Had a wonderful stay. Chuck was friendly and accommodating and Charlotte is the cutest. "Scap-gals" (4 of us with plenty of supplies) were able to spread out and have plenty of room. Full range of kitchen...beautiful modern and plenty of room.
My brother, two sisters and I booked this property for 6days to attend the wedding of my brother's daughter at the close by Botanical Gardens. This home is spacious, well decorated and has a fantastic kitchen if you are into cooking. Chuck the host and his little dog Charlotte were just the best. He was around to give great ideas on where to eat and things to see and do on the days we were not involved with the wedding. Charlotte was very friendly and love to play but she did not bark hardly at all, so would not disturb you that way. Other times you hardly new they were in the house. It was really nice having someone that knew the area to talk with when at the house. Highly recommend Chuck and his home for a relaxing stay. The price is great too! Would stay here again if came back to Norfolk.
My son & daughter-in-law's wedding was held at Wiseacre and we couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Chuck, our host, was extremely accomodating and was helpful in so many ways. He gave us pointers and was nice enough to let us "rearrange his furniture" because we chose to have the ceremony inside. I suppose that was extremely unusual because most of the weddings held at Wiseacre are outside on the vast lawn. And, though it was hot (a 2pm wedding in front of those massive windows is toasty!), the ceremony was short, precious and everything we had hoped for. The kitchen is a dream to work in (we catered it ourselves!) and there was plenty of room for all indorr and outdoor activites. I would only give one bit of advice,...if you hold a large affair at this home, utilize the second bathroom between the rental bedrooms or consider renting a portable potty for the back yard!! We forgot to instruct guests about the second bathroom and I think the one bathroom near the kitchen was in constant use by our 100 guests.
Overall, Wiseacre is a beautiful home with a stunning view that is worth every penny. I recommend renting it for more than just a weekend if you are holding a wedding or large affair. We rented it for five nights and had plenty of time to get ready for the wedding and clean up afterwards. I'd do it all again! Thank you Chuck, you are the best!
Cookie, Bill, Michelle, Ian and the whole family!
Omg where to begin, this house is Beautiful inside and out, the stories about the house were so warming and exciting to hear about, Chuck was AMAZING, and a very good host, welcomed my husband I and our 3 children with open arms!!! My 7 yr old cried when we left :) i would recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation or even a place to hold a wedding or an event....breathtaking scenery!!!
This place and its owner are just so splendid. My mother-in-law and I recently stayed 4 nights and couldn't have had a more lovely time. Chuck was so welcoming, informative, and respectful of our space and privacy that it made our vacation to Virginia Beach extremely special. I hope to return in the future.
My sister got married here and the home and the view was amazing. Unfortunately, multiple times throughout the night there was major issues. Chuck became very intoxicated and extremely rude. There was only one bathroom that was allowed to be used when there was 120+ people. He also turned the AC off inside the home making very humid and muggy for those inside. He even yelled at my two year old son for accidently walking into a screen door and threatened to "kick us out if we could not control our child." Earlier, my husband had arrived early to help set up for the wedding and once We were finished he went to the bathroom to change his clothes. Chuck walked in on him changing and kicked him out,of the bathroom stating, "this is a bathroom and not a dressing room." We were not "allowed" to wash the dishes after our guests got done eating. If this is not enough he was so rude and nasty the bride and groom packed up all the stuff from their wedding and did not even stay at the home that night and had their wedding night RUINED! Do yourself and guests and run so fast from this guy!
There are countless local sites to see throughout this resort area! Williamsburg and Busch Gardens are within an hour's drive.
I will furnish all info upon your arrival with travel guides for Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
