Huge 17 foot high fireplace in the great room. Open balcony above with 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom. The walkout basement level is now finished, it now has 2 bedrooms with queen sized beds and a couch that pulls out into a double bed. So there are five beds in all, a king sized one in the master bedroom, 2 queen sized beds in the upper loft area and 2 queen sized beds in the basement. Brand new hot tub out back. I'm a real estate broker in Sioux Falls. When we bought this property we had the intention to develop it with 5 or 6 homes with privacy and fantastic river views. We just have not been able to part with any of it and decided to just share it with everyone with this vacation rental home....
kevin kuiper purchased this cabin in 2011
We found this beautiful piece of real estate about 15 years ago, were finally able to purchase it about 7 years ago and decided we really just wanted to share it with the world a little. It had been in the same family for 3 generations, ever since it was aquired from the government over 100 years ago. It has not had much human activity over the years, just quietly co-existing along a mile of the Big Sioux River. Whitetail deer, pheasants and turkeys enjoy the solitude there.
We've really enjoyed hiking the property over the years. Just pick a deer trail and follow it and discover the beauties of nature.
You can hunt, hike or ride horse at either Hidden Bridge or Peterson Preserve which adjoins our property to the East and North.
This is a beautiful, comfortable, clean home with a scenic view. We especially enjoyed the hot tub on the cold November morning while watching the eagles in the sky and the chickadees on the nearest tree. The beds were comfortable and the large dining table was perfect for our group to play board games. The owner was very prompt with his responses and deposit return. I would recommend a railing for the steps leading up to the front door. Would love to have our family Christmas Eve/Christmas day there.
This is the second year our book group has spent a perfect weekend enjoying this lovely property. Again we lucked out with perfect fall weather and had our morning coffee on the deck, later hiked nearby Gitchie Manitou followed by a hot tub back at the cabin. Everything you need is provided with ample space for a large group. We will definitely return. This is a real jewel and so close to home, yet you feel like you are really someplace special, which you are!
Both visits we had dinner in Larchwood at the Main Street Grill, our server even remembered us from last year--so friendly and the food is great. Just a short 10 minute trip.
This property is w wonderful place to visit while in Sioux Falls or as a getaway while in the area. It is well appointed with ample towels, space and staples . It is more lovely than the pictures and the views off the deck are a breathtaking representation of the area's topography. It is approximately 25 minutes from town so a trip to the grocery before checkin would be advised. There is a great grill for outdoor cooking and the kitchen is open and easy to maneuver even with big groups. Everything needed to entertain is supplied.
We used the property for wedding entertaining and family overflow. It supplied all our needs and was a wonderfully representative of our area. Kevin was great to work with and was quick to communicate by email to answer any questions.
The whole group enjoyed their stay.
This property is beautiful! The views are spectacular! The house is spacious and it's just a great place to get together with family and play games, walk down to the river, bike on the deer paths and relax out on the deck and in the hot tub. The beds are super comfortable. The owner is very accessible. We had a great time!
We used the house as a home base for a four day family weekend for a wedding in Sioux Falls, and we could not have asked for more. There was plenty of room for all of the adults in the beds, and all of the kids in the rec room downstairs. We didn't even need all of the air mattresses we hauled because they had five already there! The basement also had plenty of activities for the kids to do while the adults visited upstairs and on the spacious deck. We even had plenty of room for extra guests to stop by for dinner one of the nights! The days were busy in Sioux Falls, but the mornings and evenings at the cabin were a perfect way to spend time with family who lives in various places. It was so much better than separate hotel rooms! Kevin was a great host, and I would recommend he and this house to anyone.
