Impeccably clean, well appointed, and as described on VRBO. We wanted a quiet spot, close to a beach, but still close to other activities the Cape offers. We biked, used the provided kayaks, strolled the beach, grilled seafood in the quiet backyard, and enjoyed the fire pit. Easy car trip access to the rest of the Cape - shops, parks, restaurants, etc. Perfect for a relaxing getaway.
The cottage was as we expected from the accurate description and photos. Jeff the owner was very helpful answering my questions before the trip and we had a great stay. For two of us it was perfect. The bedrooms are very small with just enough room for beds, a chest of drawers and hanging space. But, as another reviewer said, we just slept in one room and used the other for our clothes, so it worked well. It would be fine for two adults and one or two young children but a bit cramped for four adults.
The living/dining/kitchen is lovely and we were able to prepare and eat meals with the equipment provided. The bathroom is a good size and well lit and there are new washing and tumble drying machines in the front porch area.
The TV is large and receives cable channels - it was a bonus to have a decent radio so we could listen to NPR!
Jeff supplied sheets and towels which was very helpful as we were visiting from the UK - many cottages we looked at specifically exclude that which makes life difficult for overseas visitors.
The cottage is in a wonderful location a few minutes walk from the shore at Paines Creek. We really did not want to leave. Brewster is charming and peaceful, though you do have to drive everywhere, which is hard for city dwellers like us to get used to - we like to walk! There are several good restaurants and coffee shops in the Brewster area but the nearest decent grocery store is in Yarmouth or Orleans. There are loads of places to explore and we enjoyed hiring bikes and going to Chatham on the old rail path.
We would recommend this cottage and would love to return ourselves.
Delightful and serene cape cottage in beautiful natural setting with large private backyard, outdoor shower, grill area and 5 minute walk to bay beach and tidal creek. Cottage is light, airy, and beautifully decorated while remaining cozy and comfortable. Owners have been thoughtful in providing all necessary ingredients for a carefree and enjoyable stay. Two small bedrooms and a porch "bed" provide space for 2-4 people comfortably without feeling crowded as the cottage is more on the cozy side. The bathroom is large and newly decorated as is the living/kitchen/dining area with peaked roof and skylights. A definite 4 stars and will look forward to a return stay next summer.
This cottage is very well supplied and is within walking distance of the beach for early morning and sunset walks at low tide. The use of one of the kayaks is an extra bonus for use at high tide. We would go back again and again!
We had a fantastic stay at this quaint cottage. This was our first time staying in Brewster and we loved it. You can't beat the location and the cottage had everything we needed. It's only a short walk to Paines Creek Beach which was great for the kids and we also enjoyed returning in the evenings to watch the sunset. We also walked to Kate's Seafood for ice cream, Drummer Boy Park and Cape Cod Natural History Museum. The cottage itself was adorable. It was nicely decorated and very clean. It had all the amenities we needed plus more. The back yard is so quaint, fully fenced in and very private. They even had a fire pit which was great for chilly evenings and making s'mores with our boys. The cottage also came with access to kayaks which were right on the beach. The owners really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We highly recommend this cottage! We're looking forward to returning next year!
It's a beautiful spot! They do have the prettiest yard. I sat and drank coffee out there one morning and saw so many colorful birds enjoying the flowering shrubs. The bedrooms are small but there is ample dresser and shelf space to store your luggage. There is no heat so we wondered if we'd be warm enough mid-May; it was getting down to 50* at night during our stay. We were relieved to find that the 2 space heaters kept us cozy. (The listing pictures a wood stove but that is not there anymore.) Here are some of the things they have (as of May 2016): Two kayaks (can seat 2 people in one of them), four life jackets, size: youth 50-90 lbs; adult small; adult sm/med; adult XXL; a boogie board, two little nets for chasing butterflies or minnows (the kids loved these), a long handled shovel and a little plastic one (sand toys), 4 or 5 beach chairs, a kids puzzle and a kids bingo game, Boggle, Mancala, some puzzles and books for grown people. There was one or 2 (little) kids books too. No condiments in the fridge. Lots of pillows, bath and kitchen towels provided. The owners were responsive and friendly. You have to pay to park at the beach. I didn't know that so I'm glad we rented this cottage. We hauled beach chairs and toys, snacks and water (and 2 kids) and found that we never needed the car. (One could take a car to drop things off and then walk back.) These are all details I looked for when searching VRBOs so hopefully it helps you as you plan your vacation!
