Owners were really nice and could not do enough for us.....we had 2 power cuts during our stay and they made sure we were ok and brought lights etc....
Very nice week, shame about the sun not coming out that much, but it was October...
Fantastic pool, outdoor space and views
We stayed a week in the villa and had a fabulously relaxing time. The villa is really all about the outdoor space - which is hard to fault. The kids (11&9) were amply entertained by the pool, diving board and popping down for a dip in the sea (with us!). The house is well equipped though quite functional but is comfortable and with charm. Bathrooms fine, but perhaps a little outdated. We appreciated the provision of washing up detergents etc along with basic kitchen ingredients - not that we did much cooking. Good tavernas close by and decent supermarkets in Lavrio along with proximity to Athens and local sights make this a nice easy holiday. On site caretakers Antoni and Miranda are lovely, helpful and unobtrusive and we communicated v well mainly in sign language! We also met one of the owners who is clearly passionate about the work they have done to revive this old house. One final note, the directions when you receive them seem a little vague (series of maps and sat nav/street view pictures) but work perfectly! We hope to return ...
Fantastic location with an amazing swimming pool and easy access to the sea
Spent two very enjoyable and relaxing weeks at this location. House would benefit from some modernisation but is perfectly functional for a holiday focused on the outdoors. Pool area is first class.
Stunning villa, very well looked after, superb seaside location
We spent two weeks in this villa with our boys aged 11 and 14 and all enjoyed it greatly. The location is stunning and the exterior of the villa unmatched, including the largest private pool I have ever seen. The pool was kept in perfect condition and swimming in it while looking over the Aegean was a great pleasure. We also enjoyed swimming and snorkeling off the rocks below the villa. Indoors is not huge but very adequate, with very well equipped kitchen, barbecue and the great covered external area where we often sat. Access to very good tavernas, Sounio temple and ancient mine remnants make this a great location.
Privacy with breathtaking view
I found this picture-perfect property while looking for alternatives to the time and expense of traveling to one of the islands. This place was exactly what I envisioned! Yes, that entire pool area is for the sole use of this property. We would sit poolside drinking coffee in the morning or wine in the evening, enjoying the sound of the waves on the rocks below. The pool is simply stunning at night, the surface like clear glass. The stars, the Aegean, ahhh...
There is a semi-private beach area just below the property that is accessed by a long flight of stairs. It's a rocky beach with tables, umbrellas, and a ladder into the water. It's a very pretty, protected spot that is great for swimming. Just be careful--sea urchins!
There were five in our party, my husband and I, and three teen boys. The three air-conditioned bedrooms (two with queens, one with two twins) had beds that were comfortable. There are two bathrooms. There is plenty of space for people to spread-out, so everyone had privacy should they want it. We prepared most of our meals on-site and found the kitchen to be outfitted better than any VRBO we've visited. We had every appliance we wanted and enough tableware for us to eat two meals without having to do dishes. We'd take our meals out on the patio to enjoy the gorgeous weather and views.
Families hoping to do laundry should note the washing machine is very small and clothes need to hang dry. I think this is typical? Just be aware this is NOT your huge front-loader.
Groceries, banking, dining, just about anything you might need is in the nearby town of Lavrio. We drove up to Athens twice, taking the longer route along the coastline. It's a beautiful drive! There are a couple nearby ruins to visit: Poseidon's Temple (south of the property) and the Thorikos Theater (north of Lavrio). The theater takes some work to find (it's not well-marked), but it's a wonderful site.
Perhaps the best part of this property was the hospitality of the owner, Alexandros. He greeted us warmly and shared the history of this old stone house and the surrounding area. When someone in our group stepped on a sea urchin, he came to the house and was ready to take us to a local urgent care facility. Instead his mother came to the house bearing supplies and advice on how to remove the spines on our own. This sort of attention goes above and beyond!
If you're looking for a private, quiet, Greece beach vacation, this is the perfect spot!

1) In a 2 km distance from the residence , there is the fabulous temple of Poseidon. The temple of Poseidon at Sounion is one of the most important sanctuaries in Attica. Sporadic finds point to the conclusion that the site was inhabited in the prehistoric period. "Sounion Hiron" (temple of Sounion) is first mentioned in the Odyssey, as the place where Menelaos stopped during his return from Troy to bury his helmsman, Phrontes Onetorides. The finds of the 7th century B.C. are numerous and proove the existence of organized cult on two points of the promontory: at the southern edge where the temenos of Poseidon was situated, and about 500 m. to the NE of it, where the sanctuary of Athena was established. 2) A couple kilometre away from the residence there is a perfect place for hiking, cycling or just admiring the greek nature. That is the Sounio National Park. The National Park of Sounio was founded in 1971. It lies on the southeastern edge of Attica, in the area which is commonly called Laureotiki and ends up at the cape of Sounio. It is comprised of about 4,000 hectares, of which the 500 are the nucleus of the park where the established order of conservation is absolute. There is the pine forest of pinus halepensis which is the prevalent vegetation of the park was (and to a certain extent continues to be) the most extensive and well-preserved pine forest of eastern Attica. The overland section of the area is an example of a Mediterranean landscape. 3) Lavrion port is 10 km from Sounio area. Ferries to the cycladic islands depart daily from the port. So you can take the ferry for a daily trip to Kea or Kythnos island. 4) Car is not necessary but if you would like to explore the extended area it is recommended.
