This wonderful, modern year round cottage offers everything you would need for a family vacation. Don't settle for an "old in the tooth" property! You are in the heart of the most prime vacation region of Maine - located by beautiful Pitcher Pond, and minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, Camden, Rockport, and Belfast - you have access to boating, fishing, hiking, or just lounging around.

Just a quick bike ride, or nice hike, and you are at one of the best organic farms in the area - just buy from the roadside stand.

About Michael Farquharson

I am originally from Toronto, Canada, now living in Boston, MA. The reason we bought this cottage is because it brings back ALL of the wonderful memories of weekends I spent in the beautiful cottage regions north of Toronto. This cottage is just as beautiful! We love spending time together as a family here to get away from it all and just be together.

Michael Farquharson purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Michael Farquharson chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

The main reason - it is a modern cottage, built only 12 years ago. It is WELL built, sitting on a real foundation. Fully insulated in the crawl space, and the attic, this is a wonderful winter property if you love winter sports. In the winter, it is quiet and secluded. The Camden ski bowl is minutes away, or grab the shovel and clear space on Pitcher Pond to go skating.

What makes this cottage unique

The property speaks for itself, and we are renting at a VERY reasonable price for this area - PRIME Maine Vacation location. Near to EVERYTHING!!!! Search Mid-Coast Maine on the internet and see the myriad of activities year round.

Nice rustic cottage with easy access to the water. Well equipped with dishes, cookware, and linens. Courteous and reasonable owner. Beautiful location, especially in the fall.

Peaceful, beautiful Pitcher Pond

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for our needs with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was well-equipped and tidy. Internet was sketchy and we had a hard time keeping up with emails etc. That said, Maine is where we (should) go to get away from all that - but my husband had to keep up with work. The cottage is not on the water but across from a property on the water. Pitcher Pond is idyllic and quiet, wooded and pristine. Our stay was very relaxing.

It was perfect for our needs

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our needs. It was great to be able to bring our dog with us (I think he had the best time out of everyone!). The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. No dishwasher but that was no big deal for us. Having access to the washer/dryer was great since I went home with clean clothes instead having all that laundry to do when I got home. The beds were comfortable as was the futon. The internet was sluggish but worked; but didn't expect anything different in the woods. We used the firepit for marshmallows. Best of all it was close to everything. We went to Acadia (1.5 hrs away), to LLBean (1.75 hrs away), Camden is great, the state park right there is awesome. We would stay again if we are ever back in the area. The owner, Michael, was very accommodative and easy to reach. Look out Michael I maybe hitting you up for info about Boston in the spring for college visits! Thanks for everything we had a fabulous family vacation.

Great stay! Perfect for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay for our family vacation - 4 adults two kids and a dog. Great location to get out for day trips. Great hiking nearby, biking and running on the dirt acces roads. Lincolnville beach is great for the kids and 10 minutes away. House is well stocked and comfortable. Pitcher Pond is absolutely beautiful! Michael is easy to work with. Thanks!

Plenty of Space, Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in July with my family (two adults, two kids) and my parents and a dog. We had a great stay. The house is big and well stocked, with a large kitchen and plenty of space to spread out. Michael was very easy to work with and we had no problems during our stay. The only thing I'd add to the description is that the renter is responsible for light cleaning, laundry and trash disposal. It was not a problem at all, though. Access to the lake is very close and the lake is quiet and beautiful. Spent time fishing and canoeing. Lots of great dirt roads and trails to run and bike on off the access road. The ocean is 10 minutes away, Lincolnville Beach is great for kids! Did day trips to Camden, Rockland, Rockport, Owl's Head and of course, Acadia NP. I would definitely recommend this rental as well as the location, it's easy to get to many great Maine destinations. Thanks!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your wonderful review. I am so pleased that the cottage worked out for you and your family. I will take your advice and make note of the renter's responsibilities for cleaning, laundry, and the trash. Hope to see you again!!! You're always welcomed!

Peaceful and idyllic location: just perfect for us.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at Michael's cottage. It was easy to find with SatNav, and true to all the pictures you see on the website. There is loads of room in the main kitchen/diner/living room and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly want. Bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean and there is an endless supply of hot water.

Although the property is not lakeside it has a huge veranda which we used almost constantly due to having such great weather during our stay. Access to the lake is just a 1 minute walk further down to the end of the track, where we also spent several evenings watching the sunset. We went swimming in the lake and canoeing, thanks to Bud and Sally (who live at the first house on 6th Ave) who generously lent us lifejackets and who we assume own the canoes.

Supermarket shopping was only a few miles away, along the 52 to Belfast (for Hannafords), or turn off the 52 earlier and go down Beech Hill Road then turn right onto the Atlantic Highway (for Wentworth Family Grocery). You can find both easily on google maps.

There is a lot to do in the area and, although we preferred mostly to experience the calm, peaceful existence that the cabin offers, reading many books and enjoying the good weather, we did make it up to Mount Batty (near Camden in the Camden Hills State Park [there's an entry fee for this]) from where you can walk down into Camden.

Michael was always helpful and quick in response before our stay and, although we didn't really need to correspond much during our stay, any questions we had were swiftly dealt with.

Our only regret was not being able to bring our dog, Oscar, because we came from UK. He would have loved it here, exploring both the forest to the back of the cabin and the lake to the front.

We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet getaway, which is nonetheless close to all amenities. Great for young and old alike, we will be saving up now for a boat trip over to the States so that we can bring Oscar next time!

Steve and Jonathan, UK.
