Wonderful, pet friendly, secluded getaway.
We had a fantastic week on this island! It was everything we wanted, seclusion, northwoods, wildlife, clear water and great fishing. It was so quiet, except for the loons and trumpeter swans! Very little boat activity on the lake the week we were there. It was just the two of us and our two dogs, but there is plenty of room for a family.. Would be great for a family with small children, very kid friendly. The owners were great to work with, provided us with everything we needed and more. The kitchen is well stocked, lots of extra supplies and some staples. Two fridges and a freezer. Even some rain gear and bug spray, but the bugs were not bad at all and we really did not need it. The master bed is firmer than we like, but the view out the large bedroom windows makes up for it. Two docks, both with great fishing. Also great fishing just south east of the island (via boat). We caught lots of bluegill and crappie, and some perch and smallmouth bass. The pontoon boat is great for motoring around the lake. There is also a nice walking path up into the hill on the island. We saw mink and eagles on the island. The heart of the cabin is the stone fireplace, such a great way to take the chill out of the air. We did not use the TV, and did not use the internet much, but the WIFI worked well. This is a great vacation rental, we highly recommend it.
Beautiful, Quiet Island Oasis
We stayed at this beautiful island oasis the first part of August 2017 with out family, 6 adults and two young children. We found it to be well equipped with lots of books; toys for the grandkids and spices/condiments in the kitchen. Upon our arrival, Brian and Mary greeted us and brought us over to the island. Mary was very thorough in going over the basics of the home and showed us where everything we might need was. We had use of the pontoon, kayaks and even a small fishing boat. Fishing at Juggler Lake was great! Caught lots of sunnies, bluegills and bass. Clear and clean too!! The cabin is not too far from Itasca State Park where we enjoyed a day taking family pictures. It is a little ways to get to town to pick up supplies, so when planning a vacation here, plan ahead. They have a nice fire pit where we enjoyed most of our evenings, roasting marshmallows and hotdogs over the fire. It was a nice place to just get away for awhile, very peaceful. No resorts on the lake which made for a quiet week! We would HIGHLY recommend this place for your next vacation in Northern Minnesota. The only thing that they did not have available for us was an anchor for the boat, which we had to run in to town to purchase for ourselves.
Thanks so much, Carol, for the wonderful review; we are happy that you enjoyed yourselves so thoroughly. You will be pleased to know that the anchor has been replaced. Actually other guests had tossed it into the lake (without it being first secured to the boat 😳). 'Things' just happen sometimes. Enjoy your wonderful memories 😊!
Everything we needed!
Perfect for our summer vacation! Enough beds, sitting and dining room for our group of seven. Extra fridge and freezer which definitely were put to good use! There is a large gas grill to easily grill for a large group. Super clear lake with great bass fishing! There is also a raft for swimming. Excellent rental, we had a great time!
Wonderful stay and wonderful hosts
We loved staying at this island cabin. Our group included my 3 granddaughters (11, 3, and 1), their parents, and me. The kids loved the great swimming beach and fishing off the docks--caught sunnies non-stop! Having the pontoon available was great for evening cruises around the lake and also for fishing. The cabin is well equipped for guests. You can tell it is a well-loved family retreat. Mary and Brian provided all the information we needed to have a great stay. Already talking about coming back next summer!
Secluded cozy cabin on nice lake.
Our family enjoyed our week on this private island. We spent our time fishing, boating, tubing, swimming, kayaking, playing board games, sharing meals, hiking through the woods and nightly bon fires. We caught a lot of sunnies and bass, some right off the docks. We brought our own boat but enjoyed using the pontoon provided just as much. The lake was clear and pretty quiet. The cabin has a nice layout and provided us all our essentials. We enjoyed the owners Brian and Mary. They were great to work with and made themselves available for any questions before and throughout our stay. We are grateful for our time on this private oasis.
Very peaceful and relaxing
Everybody had a great time. Plenty of fish to catch right off the docks. The kids really enjoyed the kayaks and swimming. We had several campfires and enjoyed watching the loons that visited everyday. Thank you for a great week on the island. We hope to return.
