen with everything you require to prepare and serve your meals. The open and spacious living room will easily seat a group of 8, as will the large dining room table.
In the Living Room, the Stone fireplace is the focal point!
For your entertainment, there are 3 flat screen TV's with satellite channels included. In the living room, there is a DVD player, assorted board and card games, and in 2016 we added a Wii Game System.
The split floor plan does offer abundant privacy between the two bedrooms! On one side of the cabin, there is the Master Bedroom with King size bed (luxury linens and bedding are provided) and a private en suite bathroom. On the opposite side of the cabin, you will enjoy a "Jr. Master Suite" with a second King size bed (luxury linens are provided) and an adjoining full bathroom. Each bedroom offers a 32" flat screen television with an extensive selection of Channels to choose from (bedroom televisions were added in November 2016).
The covered back deck offers several rocking chairs to relax and gather around the Fire Pit, enjoy a soak in the Sparkling hot tub, and Enjoy the ever changing beauty of the Smoky Mountains!
Outside: There is a large flat yard, and several hiking trails to explore! (There is a hand drawn map of the trails in the Welcome Book). One of the trails will lead you to a babbling and noisy Creek where along side hangs a hammock under a canopy of shade trees. For the more adventurous hikers, there are trails all the way to Lake Fontana and within 2 miles of the Appalachian Trail!
Getting to the Cabin: Access to this private retreat is easy. Paddlers Retreat is located just over a mile from the main highway which is far enough to enjoy Peace and Quiet without "road noise" (it is so quiet, you could hear a pin drop). The road is not narrow or steep, and you do not feel as though you are "climbing the Mountain". Close enough to easily arrive at all the area activities quickly and without excess time in your car.
Ideally located between the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the Tsali Recreation and Mountain Biking Park, and Bryson City is less than 15 minutes away!
This property is located in a "Wild Life Haven"! Watching the cows graze in the neighboring pasture and the Mountain Ranges beyond is quite relaxing. It is not uncommon to see Wild Turkey, Deer, and many Bird species! The Appalachian Trail is within 2 miles, and there are a few hiking trails right on the property!
2/2 Cabin w/ Luxury Amenities and Rustic Designer Appointments through out. 5 minutes from the N.O.C., and Recently Renovated! We would love to hear from you, Call or Email us and ask about "Paddlers Retreat". ***Online Booking Available 24/7***
Hello Future Guests!
This cabin has been renovated and updated over the winter, and is just now ready for reservations! We expect glowing future reviews, but I did want you to know why there are not any reviews presently.
Thank You, Kathleen - Property Manager
The property was very clean. The only downside was the water pressure. Nice and secluded but close to Bryson City. The price was very affordable and the property manager Kathleen was very helpful and friendly.
It was very peaceful and secluded but not that far from Bryson City.
We really enjoyed out stay at the Paddler's Retreat. It was perfect for our family of 5 to have enough space without being on top of each other. The porch with a beautiful mountain view was wonderful to utlilize in the early morning with coffee and in the evening to relax afer a busy day of touring the area. My girls were able to hang their hammocks on the porch posts to relax and read a book. We very much enjoyed the more quiet area of Bryson City and touring the Blue Ridge Parkway. It has been almost 2 months since our stay and I miss it so much. I would definitely recommend staying at Paddler's Retreat if you enjoy peace, quiet and relaxation. We stayed by Gattlinburg a couple of years ago to tour the Smoky Mountains which had been a wonderful time, but we really enjoed staying in this area as it was less touristy.
The only thing that I could say would make this location better was that the kitchen was low on a couple of items that I needed for a larger family. I could have used a griddle or larger frying pan for making items, plus a cookie sheet. Nothing large enough to make pancakes on or cook on for a larger amount. We did a lot of cooking while staying here which saved us money from eating out all the time.
Thank you for offering this location as we made many great memories on our vacation. This place added to the enjoyment and experience of it all!
We had to be out of our house due to some construction work, so we packed up all of us (2 adults, 2 children, 1 dog, 1 cat) and headed to the Paddler's Retreat. It was the perfect place for us to hang for a couple days. The hot tub was relaxing, the house immaculate, the yard perfect for our dog. We loved everything about it and would definitely recommend it :)
My husband and I and our two Dogs, Lita and Charlie truly enjoyed Angels Overlook over Labor Day weekend! We were not sure what to expect regarding the location ,so we stopped for a little groceries prior to arrival, that was a great decision because once we arrived at the Cabin we did not want to leave.! We lacked for nothing and were overjoyed with the serenity and beauty of this property. It took our dogs a little longer to feel at home, but after a long hike straight up the hill past our cabin (angels overlook is at the top of this hill) and a few naps on the country porch they thought they owned the place. We loved the extra living space of the screened porch, just off the living room, it made for nightly symphonies of crickets and frogs (instead of cars and sirens). The hot tub on the ground level hidden behind the house provided privacy and convienence bc could be accessed through the house, basement area (where the pool table is). I would highly recommend this Cabin especially for romantic getaway or even a couples retreat. The only negative thing I can say is the road leading up to the house is narrow and steep in some places, but we did not need 4wd , and after a few times in and out, I got used to it. It is fairly close to Bryson City shopping, 2-3 miles once you are down the driveway. It was around 20-22 minutes to get to Harrah's. We plan to return to Angels Overlook with a couple of friends in the spring or summer, cant wait!!
We loved this cabin! We had two young families staying here and it was perfect! Each family had their own large bedroom and bathroom and the common space had plenty of seating and a large table where we could all sit and eat together. The back porch had a great fire pit (wish we'd had time to use it) , a nice hot tub, picnic table, rockers and a great view! This was such a treasure to find! We were only about 20 minutes away from the train depot where we took the Polar Express-- the downtown area of Bryson City is so quaint and wonderful! Nearby the cabin was the River's End Restaurant which had great food (even vegan options for our vegan/vegetarian family) and sat on the river- just beautiful! We can't wait to go back!!
"Paddlers Retreat" Cabin is just a couple of minutes from the N.O.C. (Nantahala Outdoor Center) with whitewater rafting, kayaking, rope course, zip lines, biking trails, Restaurants, outfitter store, and more... Equally as close is the Tsali Recreational Area which is on Lake Fontana and offers world class Mountain Biking trails! Just 10-15 minutes away (a very scenic drive) is Bryson City with walk-able shopping, groceries, the scenic train excursions, and more...
From the cabin, there are trails to hike! There are several easier hiking choices, but for more adventurous Guests, you can hike to the Lake from here!
