We rent from Saturday to Saturday. Arrival at 3:00 pm Saturday and Departure at 12:00 pm (Noon) the following Saturday. If there is no one renting the week before or after those times arrival and departure times can be a little flexible.

Sorry no pets. We have to be sensitive to folks with allergies.

There is a small apartment attached to the back of the house. I rent that out for the summer to students that come to York from Lithuania to work at the beach. The girls we have this year will be working at the Wild Animal Kingdom food concession stands. These same girls were with us last year and are delightful.

About Pat Scanlon

Hi

As a short bio: I am married with two children. We live in Andover, MA.

I work in the recycling field and my wife Connie is a reading specialist in the Chelsea School System. I have multiple interests. I play the banjo and have one record and four CD's. I am a Vietnam Veteran, was in the U.S. Army for three years, Military Intelligence and spent the year of 1969 at MACV headquarters in Saigon. I was the Coordinator of a veterans group called Veterans For Peace for the greater Boston area for the past five years. I just passed the torch to a new Coordinator middle of March 2015. I love hiking and spend a lot of time up on Mt. Agamentacus, (10,000+ acres) a fifteen minute drive from the house. You can see the White Mountains from the summit on a clear day.

I grew up in West Philadelphia and came up to Massachusetts after the Army to attend Merrimack College. I have a degree in Sociology. I also have a degree in Nursing from Boston University.

My daughter is in SF, Calif and does breast cancer research at U. of Calf. SF. My son is working at Market Basket in North Andover, in the baking and pastry department

Pat Scanlon purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Pat Scanlon chose Southern Coast of Maine

We stayed with some friends who lived around the corner for one week a couple of years in a row. We fell in love with the whole area. In 2001 we were staying with our friends in early September. When we walked around the corner our current house was for sale. Some work had been done with a lot of work to do. We immediately put in an offer and was accepted. We have not rented the house out for the past several years and we will only be renting it out for a four or five weeks this year.

What makes this cottage unique

The house is very cozy and in a wonderful quiet neighborhood. It is so close to the beach and downtown Short Sands but is not heavily traveled at all. At night you can get an ocean breeze and hear the buoy bell ring.

The house is not on the water but the houses across the street are, and you can see the ocean from our front bedroom and living room windows (bushes across the street have grown so the view from the front bedroom and living room is getting squeezed out), there is a view from the front porch and certainly from our driveway and picnic area.

We can easily walk down to Short Sands beach or to the shops, restaurants and stores downtown. Wild Animal Kingdom, and Amusement Park is downtown. It is an easy drive to Mt. Agamentagus for hiking or biking. It is also a short drive to the shopping outlets in Kittery and just down the road from Aqunquit with its wonderful restaurants and shops.
