About the property

The Black Hills are known for their legacy in gold rush history, but as the rush ended many people found it hard to leave this pristine natural area and the friendly communities in the towns. Today, Lead attracts people from around the world who seek solitude and recreation in this unique ecological region. Here you'll find rolling hills studded with pines, deep canyons with cobalt streams cascading through, and several species of wildlife. Given this area's abundance of things to do, this cabin will enable you and your family or friends to access all that the Black Hills have to offer.

This massive cabin features a 3/4 wrap around deck that provides multiple views of the dense pine forest. You'll see an occasional white-tailed deer, hear an elk bugle, or feel the soothing hush of a breeze coming through the forest. Inside you'll be greeted with a generous amount of space and a flush of natural light throughout the day. The leather and wood furniture provide rich, earthy hues that really bring the rustic-meets-nature experience full-circle.

Though the decor may take you back in time, the cabin's modern and sleek appliances provide the comfort and luxury of the 21st century. You'll enjoy three flat screen TVs and cable access, and with the surround sound on the lower level you'll have a genuine theatre experience. In the fully-loaded kitchen you'll appreciate making meals on the ample counter space and with the high-tech oven and range. Even if you're not the one making meals, you can still indulge in snacks and drinks at the central bar area.

Though this cabin may indeed have it all, you will also have access to a clubhouse with a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, game rooms, WiFi, and many other amenities.

As promised before, this cabin situates you in the heart of the Black Hills' most talked about and sought after recreational areas. From downhill skiing and mountain biking at Terry Peak Ski Area, to snowmobiling, ATV riding, hiking, cross-country skiing and so many other activities just moments from this home's front door.

Staying here will truly give you an experience that you'll never forget.

We loved the Ore Car! The outdoor fireplace was our favorite spot! We spent every evening outside roasting marshmallows & visiting. The entire place was excellent. Beds are very comfortable & the kitchen is well stocked. It was very clean & well maintained. The pool was enjoyed very much by the kids. Thank you to the owners for sharing this slice of paradise with our family.

Great family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Ore Car in July '17 for a multi-family reunion/vacation and could not have been any happier with the house. The house was large and could have easily accommodated more than our party of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids). The rustic-style interior is immaculate: concrete counter tops, slate tile, copper fixtures, wide plank flooring. The kitchen was well-stocked with all necessary cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, etc. We spent several nights outside on the deck grilling, making s'mores, and hanging out around the fire (night time temperatures drop into the mid-60s, even in July). We appreciated the extra paper towels, dish soap, etc.; it shows how much the owners truly consider this a "family" home. The community lodge is just across the street for Ore Car. The only complaints here are the salt-water pool is a little small and the two hot tubs had a funky smell to them. We will definitely be back as there is so much to see and do in the area.

We loved everything about the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I live in Rapid City. We invited 4 couples (very good friends) from MN to visit and rented your cabin. Everyone just loved it. The kitchen was very well equipped, the fireplaces were great and view wonderful. There were a couple things that we wanted to mention: ice maker didn't work very well, outside grill was very dirty (we did not use), we could have used more wash cloths and hand towels, and also bar soap in the showers. We would certainly recommend and would rent again ourselves.
