Both bedrooms have ample storage space and windows that can see the ocean from pretty much everywhere. They also share a brand new bathroom with a tile floor, and large shower. The first floor features, a completely renovated full bathroom with custom tile work, and two additional bedrooms. The sun room/dining area overlooks the ocean. In fact, almost every room has a view of the ocean one way or another!
For our family, this isn't just a rental property. We take pride in the fact that every member has spent time there both improving and maintaining it (even the little ones), as well as relaxing and enjoying it. It's not uncommon to find us there celebrating birthday's, holidays, or just enjoying a great summer day. We've lived here our entire lives so we know the area and will make every effort to help make your stay the best possible. Our goal is to help your family enjoy Papa's By the Sea, as much as our family does.
Allen C. purchased this house in 1964
Relaxing or fishing on the rocks at high tide, catching crabs at low tide, swimming/boating out on the bay, or summer clam bakes. Nothing tears at the heart more than memories from childhood. 4 generations of our family have raised their children/grown up/or are still growing up at this house that has been in the family for over 50 years. The house has so much history and a unique foot print, as Papa himself kept expanding as his family expanded. We've continued that expansion to add more space so large families like ours can enjoy it.
We rented this place for 4 nights to celebrate 2016 Christmas. We were 9 adults, 2 toddlers and 1 newborn. We had a great time in this beautiful house! All rooms are very comfortable, we were able to ajust the heat very easily and the kitchen is convenient for a big family.
The waterfront view is amazing and we can't wait to rent again this place during summertime to enjoy the outdoor space!
Allen is a very responsive person. He answers to emails/texts quickly and did his best to accommodate us.
Thank you Allen for this great stay!
We stayed at this property over a 4-day period for a small family get together. The location next to the water was ideal. The kids loved playing on the rocks next to the water. If we hadn't done anything else during our trip, they probably would have been content to play on the rocks the entire time. We did, however, take the opportunity to venture off to Boston and walk the Freedom Trail, as well as tour Plimoth Plantation. The location of the property was ideal for these day trips.
We had a minor miscommunication with the owner regarding our arrival, however, the owner was responsive and worked quickly to correct the mistake. Overall, it was a great trip and we'd happily repeat it again.
We enjoyed our stay.... the best part was the view and size of home. The problem with the property is they need to do some major improvements inside like:
The couches need to be replaced... they are worn out and not comfortable at all;
The dishes, glasses, and mugs do not match... so having guests over for a dinner was a struggle;
None of the towels or wash cloths were matching and they were very hard and rough as if they were line dried...definitely need to be up graded;
The bed mattresses are AWFUL other than the master.... my back killed me all during my stay. This is very unfortunate as people come on vacation to rest;
There was NO Tiki torch oil, and no wood for the fire pit.... I asked for some and it was not provided... so I left 2 stacks of wood for the renters coming in directly after me;
There are very limited TV channels and you cannot rent videos... so know this before you rent;
I think if these items were updated... this property would be an A+.
The owner was great to work with, helped us with all of our questions about the house and area. Check in/out couldn't have been easier. The house was charming, the pictures don't do it justice. A quaint cottage in a quiet community on the bay, with plenty of room and modern amenities. We tried not to pack our days full of activities so that we could enjoy the house, the view and the bay. We had 4 adults, 2 young boys and a pug and had plenty of room. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. The house as a whole had just about everything you need except for food and drink! We were very close to Plymouth and all the attractions there. We also visited Carver (Edaville USA) and Cape Cod (Woods Hole), and Wareham (Water Wizz water park). None of us wanted to leave and we definitely want to come back again!
A few minor suggestions for the owner:
The fire pit was definitely well used by the end of the summer, may need a new one for next year.
A TV in the 2nd upstairs bedroom would be a nice addition.
Papa's by the sea was the perfect house to end our 2 week New England fall foliage vacation. Our group of eight from Montana was amazed at the house, we got up early every morning to see breathtaking sun rise over the ocean. The house was very clean and well equipped in the kitchen. the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of linens. We loved sitting outside and watching the local fishermen clam digging and even did some our selfs. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Our son was getting married in Duxbury so instead of renting rooms at a local inn, we decided to rent a house. It was our first time renting from HomeAway, and we were not disappointed. We really enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood was peaceful and very safe. Bright and cheery is the best way to describe the decor. The layout was perfect for our family of 10 (six adults and four children under the age of 5). The deck off of the master bedroom had the most spectacular view of the bay …. just breathtaking. My husband and I loved beginning our day on the deck with a cup of coffee. Again, the view is amazing!!! Stores are located within a short distance from the house. Allen was wonderful contacting us a few hours after our arrival to make sure everything was fine. The wedding was perfect and our stay was very enjoyable. Thank you, Allen for making this special weekend for my family so wonderful. It’s a pleasure to recommend this property to others.
