A peaceful family summer vacation spot.: Make memories for your family at our cottage, overlooking McFarlands Cove. Enjoy our shared, but private, community beach. Entry into the water is a gradual decline of the ocean floor, so wading is enticing; or head out a little further and swim in the crisp water of the cove. With the tides on this part of the coast, the beach is always changing - from a narrow strip of sand at high tide, to a large area, at low tide, to play, relax, and look for crabs in the seaweed-covered rocks.
Boat mooring.: Thinking about bringing your own boat? Inquire about dock privileges and a boat mooring within sight of the cottage.
We just finished our second two week stay at the Schiller's cottage. Last year, we rented it sight unseen after speaking with Linda Schiller on the phone. It sounded perfect for our family and it was! We made sure we booked it again for 2012 as we knew this would soon become a popular rental. Our second summer on the cove was just as wonderful as the first and we are already looking forward to next year.
The location is perfect. Gorgeous views of the cove abound from the porch, living and dining rooms, and 3 of the bedrooms. You can sit on the porch and watch the osprey dive for fish and if you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of the bald eagle soaring by.
The beach is great for swimming. You can jump and dive from the rocks or swim dock at high tide and just wade in and swim from boat to boat at low tide. The cove is also perfect for canoes or kayaks. Fishing for mackerel, exploring the coastline or Witch Island about a half mile from the cove are all fun things to do.
The cottage is a perfect place for our family. Our kids have absolutely loved staying here the past two summers and have met new friends each year. With four bedrooms, there is plenty of room to have other family members stay for a few nights. The kitchen is well equipped, enough so that we only ate out twice in two weeks.
The beauty of this location is that you can stay for days on end without getting in your car, or you can venture out and explore the local area that has so much to offer.
Lee and Linda are wonderful hosts. We feel so fortunate to have found this special place.

My husband and I just spent the 4th of July at this cottage with our two little ones. It was nothing short of spectacular. The location is indeed right on McFarland's Cove and we were able to watch the lobster boats coming in to collect their traps in the morning from the front porch. You have fantastic views from almost every room. When you wake up in the master bedroom, you have a large picture window that also overlooks the water. Even the kitchen has windows overlooking the water. Speaking of the kitchen, it is updated and is as nice as my kitchen at home with a lovely stove and microwave.
The Schillers are wonderful hosts who live nearby and made sure we had everything we needed. The house is perfectly maintained and every amenity was thoughtfully provided.
The house also has access to the beach and a place for you to put in your boat. My 3-year old loved it because he could climb on the rocks at the beach and the boat landing and play in the water. I loved it because the water was shallow enough that I didn't have to worry much.
We'll definitely be back!!
