The perfect relaxing getaway!
This early 1900's cottage has been tenderly and tastefully restored creating a private and captivating retreat for you and your loved one. You'll sense the effort to anticipate your requirements for a memorable and replenishing stay, including a bottle of wine and chocolate inviting a toast to ''your'' stay.
Front and rear decks surrounded by ancient oaks and pine plus a charming flower garden enhance the ambiance of this very private cottage.
The crisp ocean air will greet you morning and evening. All your senses will be heightened as you listen to the distant bark of seals and crashing waves. Deer walk through your front yard along with racoons, squirrel, wild turkey, and the ever darling covey of quail. A myriad birds alone provide hours of entertainment.
Enjoy the king size bed, and cozy gas fireplace after a day of exploring.
Walk night or day to the ocean and hunt for wildlife in the tide pools where you can sit and watch the otters, humpback whales, and dolphins (seasonal). Bring your comfy shoes - it is uphill on the way back but it's worth it!
If you must work we have hi speed internet and telephone.
The satellite TV offers nearly all the premium channels and we stock the cottage with everything you'll need. If you forget something, the quaint village of Cambria is just a 5 minute drive.
One note for our tall guests. This cottage was built around 1907 and some tall guests (over 6'1) may have to duck through doorways. For the comfort of all our guests there is no smoking in or around the unit.

We loved this property! I booked it as a surprise for my wife as an anniversary present. She needed someplace where she could journal and find inspiration for her songwriting and this was the place. Nestled in pine trees and beautiful homes it was perfect for us. The property owners were very helpful and accessible for questions. They even left a bottle of wine and chocolate for us upon arrival. As, other reviews have pointed out, the bathroom is on the first floor and the bedroom is on the second floor which is a little inconvenient but wasn't a big deal for us. It's 5 stars for sure!
What a joy to find this lovely cottage in Cambria for my retreat! Being “greeted” by a bottle of wine and chocolates gave the promise of an excellent stay. I loved the cozy feel of the cottage from all the little spaces to the charming décor. There were many amenities to make my stay enjoyable and calming – robe and slippers, toiletries, and candles.
March weather was unpredictable; I enjoyed my walks down to the ocean with its rolling waves and breakfast in the sun on the deck over looking the garden. But the rain was the best as I snuggled in the comfortable bed and relaxed in the comfy living room with the “fireplace” and one of the many luxurious throws.
Visits to Linn’s Bakery, Cookie Crook, Creekside Café, Cambria Pines Lodge Restaurant, the antique shops, the Farmer’s Market and First Baptist Church added to my visit to friendly village of Cambria.
Highly recommend and look forward to returning!
We did not watch any of the hundreds of DVDs or listen to the CDs or play games of which there were plenty. We didn't cook in the well appointed kitchen or the outdoor grill but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of fluffy towels and robes and the Master king size bed is very comfortable. There is a closet/dressing room on the bedroom level that was nice to have. Seeing the stars or listening only to nature from the deck was wonderful. We saw deer and butterflies and beautiful flowering trees.
What else you should know: the walk to the tide pools from the house would be quite a hike with an uphill trek back. The master bedroom is downstairs from the bathroom and there are 2 steps into it and the living room from the downstairs hall. Use the night lights to avoid a misstep. There is a single bed in a cubby on lower floor and another in the upstairs kitchen. The house is hard to find especially at night. Use a GPS. We almost ever found it one dark night. The neighborhood is not well lit--that's why the stars shin so bright. It is not as private as it seems in the pictures. It is in a neighborhood with houses next door and across the street so you may hear leaf blowers and general neighborhood bustling about during the day.
We stayed at this lovely cottage for four days/nights and found it delightful in every way. Just the right size for the two of us, I would recommend it to any couple or small family. The bed was especially comfortable and warm with LOTS of pillows and extra blankets. The bathroom worked well for us. The kitchen, while small (and we expected a small kitchen in a small cottage!) was well-supplied with both cooking gear and dinnerware (We are superb cooks, and there was no shortage of pots, pans, SHARP knives, glassware, utensils, etc.). The owner left a wonderful bottle of wine for us, far better than one usually gets in a rental (I know wine, and I am guessing the owner does what as well). The neighborhood was so quiet, we could hear the waves pounding on the beach some distance away. We loved sitting at the picnic table on the deck, grilling steaks on the gas grill, and just enjoying the ample garden space below us and the plethora of fauna about the cottage. It was tastefully decorated, and very intimately appointed; made us feel like we were at home. It was hard to leave!
We enjoyed our weeks stay at the cottage. The location was perfect in a lovely neighborhood. My only reservation is that it was over-stocked. There was no place to put away our extra groceries in the kitchen; every cabinet was full. There were so many unnecessary linens and towels that there was no place to put our clothes away--ended up leaving them in the suitcase on the single bed in the nook under the stairway. The bed was very comfortable and the living room was cozy with a nice view of the garden. I guess I am more of a minimalist-- there were so many knick-knacks and pillows for my taste.
Very cute and comfortable little cottage up in the hills of a charming neighborhood. The king size bed was amazingly comfy and the cottage was well stocked with most anything that you might need. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area, we saw numerous Deer and a few Coyotes as well. The only drawbacks for me was that if you have AT&T cell phone service, forget about it! You will get zero service unless you drive out of the neighborhood. The only other drawback is that the bathroom is upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs which was not fun for a 3 AM potty break. Overall though, I recommend this lovely place!
