The perfect relaxing getaway!
This early 1900's cottage has been tenderly and tastefully restored creating a private and captivating retreat for you and your loved one. You'll sense the effort to anticipate your requirements for a memorable and replenishing stay, including a bottle of wine and chocolate inviting a toast to ''your'' stay.
Front and rear decks surrounded by ancient oaks and pine plus a charming flower garden enhance the ambiance of this very private cottage.
The crisp ocean air will greet you morning and evening. All your senses will be heightened as you listen to the distant bark of seals and crashing waves. Deer walk through your front yard along with racoons, squirrel, wild turkey, and the ever darling covey of quail. A myriad birds alone provide hours of entertainment.
Enjoy the king size bed, and cozy gas fireplace after a day of exploring.
Walk night or day to the ocean and hunt for wildlife in the tide pools where you can sit and watch the otters, humpback whales, and dolphins (seasonal). Bring your comfy shoes - it is uphill on the way back but it's worth it!
If you must work we have hi speed internet and telephone.
The satellite TV offers nearly all the premium channels and we stock the cottage with everything you'll need. If you forget something, the quaint village of Cambria is just a 5 minute drive.
One note for our tall guests. This cottage was built around 1907 and some tall guests (over 6'1) may have to duck through doorways. For the comfort of all our guests there is no smoking in or around the unit.

We stayed three nights in this delightful cottage a few minutes drive from downtown Cambria. The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood - deer and wild turkeys roam around the site and you can see stars at night. You can walk down to the beach in 15 minutes and access the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve trail.
The house is spacious, on two levels with the kitchen and bathroom upstairs and living room and bedroom downstairs. Everything was very clean, décor and furnishings are tasteful, the bed is comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. There's a big TV, a great selection of DVDs and an outdoor deck. We appreciated the WIFI as we couldn't get any T Mobile cellphone service in the area.
We enjoyed the walks on the beach, the beautiful sunsets, good restaurants and lovely art and craft galleries in East Cambria. People in the stores were very friendly and shared information about the history and recent changes in the area as it's becoming an increasingly popular tourist and retirement destination.
We would definitely stay in the house again. You can tell that the owner wants her guests to be comfortable and enjoy her cottage! Thanks so much for the great hospitality.
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at the cottage and found it be very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with whatever you needed to prepare a meal. It was very sweet that a bottle of wine was provided. We loved the spacious deck to relax on. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed 3 good nights of sleep. The cottage is in a beautiful setting and there were ample movies, music and games to keep you entertained if you wanted. We loved our stay there. Thank you Sharon.
My wife and I stayed in the cottage for 3 nights from the 4th to 7th August. It was clean, comfortable and well stocked and located in a quiet neighbourhood of Cambria. It was a perfect location for travelling to all the area attractions, beaches,Big Sur etc.The booking process was easy with Sharon always giving prompt replies by email to my questions. We have no hesitation recommending the cottage for anyone wishing to explore the Cambria area.
Thank you for an excellent stay.
First, the only reason this isn't 5 stars is due to the bathroom. The bathroom is on a different level from the bedroom. Since we're oldsters, we usually have to get up in the middle of the night (at least once!), and this required: up two steps, down a short hall, down two steps, then a hard u-turn to go up a flight of stairs, and then a short trip down another hall to the bathroom. It just required us to wake up more than we wanted to in the middle of the night.
That said, I'd stay there again in a flash. Why?
1. The bedroom: The bed was nicely comfy in a nice dark room (who needs lots of light in the bedroom?), though it was loaded with WAY too many extraneous pillows! Luckily, there was an extra bed nearby under the stairs to take the extras.
2. Storage: There was more than enough space for our personal items in bedroom drawers, dressing room/closet, bathroom and in the kitchen (an almost empty book case was quite useful!).
3. Kitchen: The kitchen was small but absolutely functional and well-equipped. We cooked in every evening after great lunches eaten locally, and had no problems finding the utensils/cookware we needed.
4. Amenities: Where to start? Lovely deck out from the kitchen/dining area. Lots and LOTS of local information (a notebook, and two boxes of flyers and maps, menus, etc.), many many games to choose from for a night in, likewise a LARGE DVD collection, AND an eclectic collection of CDs with the player situated at the top of the stairs, so it could be heard downstairs in the living room and upstairs in the kitchen/dining. The living room is lovely! Very comfortable - both the couch and single chair (which the hubby loved!). (Though my husband says a listing of the TV channels would be helpful!).
We loved it!
And the only reason it's not 5 stars are the stairs between the bedroom and the bathroom. Not a big issue unless you're oldsters like us who might make a few trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Having to take a flashlight, go up two steps, down a short hall, down two steps, hard u-turn, up a full staircase and then down the hall to the toilet just forced us to wake up a bit more than we wanted to - making getting back to sleep a little harder than usual.
That said, everything else was pretty much perfect. The deck off the kitchen/dining area is a lovely place to spend time on with a glass of wine (or more...) in the afternoon, and the garden out of the living room quite sweet. Lots of natural light in the living areas (except in the bedroom, but who WANTS extra light there?).
The kitchen, though small, was quite functional and well-stocked with tools. We cooked in almost every night, eating out for lunch when we were out and about. Luckily, some of the best places in Cambria are open for lunch!
There was an almost-empty shelving unit in the kitchen, so we could store the personal things we'd brought (the kitchen scale, Hubby's specialty coffee maker, etc.). We used the microwave, stove top, oven, broiler, and the grill on the deck. All worked well, and there were all the pots/pans/tools we needed.
Linens were beyond ample. We could have used a different towel every time we needed one, but that would be silly! This includes dish towels (which I've had issues with in other rentals).
Lots of games and puzzles available - great fun! And a ton of DVDs and an eclectic mix of CD's - we loved having music in the afternoon/evening. And the CD player was placed perfectly to hear in both levels of the cottage.
Oh, and yes, you can walk from there to the tidepools or the Fiscalini preserve, but it IS a walk uphill back. We did it once..... (remember, we're "oldsters".)
Would I stay there again? In a flash, even with the stair bathroom issue. We had a great stay!
