About Susan or Dave Donaldson

Dave and I bought this cabin strictly for a get away. We retired and loved the area so much we ended up relocating here permanently. We built a home right next door to the cabin we now have for rent.

Susan or Dave Donaldson purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Susan or Dave Donaldson chose Brevard

We lived in New Orleans for 28 years and decided to find a small get a way from the summer heat, hurricane season and to view the fall foliage. We looked in North Carolina and decided on a subdivision which offers us a gated community for security especially when we were 600 miles away from the property.

What makes this cabin unique

You would not have to leave the area except for grocery shopping. We have hiking, waterfalls, fishing, swimming, clubhouse, golf course, tennis, pickleball, playground, small beach at one of the parks on the lake, boating, picnicking etc.

Simply amazing!

  • 5 of 5

From the time we found the cabin online,to working with the owners, to checking in and then relaxing, things could not have gone more smoothly! We loved the cabin, its beautiful and secluded location but close location to great amnenities. The cabin was cozy, nicely decorated and well stocked. And the view-awesome! We can't say enough about the entire long weekend rental experience. We truly hope to come back some day! Thank you for being so pleasant to work with!

Outstanding place with all the comforts of home and more...

  • 5 of 5

Amazing small house, spotless, included everything we needed, and more. Terrific views, central to Connestee Clubhouse. Hosts were incredibly helpful, gracious, and available (live next door). Finished with a designer's touch, not your usual rental. There were flowers, wine, fire in fireplace, and music playing awaiting our arrival! Best of any rental we have ever had - and we will return... We usually travel with our own sheets and towels as most rentals have older worn out things, but we didn't need them this time - great bedding, fluffy towels. Much more like a B&B, not a rustic cabin!

Great cozy house in the mountains.

Great little house, everything was nice and clean as advertised. We never met Susan in person but she was great getting back to me with my questions and comments. The wine and chocolates were greatly appreciated. Would.love to go back with the dog.

Perfect and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We had a warm and cozy three night stay at “Cabin in the woods“. It was perfect! The cabin is ideally located in Connestee Falls, not too far from the East gate and nestled in the woods so it is often visited by a family of deer… We even encountered a large buck! The amenities are plentiful and the hosts are gracious and accommodating… We look forward to returning next year!

Nice little cabin, unpretentious but perfectly adequate. I found everything I needed and Susan went out of her way to make sure I was fully taken care of. Recommended.

Peace! This place is made for relaxing and enjoying the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

The owners are wonderful hosts! They provided details regarding the stay and checked in with us to ensure that all was well after we arrived at the cabin. They are attentive to details and the home is clean. We had everything we needed! I loved the stainless steel cooking pots and the kitchen was well equipped. The deck is amazing and it feels like you are in a treehouse. The community is full of amenities and we enjoyed many of them. The pool and tennis were fun for the kids. And, we all enjoyed the views of the lakes and hiking the well maintained trails in Connestee. Thanks for a great place to relax and enjoy the peace of the mountains!
