Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the parks name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape.
Cadalic Mountain: Cadillac Mountain: At 1,530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is not only the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park, but also the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require.

Good time at the lake
Enjoyed Chemo Pond with my family and friends (3 adults and 5 boys). House was as described and clean. Plenty of toys to get on the water. We brought additional kayaks and really almost didn't need them. The yard area, dock, sandy entry into the pond were great. the boys enjoyed fishing, swimming, being on the water. We caught a few really nice fish during our stay. Enjoyed the area and the quiet. Took one day to go hiking in Acadia and visit Bar Harbor. We had a great time.
Wonderful summer home
We had a wonderful time!! The cabin was both rustic and very comfortable with soft sheets and good kitchen supplies. The canoe and kayaks were a lot of fun and our dogs even enjoyed them. The only thing that was a little hard was the seating around the table and tv was a little cramped as our kids are full grown. Otherwise a perfect vacation rental!
Cute rustic-feel cabin with all of the conveniences of home with a beautiful lake view!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Greer property! The location on the lake was perfectly situated providing abundant sunshine as well as much needed cool shade from a lakeside tree. The sunrise greeted us early each morning on the opposite side of the lake and the sunset behind us created a beautiful canvass in the sky each evening as we sat and enjoyed s'mores at the fire pit (ample firewood is provided). We enjoyed using all of the water toys that are made readily available by the owners. The cabin itself was comfortable and very clean. All of the wood (floors, ceilings, walls, and beams) make it feel comfortable, cozy and warm. We actually prepared and ate most of our breakfasts and evening meals at the cabin because you could not beat that view from the dining table! All of the rooms/beds were comfortable and very clean. It was nice to have the bedding and towels provided, and especially good to have a full washer and dryer to use as needed. Surprisingly (even to ourselves) we made the hour trip into Acadia National Park each day. The hikes (Precipice, Bee Hive, "Floating Rock", and The Bubbles) are all a must! The views (360 degrees from Caddilac Mountain), ocean, islands, lakes, ponds, etc were all spectacular! Spent 5 days in the park, and did not see or do everything! Bar Harbor was a great little town to shop and eat. Travelled in to Thurston's Lobster Pound in Bass Harbor for a fun place to get your lobster dinners and allows you to see the southwest part of Acadia. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch at Jordan Pond Restaurant (the only one inside the national park). The popovers with the strawberry jelly were yummy! There is a family market about a ten minute drive away that is well stocked and reasonably priced. The Greer family were very nice and respectful of our privacy. There was construction being done to their home daily, but it did not deter or distract us from enjoying ourselves (just was a bit noisy, but we understood completely- certain it needs to be done in fair weather months). Josh was quick to answer any inquiries that we had as well as attend to any issues that arose. We appreciated their attention to detail and use of their lovely cabin and would highly recommend this property to all! Missing Chemo Pond (pronounced "She-mow") already!
Josh was very easy to work with and Chemo Pond is absolutely beautiful and very clean. The house has some very up to date accessories in it - but still had a rustic cabin charm (it is exceptionally clean and very well stocked). Just be careful - some of the ceilings are quite low (but I do have a very tall family - and we had a few bumped heads). The cabin could certainly sleep 10 - but the living area would be tight if you had that many. We had a family of 5 with us and it was comfortable at that.
Unfortunately during our stay - houses on both sides were both having construction projects done and it wasn't as peaceful as I was hoping it would be. I was also surprised that the road was a little busier than I would have expected. When I go to Maine - I really enjoy the quiet (and I didn't get that all the time with this house). The owner (lives next door) and still uses the garage of this house for personal use as well as part of the driveway. I wasn't completely comfortable having people that close to the house on a number of occasions. One word of advice - if you don't like dogs - I wouldn't suggest this house. On numerous occasions a few dogs were in the yard and even the water with us. I'm actually glad we didn't bring our dog - as I'm sure this would have been more of a nuisance.
If these few little things don't bother you - I would suggest the house, as it was very nice and a great location. The entire downstairs level does not have any windows that can open up - so that was a little disappointing on the cool nights when we wanted fresh air.
Really Nice Camp and Lake.
The camp is nice but more importantly kept very clean. The Greer's (owners who live next door) were very helpful with anything we needed. The camp was well stocked and the shed had tubes and more for water play.
1. There is a Canoe, paddle board and kayaks, with many life jackets of all sizes.
2. There are plenty of towels and extra linens as well with Bathroom's on each floor (3)
3. The fire-pit is overlooking the lake and there is plenty of dry firewood next to the shed.
4. Acadia is pretty close so we did that as a day trip.
5. AT&T Cellular service is non-existent in the area but we had a pretty reliable wifi connection if you need to do some work remotely.
6. Beautiful Loons on the lake.
7. Nearest Gas station/General store is about 7 minutes away (just in case you forgot _____________)
8. Brewer is about 15-20 minutes away with a walmart and lowes if you need anything more substantial.
9.There is a new dock to the left of the property and the dock in the pictures was removed giving a nice beachy/rocky access where the old doc was.
10. The only slight downside (if you consider it a downside) is the Greer's dog would occasionally visit. Sometimes he would leave a present for us in the yard which Josh was quick to remove.
All in all it was a great time. The Greer's were great. The property was well maintained and very clean and I would recommend this property.
Thank you Josh and Family for the great memories.
Great week at Chemo Pond
Property was everything we expected. Owners are very hospitable. House had all needed amenities and more. Kids (and adults) enjoyed kayaks, paddle board, and swim float.
Chemo Pond is a beautiful, three and a half-mile long lake, located in Downeast Maine near Acadia National Park an Bar Harbor. It makes a relaxing vacation spot for anyone wanting to explore the Downeast Maine area, without the crowds of Acadia National Park. Just a few of the activities available at Chemo Pond are swimming, fishing, boating, jet-skiing, Snowmobiling, ice fishing, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing or just relaxing and enjoying the views.
