Whitebrook Lodge, surrounded by the Whitebrook stream dates back to the 1920's. The lodge is under renovation and we have a lovely one bedroom rental which is totally renovated. We are still working on the rest of the lodgge. It is a rustic wooded retreat located near the base of the Whiteface Trail which goes 5.2 miles to the top of Whiteface. Whitebrook is a year- round destination for such activities such as: hiking, golfing, rock climbing, canoeing, kayacking, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowboarding, horeback riding, ice fishing, bobsledding, snowmobiing , cross country skiing, local swimming at the Mt. Everest Beach or hiking to the waterfalls and swimming hole near the property, luge, figure and speed skating. Santa's workshop down the road as well as homemade maple syrup up the road. Take a gondola ride in the summer or a scenic plane ride from the Lake Placid airport over the Adironcacks. Only 10 miles from the Village of Lake Placid offers fine dining, shopping and antiquing.
Overall we greatly enjoyed our full week at Whitebrook Lodge (studio). My wife mostly favored the studio's heated floors, cozyness of the studio and having a two room studio. My 6'7" frame obviously loved the king size bed and overhead spa showers, and liked using the gas grill! After arriving after dark and finding the door key, we had to quickly customized ourselves to the studio's setup (using the on-demand water heater, arranging furniture to our liking for the week, preparing and eating most of our morning and evening meals, and acquainting ourselves to other little personalities of the lodge and studio). The gas grill played a big role in our lives and saved the day because we preferred to dine in mostly to enjoy our relationship privately and the ambiance of the lodge's setting in the woods of Wilmington NY and Whiteface Mtn. My wife prepared our daily meal menu well and I carried out her intentions on the grill (steaks) and using cast iron skillets to scramble eggs and saute dishes. Dinners were great! The little bar area provided space to prepare meals and clean up after eating (no kitchen). At times we ate out, we favored Big Slide Brewing on Rt73. Great brews on tap and food menu. The lodge itself is still under construction (renovation) and rough. It will be a beautiful spacious home or lodge in the future. Out of our and owners control was the local and regional weather. We came to the Adirondacks to xc ski to our (my) hearts content. It didn't happen; however it was a great location to Whiteface Mtn and Adirondack High Peaks for xc skiing (first day only), snowshoeing (next two days), and then microspikes hiking (final two days). The snow conditions quickly deteriorated after the second day we were there. Sad! Nevertheless we had a great time in the mountains. In passing, we wish the owners all the luck in completing the lodge, and thank them for letting us escape from our world and to theirs for a week in Adirondack Park. We'll be back!
Judy is a wonderful property owner who is always accepted a phone call and any questions. This property is so cozy and private. It was a wonderful place to enjoy a fabulous (mini) honeymoon with my husband. The Jacuzzi was a great touch and so relaxing. The large screen television and Direct TV was also a major treat compared to back packing in the ADK park. It was disappointing not to have a full kitchen to operate with, but we did utilize our camping gear and the grill. (Not to mention the wonderful restaurants in the area.) I would absolutely return to this vacation rental and recommend it to couples looking for privacy and relaxation.
It was such a nice getaway place. Nice quiet property for our dogs to run around. Inside the house was well decorated that made us feel very Lake Placid-ly vacation atmosphere. The bathroom was amazing! Judy was welcoming and showed us through and around the house. Thank you very much.
We would definitely stay there again!!!
Great spot near hiking trails (walk to Whiteface Trail), skiing, and nordic. Very private and a well appointed cabin. We loved it!
The rental property was beautiful, clean and in close proximity to many attractions! In three days my girlfriend and I were able to commute back and forth from Lake Placid, Wilmington and Saranac Lake. For those seeking adventure there are a plethora of activities to indulge in. During our stay we went bobsledding, dog sledding, skiing, ice skating. toured all of the olympic sites and dined at some amazing restaurants. After being out and about all day and night it felt amazing to come home to a warm and cozy rental that had multiple fire places, radiant heat in the floors a massive bed and a whirlpool tub. Thank you for helping make our stay great!
I was delighted to stay at Whitebrook Lodge. The condo is conveniently situated minutes from Whiteface Mountain (much closer than the town of Lake Placid proper). Dan and Judy were very responsive, hospitable and caring hosts.
The Wilderness Inn is a great restaurant to try-out - 5min. away; while The Little Market and Mobil Fuel station (also 5min. away) in Wilmington is great for groceries.
Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!
